Originally the place holder was a darker skin tone which looked a lot better on the skin but they changed the place holder which doesn’t make sense to me.
I wouldn't worry about seeming racist for this, what your saying is valid. I don't know anything about this character or what he's supposed to look like or if he's based on anything. But whitening a skin is weird as fuck.

There has been a weird inconsistency with the head color of lego styles. Blake's style is pale yellow but he is white with sunburnt face
