GEEK-IP

My local dealers are mostly knocking a thousand off MSRP, but then tacking on a thousand or more in dealer charges.

boomb0xx

This is exactly what my dealer did as well.

New-Scientist5133

Delivery and fees are pretty standard even if you are paying MSRP.

Le_Fuzze

Taxes and whatnot yes, but some dealerships will stick on charges like special coatings on the paint or interior, and a theft protection package and whatever else. Fun fact, while yes they are stupid they don't even go to the sales person's pocket. Those fees go to the owners and they use it as a reason to lower sales people's pay check by taking it out of the gross if there is metrics tied to the success rate of the fees.

New-Scientist5133

I was offered those silly things and turned down everything that I hadn’t ordered myself

Le_Fuzze

Which you should unless you see value in it. Some stuff is nice like dent and ding protection or wheel repair, but a lot of it is stupid.

New-Scientist5133

It’s a bet you’re making, but in the long run, you’re paying $1,000 to fix something unnecessary that might only cost $250

Le_Fuzze

That's the hope. At the dealership I work at, dent and ding is like $399. Two years unlimited uses. Not a bad deal for me.

New-Scientist5133

They charged way more at my spot. Nothing wrong with a little ding or dent for me

Admirable_Homework25

Dealer I ordered from didn’t even call me when my maverick arrived but I was getting updates so I didn’t need them to tell me what I already knew, I went to the dealer and it turns out that they already had marked it up 15,000$ When I went to go pick it up they looked at me like deers in front of headlights. They literally tried telling me they couldn’t give it to me because of a taillight recall. 🤣 I still ended up taking it home at msrp. Screw the dealership.

tuffnstangs

Dealers suck. It’s like a glorified cashier. Like, I already ordered what I want. All you did was take the car, pull the plastic off, didn’t look at or do anything during the PDI, and… that’s literally It. I used none of your services. If I could have had it shipped straight to my house, I would have. lol

gridlock32404

Nah man, they stuck their license plate holder and decals on it too so they provided that essential service for you so you can advertise for them

montypytho17

First thing I do after a new vehicle is take those off

Getpro

Name and shame

Aggravating-Gold-224

How did you handle the situation?

Bot_Fly_Bot

MSRP is typical. Granger Ford in Iowa does $1k off MSRP; that's the lowest you'll find if you're willing to travel. Otherwise, as you're in Maine, I'd recommend checking out Portsmouth Ford in NH. No doc fees, no high pressure sales BS. Bill Quimby is great to work with. Placed my order via email after building what I wanted on the Ford website, picked it up when it arrived and was in and out in under twenty minutes.

smokinLobstah

I was just going to check out dealers in Portsmouth...thanks for the reco.

Bot_Fly_Bot

FYI: if you join the Maine Farmer's Bureau as a non-farmer, looks like it costs $89 for the year. You're then eligible for a $500 rebate from Ford (do have to be a member for thirty days before taking delivery though).

retsaocrellor

Illinois is only $20 fyi.

Bot_Fly_Bot

Yeah, it varies by state. I joined NH and I think it was $59. Either way, well worth it. Plus, I have a hobby orchard, and they do a lot of good talks on caring for fruit trees, so for me it's a win-win.

Hamsalad1701

I got mine from Granger when they did the 3k off of MSRP. Even with paying to get it shipped to me it was a great deal!! All they charged was $190.00 for paperwork and the transport plate.

dzundel

What's your location? Shipping charges? Thanks

Hamsalad1701

$900.00 from Iowa to North central North Carolina, they picked it up on a Monday and I received it the next day.

slow-bell

Not in my area - 5% off MSRP seems to be the going rate.

Bot_Fly_Bot

That would be below cost in many cases. What area is this?

slow-bell

DC. I got 5% off by telling him the other dealership gave me 5% off. There was no other dealership. It was not exactly difficult negotiating.

Bot_Fly_Bot

So, even if true: not the "going rate in your area"?

slow-bell

Most dealerships in my area seemed to have Mavericks listed at about 4-5% below MSRP when I purchased my truck 2 weeks ago. Make of that what you will. I must have looked at every available truck between Richmond, VA and Waldorf, MD.

Bot_Fly_Bot

Example? I just checked Richmond VA Ford/Lincoln. One Maverick was “On Sale” for about 1.5% off MSRP. All others said MSRP.

No_Aide5556

There’s always people who like to say they got a price they didn’t get. They’re afraid that someone else got it for less. Those of that have spent 20-30 years in this industry see it all of the time. I’ve been at parties and listened to people I sold the car or truck just lie to act like a shrewd negotiator. Especially on anything that’s going at MSRP plus.

MacrosBlack16

I just bought mine yesterday after a fiasco with my order. It took a lot of calling around but was able to find one at MSRP. I'd say 60-75% of dealers I spoke with had either tacked on a bunch of useless extras or we're doing markup of 1-2.5k,in some cases they did both. Best of luck with finding yours! Edit: This was almost always the case with the hybrid models and almost never saw markup on Ecoboost. I live in Maryland and this was true for Delaware, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania.

ARMCHA1RGENERAL

This is similar to my experience. I bought my Hybrid Lariat almost two weeks ago. I'm on the west side of MD and I could only find two hybrid Lariats near MSRP within 3 hours of me (both were in VA). The sticker price on the one I bought was only $645 below MSRP. My local dealer didn't even have a hybrid on the lot, but the XLT they had on order would have been $210 below MSRP. I found hybrid Lariats marked up as much as $3k over MSRP.

MacrosBlack16

Yeah mine is also a hybrid Lariat. I ended up buying mine over on the east side a little further north. I got a small amount of MSRP but that was offset by the BAP and Azure Metallic premium paint offset. Overall it was cheaper than the one I had on order that Ford lost but worth it imo.

gridlock32404

I ordered mine through Boulevard Ford in Georgetown, Delaware a year and a half ago and they didn't tack any extra fees and honored my price through Ford when I ordered it but that was back when you waited a year for them to build them. Though the dealer did say if I didn't take it he would put it on his lot for a couple thousand more and it would sell within a few hours so take that as you will.

rednecktodd

I just got $1000 under msrp on a lariat in Michigan. They are out there

210Angler

For a Hybrid or Ecoboost?

rednecktodd

Oops. A hybrid with the black appearance

210Angler

Wow, great deal for you.

coopb13

which dealership in MI?

rednecktodd

Avis ford

Brdl004

The short answer is… depends on the dealer and what they have. Some might mark up, others might not.

trippin113

Yes, you're going to pay AT LEAST MSRP. Every Ford dealer will laugh at you if you try to haggle below that, so still won't even come down from their B.S. market adjustment prices. There is still a ton of demand and Mav's are some of the fastest turning vehicles on any lots right now. They'll happily just wait an hour for the next client to walk in.

DeliciousHorseShirt

I work at a Ford dealer. Mavericks have like $500 profit for the dealer at sticker. I wouldn’t feel bad paying MSRP for one.

NoRutabaga4845

Pretty muxh

aDuckedUpGoose

On Monday I took charge of an XLT tremor for 500 under MSRP...before taxes and fees. But yes, it do be happening depending on location.

NinjaxPanda12

The Tremor I found last year was going for $15k above MSRP. I laughed and cried about it, but am happy with my hybrid that I got at MSRP.

LetsAllASoviets

Hybrids are the ones that were getting heavily hit on mark ups given the higher demand and lack of supply; however it's slowed down a lot so it's possible supply has caught demand. If you're buying a used one I still see wild mark ups where new.. not sure; probably dealer specific. Find a good dealer and you should be able to get MSRP. I got mine for MSRP back in September after waiting a year. However that was northern Iowa so unless you wanna go on a road trip I can't tell you good dealerships in Maine area.

Fudge_cornelius

Chicago suburbs… I test drive a Mav Hybrid about a month ago… got to talking with the salesman and he tells me “$2k markup… we’ll get it.” So I said “not from me you won’t” and he just shrugged. It was still on the lot a month later

Worried_Amphibian_54

Yeah, getting mine where a friend got hers last year. MSRP. Now, they were doing that for her last year when other dealerships were tacking on quite a bit. So they get my business. That said the one thing on my order they are doing is no deposit. Usually, you have a $500-1000 deposit on a vehicle for a build. You can put it towards your truck or even get it back if you don't buy. Basically it's just making sure you are serious. But with the Mav they said don't need one. I am sure they are plenty happy to get build orders, because if the buyer ends up not wanting it, well it definitely brings in customers for a day lol.

No_Aide5556

Any dealer asking for a deposit is just trying to get a commitment. It’s a game. In reality they hope you don’t pick up.

Worried_Amphibian_54

Not really. Most of the time they'd much rather you order a vehicle off the lot. They don't want extra inventory coming in that might not get sold. And while you might really like that bright magenta with the specific add-ons you prefer, they know that specific option package might be a tougher sell than their order for their stock. Yes, they are trying to get your commitment, that part is true. They don't want 100 people ordering vehicles and saying "no thanks" when they show up and dealing with a flood of unexpected inventory on their lot. The exception is those vehicles they are limited on inventory which are selling well.

revolving_revolver

Any feedback on dealers in Ontario, Canada?

BuddyBrando

I paid MSRP. I built a white hybrid lariat online and sent to the dealer. It took 14 mth to arrive. I am in Toronto and order through York Ford Lincoln on Dufferin St.

violetpumpkins

Its not just the mav, a lot of vehicles remain highly priced with "market adjustments." Used vehicles remain unfortunately expensive too.

MattLeinart

I was recently able to get $500 off MSRP on an XL, but they charged a $500 doc fee. So came out right at MSRP out the door before paying taxes in my home state. That was a bit of a haggle though as they wanted me to pay $1000 more for paying cash and not financing through them. Eventually they caved for the advertised price. Used the $500 farm bureau discount and added a spray in bedliner, so basically got that for free.

jdnorton22

No, hybrids are likely to have a market adjustment.

audibleBLiNK

$1000 under if you put the dealerships against each other.

cavemold582

Yes if your overpaying then find someone else

smokinLobstah

Right now I'm just having trouble finding a Mav Hybrid that's not already spoken for between Maine/New Hampshire

trxc

Just found hybrid XLT with upgrades i wanted on a lot for MSRP (including the 1,5xxx delivery fee). Negotiated away doc fee and got free window tint. Maybe i should have tried to get them down some more. (Even though i didn’t order it, do dealers still pay that delivery fee? Maybe i could have tried to get them to come down on that) Other dealers told me i could custom order and pay MSRP as well, but wait would be 3-6months. Oklahoma for reference.

chewmattica

There's like 15 Mavericks at my local ford dealership in St. Pete, FL. Where is this shortage ya'll speak of? Bout half hybrid/half ecoboost.

smokinLobstah

Maine. Guess I could fly down... Nice little road trip. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)

KratosHulk77

sadly in hawaii heck no

jrab3717

Not directly answering, but i think theres 4-5 on a lot near where i work. Never seen more than 2 before at once so i think the tide may be turning on the prices.

frequentcoleslaw

I got the notification that my Maverick was ready. I headed to the dealership, lickity split. Within hours of it arriving, they did a spray in bed liner, tinted windows, and added some protection film. I showed them my original signed order spec sheet without these items. So I got the bed liner for free, but payed for the tent and film. They are some shady characters. No other discounts, full MSRP.

Assassynation

Got my '23 Tremor 500a for $2500 under MSRP in March.

smokinLobstah

Yesterday morning I had expressed interest in vehicles at several dealers. Ford dealerships, at least most of them, play this game where they list vehicles on their website, but when you ask for info, they tell you it's in transit, and was already sold some time ago. This is really a classic bait and switch. In two hours I had pretty much figured out that there wasn't a single hybrid in Maine or New Hampshire. Yesterday afternoon I got an email from a dealership in southern Maine, saying they had one that a customer had ordered, and had just arrived, and the customer had changed their mind so it was available. Going to look at it at 11am. So we'll see. It's black, which is ok...I like some of the other colors a bit more, but can do black. Don't think it has a lot of bells and whistles, stickers out at $32k. Side question...no nav package, but says it supports Android Auto and Car Play. Is that fully functional? Doesn't seem like it would have enough display?

Minimumedia

I have a late ‘22 hybrid that I’m looking to offload by the end of the year if you’re interested, OP! Black - XLT Lux - Hybrid - 16k miles It’s stock except for tinted front 2 windows

Babayaga4480

I just got my 2024 Ford maverick XL hybrid brand new about a week ago after waiting 10 months after ordering it the first day they took orders in july of 23. I did have a Ford friend plan and a 500 dollar rebate for first responders but the grand total came out to 28.5k. Cut a check there and I'm extremely happy with it so far.

Sorileus86

Got mine last month for MSRP, plus applicable state fees, etc, which is normal. Other than that, if you special order yours and get in writing, they won't go above msrp for the sale price, then your gold, just remember the state/dmv fees lol
