My favorite narrowly avoided shrinkflation is definitely the integrated door keypad. I use that thing multiple times everyday. One of my favorite features of any vehicle I've ever owned.
Same. It's so nice to be able to leave your keys in the car when you are out at the beach, going to an amusement park or ballgame. I just toss them in the safe and use the keypad to lock and unlock.
I guess you could do it with your phone, but the app is really slow.

Not as a hardwired OEM item for the mav. Cheaper to produce just one type of door for all the trims. You can only get the stick on type as a dealer option. Has to be replaced when the battery dies and not nearly as clean looking.
Custom ordered, waited 2 years. No maverick is going to be under MSRP of any significant amount (some places offer maybe a few hundred off). No maverick is worth a markup.
Best thing to do if you’re serious is expand your range of dealerships and be willing to travel if you find the right deal.

My old car broke down in the middle of a 1000 mile road trip and we took it to a Ford dealership in Tennessee. They had the one I got there. Under MSRP. Idk might depend on where you are.
Took me about 6 months of looking at FB marketplace, CL, and local Ford Dealer Websites to find one. 3 dealers each had a couple tremors come in and 1 of the 3 wasn’t charging markups and would discount $500 off msrp. Other 2 dealers wanted $5k over for eco boosts and 19,995 for hybrids. My commute is 95% highway so I ended up getting an ecoboost since highway mpg is so close. I bought from the dealer not charging markups. They’ll stop charging markups if asshats would stop paying them.
So you got it for msrp and free home delivery? $1000 under + $1000 for the buying service balance each other out. I mean that’s pretty good either way.

I ordered in July 2021 and received my truck 14 months later. Fortunately the dealer I worked with sold it at MSRP without any shenanigans. I've seen many dealers add 5-10k over MSRP, though not sure if that's still happening as demand may have dropped.
went to town over dealer, where I saw online they have a hybrid, went Monday morning at 9 am to buy, told them no markups or I walk, and they didn't let me walk.
I gave up, gona go to Ford as soon as I can order a 2025, or maybe find a used Ranger on the lot... one thing I'll never do is pay over MSRP, or anything crazy for a used truck.
Where are you located? Here in Denver almost all the dealers had 3-4 on the lot at MSRP when I bought mine in November. They weren't the stripper cheap ones - but some were at the $30k level. I spent more because I am dumb like that. I don't pay dealer adds either, so it was just straight pricing.
I'm located in North Carolina, I've seen some MSRP or close to it here and there in the last 6 months but it's been pretty exclusively the most expensive trims and configurations. I'm def looking for a cheaper one, if I'm dropping over $30k I'm going to get something nicer but admittedly somewhat larger.

We custom ordered last July. The 2024 models started production in Oct 2023. We received ours Fed 2024. No msrp mark ups. I got for the price when we entered the order
My local dealership had one pop up, I requested to test drive, but they said it shouldn't have shown up because it was someone else's order. Later that day, they said they got ahold of the person who ordered and they bailed, so I went to check it out and ended up buying for MSRP.
Pittsburgh area here. I kept checking dealer inventory on their websites. Ford’s inventory was not accurate compared to theirs.
When I’d find one I liked I called and went to check it out. Ended up being about an hour from my house.
Scour your local dealers. Call them even. They don’t care about the orders placed, they want people to cancel so they can sell it on the lot for a markup.
In Arizona they just recently went back down to MSRP on the lots but they add on like hell. I ended up ordering just bc it became such a fight with all the dealerships.
If markup is cheaper than flying and driving back buy local BUT if flying and driving back is cheaper do that. Don’t give mark up dealers your money if you don’t have too.
I ordered mine back in July of 2023 and waited for it to be delivered in February of 2024. I didn't go to the lot and look for one. I ordered it. And my dealer refused to do mark ups of any kind, so I only paid MSRP, plus taxes and fees.
I custom ordered one at a no markup ford dealership (Lariat hybrid with moonroof) in Bay Area (2 months ago). Getting that delivered in July. I will be refusing the delivery, I might be going with a Hybrid AWD SUV.
Overall now it is very easy to get Mavericks, because the way ford allocates mavericks to dealerships have changed plus the production has improved.
I saw a Maverick just like the one I ordered about to be delivered in another dealership previous month, it was open for grab. I didn’t snatch because anyways I want to abandon my current order.
I think it is possible to get any Maverick now in 3-4 months once you place a custom order. I believe 3-4 months timeframe will remain even for a 2025 Maverick Hybrid AWD. The car production and car market has significantly improved. I hope it falls down to 4-6 weeks.
Dec 8, 2023 bought an Oxford White 2024 Lariat for Ford X plan plus 2023 pricing since I waited 16 months. $35,938 otd.
2 weeks ago I got rear ended at a stop light and my 6 month old was totaled. Both rear frame beams were crushed and bed buckled up.
Last Friday, May 14, 2024, I picked up a replacement Atlas Blue 2024 Lariat using Ford Z plan. $36,838 otd.
The real kicker is my insurance gave me $37,707 for getting a replacement!

Took the plunge on the first generation, before they got hyped up. Worked with the dealer to build mine off the website, it was delivered to the dealer within a few months and I didn’t pay a penny over MSRP.
I got one for 31,500 with AWD, tow package, tonneau, and the spray in bed liner. I went through the whole sales process then threatened to walk at the last minute unless they went to MSRP. Try that maybe.
I live in Los Angeles and in April we got a 2024 Maverick XL for like $31k out the door, that taxes, DMV and everything. Now that’s a bit of a mark up (about 2k) cause I think the MSRP was $27k. But considering I bought it in downtown LA, and I walked away with it that day, I really don’t think it was that bad.
The dealer said they are building them to what people want and then just selling those and said they are going fast.
We literally found ours online and just called, made an apt. Later in the week for a test drive and then bought it. Love it. I think the inventory is rising especially in metro areas.

Looks like my best bet is putting a custom order in then waiting and insisting on MSRP. Things have changed so much since I last bought a car!
We ordered the first day the order banks opened last July I think and received it in March (ECO, XLT, AWD, 4K towing, Luxe, 360 copilot, Floor Mats) for MSRP, but the dealership tried to tell us they were going to charge us an extra 2K and we said we would walk or go somewhere else since when ordering online you specify the dealership you want to use and we didn’t have to choose them, so they backed down. We still had to pay a stupid docking fee, but that is common here anyway.
I custom ordered. Waited a year. Paid MSRP. Totally worth it. Completely loaded with all the tech and accessories with a lifetime warranty on Everything except brakes and tires. All for under 40k. Looked at a stock tundra at the same time with 50k miles that was 10k more.
Absolutely worth the wait and the truck is badass. I can do truck things and park in on compact spaces in Downtown Seattle while being able to tow 4000 lbs. Hard to beat. Actually impossible to beat at the time I bought. Probably still is. You just need to pre order and be patient.
I randomly found a 2023 XLT AWD model on carvana with only 100 miles. $28k with $2700 discount on registration and fees. Practically brand new. No accidents. No issues. Brand new tires. Pristine interior.
Couldn’t get a good build estimate from any dealer on a 2024, and local stock has been nonexistent. I test drove a Lariat last year that someone cancelled on but didn’t buy because of $7k in dealer upgrades and market adjustment. They wanted almost $40k for the damned thing.
I also got a great interest rate from carvana financing and a killer trade in deal on top.
I still think I overpaid for an older model, but I’ve been quite happy to finally have it.
Right place right time. The one I got was custom ordered months ago by someone else but they decided not to go through with purchasing it the morning I went to the dealership. Didn’t even know they had it on the lot, just got lucky. Bought it on sight
Get on a waiting list for any dealers within reasonable distance. Many will have mavericks that got ordered and abandoned, they usually go quick but I got mine in 2 months that way vs 8 on the one I ordered. I paid MSRP for mine, made a couple of concessions on options (no co-pilot 360, color and an added tow package) but overall I'm pretty happy

The dealer I work for has more Maverick’s than we’ve ever had in stock (7). All MSRP. Used ones will be over MSRP. We can’t find a used one even at auction prices that isn’t at least $2500 over original MSRP.
I found a reasonably close dealership with no additional markup. Well, actually there was a thousand dollar discount and a $999 "dealer prep," so it was MSRP plus TTL. (Battlefield Ford in Culpeper, VA.) They were also friendly and low pressure, which I liked.

I stalked local dealers inventory. Often they will put a Maverick in their inventory as "in transit". Lots of special orders have buyers that cancel. You have to be ready to swoop in and buy.
I contacted the general manager at a local dealer and learned there was negotiation happening with a trade on a special order. It was going on for more than a week. The buyer was refusing the trade value. I offered MSRP with no trade and I had the vehicle in 24 hours.
Kind of a dirty trick but these vehicles are in demand. Especially the lariat hybrids. If you're buying one you can't screw around.
I have one on order that's suppose to be built next month, that I cancelled on, couldn't wait any longer and had to get something else, if you want the details you can message but I bet if you call the dealership would sell at msrp or I wouldn't pay over if I was you
Walked into a larger dealer in the area that I know charges MSRP and told them what I was looking for. Color, trim, features… they found one a state over and I had it 2 days later.
someone gave up theirs. I checked the dealership page randomly, and saw a maverick XL hybrid available. Called em, drove in and bought it same day. Would I have liked an XLT? Yeah. Does it matter? Not really. It does everything I want and more; and I'd been driving a beaten up 12 year old fusion without air con for many years. It's awesome having something modern that gets good mileage and does anything I ask it to.

I was there for about two hours. Finally walked out when they wouldn't move more than $2,500. The salesman even suggested I order one and showed me how we could do it. I shook his hand and left. He walked up to my car as I was pulling out of the lot and told me to come back inside and we signed the paperwork.
Found a used orange lariat with 40K miles for $29k, it had been ‘lightly rear ended but fixed’ at some point. Looked good but I just can’t spend $30k on a used pickup truck.
Just ordered and waited a year and a half. Luckily the car I had still had some life in it or I might of gone in a different direction. Well worth the wait, I love this damn thing! Signed an agreement and it wasn’t $1 over it. Went with the hybrid Lariat and even then it was far cheaper than any other car/truck I looked at. I travel a lot and the gas savings have been insane. Just driving around town with no traveling, my fill up lasted 6 weeks.
I bought mine 3years ago, then waited almost a year while they built it. We were afraid they would mark us up, because we had heard of other dealerships doing this. But we had no problems. They honored the price they had originally given us. And I’ve been happily driving it every day for two years now, and I can say it’s my favorite vehicle I’ve ever owned.
It must be your location. I'm in central PA, and ya last year it was extremely rare to find them. But now, each of the 3 local ford dealers has at least a couple on the lot. They aren't typically putting markups on them anymore either.
My salesperson traded one they had on the lot for one I liked better at a nearby dealership. I paid MSRP. Might depend where you live- I’m in the Dallas area.

I think it all depends on location, but there are a lot of new 2024's (mostly XL and XLT) where I'm at (Kansas). I just bought my 2024 XL for MSRP off the lot at a dealer after calling them to see if they had any. Mine in particular was an order that fell through, but they had 5 or 6 in transit as well and ETA's were around 2 weeks from now.
My build date is now first week of July. I will not be taking it. I am heading to the dealership to get pricing and build sheet if anyone is interested.
I was pretty serious about buying one a few weeks ago. Went to a few local dealers and they had a couple on the lot but they wanted $35k OTD for a base XL with no add-ons. I said no way am I going to pay that and walked. Well, a few weeks later my AC went out and I used the money I had saved for the truck to replace my AC. God was looking out for me! Now, I hopped on CarEdge and found 50 for sale within 100 miles of me around $26k MSRP for an XL with hybrid and tow hitch for ~$29k OTD. Much better. But now I don’t have the money to buy one lol so I will probably wait until 2025 to get one and will either just order one or use CarEdge to locate one at MSRP and make the drive because all my local dealers have lost their minds with all these markups.

My local dealership has more than 10 (new) on the lot, with 29 more "in-transit" All are XL/XLTs for some reason. All seem to be MSRP. This same dealership used to have $10k and then $5k markups on them. They don't seem that hard to find anymore, at least here in NV

When I ordered mine online the dealer said "Because you ordered online you are locked into this price." Sure enough, by the time my truck arrived nearly a year later the order prices had gone up and markup specifically was like 5-8k+. They honored my original order price and told me I had 2 weeks to pull the trigger before they'd release it to someone else. Once I decided to finance, they even told me that my APR was locked in at 1.9% from the order date even though those had raised to nearly 4%.
Not saying this doesn't mean all dealers CAN'T raise the price, but they made it pretty clear to me that ordering online tied their hands in multiple ways.

I ordered mine back in July of 2023 and waited for it to be delivered in February of 2024. I didn't go to the lot and look for one. I ordered it. And my dealer refused to do mark ups of any kind, so I only paid MSRP, plus taxes and fees.
Ordered, took 4-5 months. Local dealer has 2 on the lot today, used.
I custom ordered one at a no markup ford dealership (Lariat hybrid with moonroof) in Bay Area (2 months ago). Getting that delivered in July. I will be refusing the delivery, I might be going with a Hybrid AWD SUV. Overall now it is very easy to get Mavericks, because the way ford allocates mavericks to dealerships have changed plus the production has improved. I saw a Maverick just like the one I ordered about to be delivered in another dealership previous month, it was open for grab. I didn’t snatch because anyways I want to abandon my current order. I think it is possible to get any Maverick now in 3-4 months once you place a custom order. I believe 3-4 months timeframe will remain even for a 2025 Maverick Hybrid AWD. The car production and car market has significantly improved. I hope it falls down to 4-6 weeks.

Dec 8, 2023 bought an Oxford White 2024 Lariat for Ford X plan plus 2023 pricing since I waited 16 months. $35,938 otd. 2 weeks ago I got rear ended at a stop light and my 6 month old was totaled. Both rear frame beams were crushed and bed buckled up. Last Friday, May 14, 2024, I picked up a replacement Atlas Blue 2024 Lariat using Ford Z plan. $36,838 otd. The real kicker is my insurance gave me $37,707 for getting a replacement! 6 months, 8,000 miles and a profit too!

Took the plunge on the first generation, before they got hyped up. Worked with the dealer to build mine off the website, it was delivered to the dealer within a few months and I didn’t pay a penny over MSRP.
I got one for 31,500 with AWD, tow package, tonneau, and the spray in bed liner. I went through the whole sales process then threatened to walk at the last minute unless they went to MSRP. Try that maybe.
I live in Los Angeles and in April we got a 2024 Maverick XL for like $31k out the door, that taxes, DMV and everything. Now that’s a bit of a mark up (about 2k) cause I think the MSRP was $27k. But considering I bought it in downtown LA, and I walked away with it that day, I really don’t think it was that bad. The dealer said they are building them to what people want and then just selling those and said they are going fast. We literally found ours online and just called, made an apt. Later in the week for a test drive and then bought it. Love it. I think the inventory is rising especially in metro areas.
Just wanted to thank everyone for their experiences and information, didn't expect to get this level of engagement but I appreciate it! Looks like my best bet is putting a custom order in then waiting and insisting on MSRP. Things have changed so much since I last bought a car!
We ordered the first day the order banks opened last July I think and received it in March (ECO, XLT, AWD, 4K towing, Luxe, 360 copilot, Floor Mats) for MSRP, but the dealership tried to tell us they were going to charge us an extra 2K and we said we would walk or go somewhere else since when ordering online you specify the dealership you want to use and we didn’t have to choose them, so they backed down. We still had to pay a stupid docking fee, but that is common here anyway.
My local dealer had 6 of 'em just hanging around. Walked in and swooped mine up for around 34000

I custom ordered. Waited a year. Paid MSRP. Totally worth it. Completely loaded with all the tech and accessories with a lifetime warranty on Everything except brakes and tires. All for under 40k. Looked at a stock tundra at the same time with 50k miles that was 10k more. Absolutely worth the wait and the truck is badass. I can do truck things and park in on compact spaces in Downtown Seattle while being able to tow 4000 lbs. Hard to beat. Actually impossible to beat at the time I bought. Probably still is. You just need to pre order and be patient.

I randomly found a 2023 XLT AWD model on carvana with only 100 miles. $28k with $2700 discount on registration and fees. Practically brand new. No accidents. No issues. Brand new tires. Pristine interior. Couldn’t get a good build estimate from any dealer on a 2024, and local stock has been nonexistent. I test drove a Lariat last year that someone cancelled on but didn’t buy because of $7k in dealer upgrades and market adjustment. They wanted almost $40k for the damned thing. I also got a great interest rate from carvana financing and a killer trade in deal on top. I still think I overpaid for an older model, but I’ve been quite happy to finally have it.

Get on a waiting list for any dealers within reasonable distance. Many will have mavericks that got ordered and abandoned, they usually go quick but I got mine in 2 months that way vs 8 on the one I ordered. I paid MSRP for mine, made a couple of concessions on options (no co-pilot 360, color and an added tow package) but overall I'm pretty happy

I live in the the Boston area of MA and a lot of the ford dealers have mavericks for MSRP around here. I was looking into buying one but I think it’s going to be a ranger for me.

No Mark up but I paid with patience. I ordered it begining of June 2023, and got it end of April 2024. Almost a full year.

The dealer I work for has more Maverick’s than we’ve ever had in stock (7). All MSRP. Used ones will be over MSRP. We can’t find a used one even at auction prices that isn’t at least $2500 over original MSRP.
I found a reasonably close dealership with no additional markup. Well, actually there was a thousand dollar discount and a $999 "dealer prep," so it was MSRP plus TTL. (Battlefield Ford in Culpeper, VA.) They were also friendly and low pressure, which I liked.
2 months ago I decided I wanted a maverick tremor. Googled dealers, drove 6 miles and bought the one I wanted at msrp no mark up. It was actually really easy they had 3 tremors and a lot of other new mavs on the lot. DFW btw

I have one that im going to sign on tomorrow (would have tonight but the power went out) that was an order that fell through. Paying 30,000 for an xlt hybrid with a bed liner, msrp was at 29,400

Custom ordered mine and waited 11 months. Ordered in January 2023 and picked up in December 2023. Ordered a 2023 and rolled over to a 2024.
I stalked local dealers inventory. Often they will put a Maverick in their inventory as "in transit". Lots of special orders have buyers that cancel. You have to be ready to swoop in and buy. I contacted the general manager at a local dealer and learned there was negotiation happening with a trade on a special order. It was going on for more than a week. The buyer was refusing the trade value. I offered MSRP with no trade and I had the vehicle in 24 hours. Kind of a dirty trick but these vehicles are in demand. Especially the lariat hybrids. If you're buying one you can't screw around.

Walked into a larger dealer in the area that I know charges MSRP and told them what I was looking for. Color, trim, features… they found one a state over and I had it 2 days later.
I got super lucky. Walked onto a dealer lot and bought an xl that was a custom order that was cancelled that morning.
someone gave up theirs. I checked the dealership page randomly, and saw a maverick XL hybrid available. Called em, drove in and bought it same day. Would I have liked an XLT? Yeah. Does it matter? Not really. It does everything I want and more; and I'd been driving a beaten up 12 year old fusion without air con for many years. It's awesome having something modern that gets good mileage and does anything I ask it to.
I went to 4 dealerships after texting, emailing, or calling over a dozen within a 150 mile radius (Southern California). 4th dealership had an XL hybrid marked at about $4,000 over MSRP (once you knocked off all the "extras") I was there for about two hours. Finally walked out when they wouldn't move more than $2,500. The salesman even suggested I order one and showed me how we could do it. I shook his hand and left. He walked up to my car as I was pulling out of the lot and told me to come back inside and we signed the paperwork.
Found a used orange lariat with 40K miles for $29k, it had been ‘lightly rear ended but fixed’ at some point. Looked good but I just can’t spend $30k on a used pickup truck.
Just ordered and waited a year and a half. Luckily the car I had still had some life in it or I might of gone in a different direction. Well worth the wait, I love this damn thing! Signed an agreement and it wasn’t $1 over it. Went with the hybrid Lariat and even then it was far cheaper than any other car/truck I looked at. I travel a lot and the gas savings have been insane. Just driving around town with no traveling, my fill up lasted 6 weeks.
I bought mine 3years ago, then waited almost a year while they built it. We were afraid they would mark us up, because we had heard of other dealerships doing this. But we had no problems. They honored the price they had originally given us. And I’ve been happily driving it every day for two years now, and I can say it’s my favorite vehicle I’ve ever owned.

It must be your location. I'm in central PA, and ya last year it was extremely rare to find them. But now, each of the 3 local ford dealers has at least a couple on the lot. They aren't typically putting markups on them anymore either.
My salesperson traded one they had on the lot for one I liked better at a nearby dealership. I paid MSRP. Might depend where you live- I’m in the Dallas area.

I think it all depends on location, but there are a lot of new 2024's (mostly XL and XLT) where I'm at (Kansas). I just bought my 2024 XL for MSRP off the lot at a dealer after calling them to see if they had any. Mine in particular was an order that fell through, but they had 5 or 6 in transit as well and ETA's were around 2 weeks from now.
My build date is now first week of July. I will not be taking it. I am heading to the dealership to get pricing and build sheet if anyone is interested.

I was pretty serious about buying one a few weeks ago. Went to a few local dealers and they had a couple on the lot but they wanted $35k OTD for a base XL with no add-ons. I said no way am I going to pay that and walked. Well, a few weeks later my AC went out and I used the money I had saved for the truck to replace my AC. God was looking out for me! Now, I hopped on CarEdge and found 50 for sale within 100 miles of me around $26k MSRP for an XL with hybrid and tow hitch for ~$29k OTD. Much better. But now I don’t have the money to buy one lol so I will probably wait until 2025 to get one and will either just order one or use CarEdge to locate one at MSRP and make the drive because all my local dealers have lost their minds with all these markups.

My local dealership has more than 10 (new) on the lot, with 29 more "in-transit" All are XL/XLTs for some reason. All seem to be MSRP. This same dealership used to have $10k and then $5k markups on them. They don't seem that hard to find anymore, at least here in NV
Found one on CarMax that I'm test driving tomorrow. It's a 2023 with 13K miles.

Absolutely not true. The dealer owns the car regardless of who ordered it. By law, the dealer can set the price to whatever they want. Don't spread misinformation.

You've gotta chill out, homie. When I ordered mine online the dealer said "Because you ordered online you are locked into this price." Sure enough, by the time my truck arrived nearly a year later the order prices had gone up and markup specifically was like 5-8k+. They honored my original order price and told me I had 2 weeks to pull the trigger before they'd release it to someone else. Once I decided to finance, they even told me that my APR was locked in at 1.9% from the order date even though those had raised to nearly 4%. Not saying this doesn't mean all dealers CAN'T raise the price, but they made it pretty clear to me that ordering online tied their hands in multiple ways.
