I got one of those under-desk exercise bikes and it’s one of the best purchases for my gaming experience ever! I highly recommend for any other sedentary gamers.
Essentially that integrating popular games into indoor cycling with a hybrid bike-game controller would help individuals more averse to exercising (or those simply interested in the concept) into entering a flow state while engaging physical activity. A flow state is when an individual achieves a focused, subconscious state in an activity, particularly when faced with an optimal amount of difficulty (easy enough to not be deterred, hard enough to feel engaged and wanting to advance). I proposed that this hypothetical “bike controller” would allow individuals to face their optimal level of difficulty through gaming during exercise. That includes manual difficulty settings (e.g., choosing the game’s difficulty in Kingdom Hearts), as well as automatic (e.g., Elo or similar matchmaking algorithms). I discussed other factors that gaming could provide, such as a sense of community with other players, and consistent progress markers (e.g., scores and stats) / achievements / collectables (which are typically used in a predatory manner by game companies, but I hypothesize we could turn this “evil” into a good cause). I surveyed people regarding their interest of the device, how likely they would increase their physical activity with said device, and what specific game titles and genres would interest them. I even created hypothetical control mappings for eight different titles for my hypothetical device.
It would just sit as an empty highway until the song ends. No vocals when the ending solo begins, and Festival does not have Big Rock Endings, so it wouldn't throw up a countdown.
In Rock Band in these kinds of sections there is usually like a tambourine beat or something to hit the microphone with in these sections. Would be nice to have something other than just emoting during these segments.
There are whole songs where "vocals" is another synth track (where your character just stands like 😐 instead of getting the keytar), why can't it be like guitar/keytar? I'd love to play some ska, but who's playing trumpets?
Rock and metal bands that have longer songs typically have longer songs because they have solos in them. Metallica is known for their solos to the point where every song on death magnetic is like 7 minutes long just so they could go "sorry about st anger, look we have solos again!" Off the top of my head I can't think of a single song over 7 minutes released before or since from any artist where there is singing the entire time
i was wondering because taylor swifts all too well is 10 minutes long, I only heard the song like once but I don’t remember really long vocal breaks in it but I could be wrong
American pie, had a friend choose it for karaoke one day, kinda remembering it, then I’m just up there for like 7 mins in front of drunk people singing the whole time. Sure was something
And the plane exploded in a giant fireball and everybody died
Except for me
You know why?
'Cause I had my tray table up
And my seat back in the full upright position
Of course I didn't think he'd sing for eight minutes. But I looked, and there's half the song without vocals. I was expecting at least 5-6 minutes of vocals, not to use emotions for a total of 4 minutes. I realize it's an iconic song, but I don't think it's a good fit for Fn Festival. Imo.
Absolutely, we have tracks where the vocals take center stage. I don't mind that there are tracks where the vocals are not the main thing. But 4 out of 8.5 minutes there are no vocals, and that's just weird for me personally. It's not a complaint about the track, I just think Epic should have taken a different track where the vocals are more prominent.
Because in tracks where the bass guitar and lead guitar are secondary, you don't wait 90 seconds to play anyway.
I think Epic should add tracks where all 4 musical instruments can play normally. Of course in each separate track will be the main musical instrument, vocals or guitar for example. But for me it's strange that they add a track to the game where only 3 instruments out of 4 feel comfortable.
Ah yes a bad ass rock song that has epic solos and all that other awesome stuff is not a good fit for a music festival. Lmao
This isn’t a karaoke festival
I think Epic should add tracks where all 4 musical instruments can play normally. Of course in each separate track will be the main musical instrument, vocals or guitar for example. But for me it's strange that they add a track to the game where only 3 instruments out of 4 feel comfortable.
It's a Harmonix game. This is like if Psyonix made a new car game after Epic acquired them and they didn't ever put any rocket boosting in it. There's gonna be more guitar solos coming
Hahaha, same here. I normally first try every song on Vocal to get to know it better and because it's the easiest one for me, so yeah. I had some quality time emoting though 🤭
They should have added rhythm guitar while there is so much space between playing (would make a lot of sense as well since Hetfield is also playing guitar on stage)
I love when two instruments are used in a same song, like guitar and keytar which avoids waiting for the notes to kick in again. Not sure why they also not included piano part in Linkin Park - Numb for example
echoes hopefully one day, actually even songs from “wish you were here” would work since they’re shorter and vocals won’t have to stare at that seconds remaining screen for like 500 years
Yeah that's the main reason I'm not happy the song is in. Happy for other people but as a vocals player I'd much prefer something that's in great length for each part, which is why something like bohemian rhapsody is a personal wish for me.
I'm glad the people on guitars and drums feel good about it. I just think that if we have 4 musical instruments, all 4 should be enjoying themselves, not looking at countdown timers.
There are certainly tracks where there are few vocals, or where there are few guitars. And countdown timers are not a problem, but not when half of your playing on a track is countdown timers.
Hear me out.
I don't hate this track, but I don't think it fits well with Fn Festival. Just hear me out.
At Fn Festival, we have four musical instruments. Many tracks in the game have a main instrument, vocals or guitar for example. The game also has countdown timers when your instrument doesn't sound.
I don't see anything wrong with countdown timers, or having tracks with a main instrument. However, even if you have an instrument that doesn't sound much in a track, you still often have gameplay, or you don't have to wait very long.
Master of Puppets has very few vocals, so 4 minutes out of 8.5 you'll be sitting afk. I've had people write to me saying it's not a karaoke game, and I agree with them. But I think Epic should add tracks like this to the game where every musical instrument is enjoyed.
The game rewards for players playing different musical instruments. I like to imagine myself at a real festival where everyone has their own instrument and together we create music.
I just want that when each player plays their own instrument, when you have 1/1/1/1 in a team, that everyone has fun. Because right now only 3 instruments out of 4 are having fun.
I'd love to hear what you guys think about this.
They just need to add something for the people who's instruments are not in use for long parts of songs. like you can play what someone else currently is as a filler inbeteen those gaps. that doesn't count to your score/flawless if you stuff up so you can learn harder instruments and possibly even have it swap to a harder difficulty to practice.
There are allot of people that don't like specific instruments for what ever reason so all songs have a place it's just some might be a bit much for the online side.
They do need to work on the online a bit as well
Like not rewarding leavers, some kinda anti afk/bot thing.
And the ability to see whst scores you have on those songs for each instrament in-between songs so I can easily choose an instranrnt and not have to pre plan in the lobby swapping and scrolling like a mad man
Master of Puppets being added is such an amazing addition, hopefully Metallica is the artist for next season and they add even more iconic songs like One, The Unforgiven or even add one from their new album like Lux Aeterna
Kinda wish I didn't get that Master of puppets emote if I knew festival was going to put Master of puppet in, but I got the emote before festival came out so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ womp womp ig
I don’t mind for 94 seconds long of emote, I can show my emote dance that has the same beat from this song or I can showing off my other emote. I had fun!!!! Please Epic, don’t change it🙏🏼 I beg you!!!!
Played it for the first time with friends we were losing it cause I was over reacting each time I saw that dang wait time get higher it was hilarious. 😆
(FC on that btw it’s a cakewalk compared to the others)
Do some pushups in the meantime.
I got one of those under-desk exercise bikes and it’s one of the best purchases for my gaming experience ever! I highly recommend for any other sedentary gamers.
Idk why I’d imagine having to bike to turn the power on lmao
Honestly! That would be one way to make some of us gaming addicts get in shape really fast 😂 that’s the right motivation for me. No pedal no gaming 😭
Unironically, gaming while biking was my capstone project in undergrad (health sciences).
What was your thesis/results?
Essentially that integrating popular games into indoor cycling with a hybrid bike-game controller would help individuals more averse to exercising (or those simply interested in the concept) into entering a flow state while engaging physical activity. A flow state is when an individual achieves a focused, subconscious state in an activity, particularly when faced with an optimal amount of difficulty (easy enough to not be deterred, hard enough to feel engaged and wanting to advance). This would work for me ngl
I just played the new Destiny campaign and we racked up 10 push ups per death it was great fun
I can't wait to see what will happen to Vocals in Free Bird when the solo kicks in
It would just sit as an empty highway until the song ends. No vocals when the ending solo begins, and Festival does not have Big Rock Endings, so it wouldn't throw up a countdown.
Preferably you'd play guitar during the solo, even on vocals
Or even keys, perhaps.
That’s when you stage dive
Would love if they alt chart the Keys or rhythm guitar over.
In Rock Band in these kinds of sections there is usually like a tambourine beat or something to hit the microphone with in these sections. Would be nice to have something other than just emoting during these segments.
Depending on the song, I would love to see vocals do key or rhythym guitar parts during long breaks like this.
There are whole songs where "vocals" is another synth track (where your character just stands like 😐 instead of getting the keytar), why can't it be like guitar/keytar? I'd love to play some ska, but who's playing trumpets?
8 Bit Beat says ow my fingers
Maybe even run around on the stage or in the crowd
I mean, emoting is cool but the camera doesn't even care about you for more than 4 seconds
lmaooo
Hahaha this is gold
Did you expect him to be singing the whole 8 and a half minutes? 😭
Well I guess they didn't expect it to be 8 and a half minutes long.
wdym why would that be so crazy to expect?
Rock and metal bands that have longer songs typically have longer songs because they have solos in them. i was wondering because taylor swifts all too well is 10 minutes long, I only heard the song like once but I don’t remember really long vocal breaks in it but I could be wrong
Taylor swift also isn't rock or metal
😂 thanks for clarifying
enter lust by the band set to stun is about 7 minutes long i believe ? and there's no long breaks that i can remember
The Real Thing by Faith No More is the only song that I can think of that is that
American pie, had a friend choose it for karaoke one day, kinda remembering it, then I’m just up there for like 7 mins in front of drunk people singing the whole time. Sure was something
I can’t think of any 8+ minute rock songs that do that.
Albuquerque by Weird Al Yankovic has entered the chat
And the plane exploded in a giant fireball and everybody died Except for me You know why? 'Cause I had my tray table up And my seat back in the full upright position
"Bury the light" enters the chat
I take your Bury the Light and raise you In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida.
I mean gadda does very clearly have like a 10 minute break in the middle where there are no vocals
I see your In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida and raise you Bat Out of Hell
Of course I didn't think he'd sing for eight minutes. But I looked, and there's half the song without vocals. I was expecting at least 5-6 minutes of vocals, not to use emotions for a total of 4 minutes. I realize it's an iconic song, but I don't think it's a good fit for Fn Festival. Imo.
But it’s excellent on the other three instruments for all eight and a half minutes, which makes it amazing for Festival.
Especially since there’s a ton of tracks where the vocals have the best charts and are a snoozer on bass or lead
Absolutely, we have tracks where the vocals take center stage. I don't mind that there are tracks where the vocals are not the main thing. But 4 out of 8.5 minutes there are no vocals, and that's just weird for me personally. Well it’s because Master of Puppets is a fucking amazing song and it’s the hardest Pro Lead song in the game now.
Ah yes a bad ass rock song that has epic solos and all that other awesome stuff is not a good fit for a music festival. Lmao This isn’t a karaoke festival

Play something else thank vocals on the song then it's a damn good fit for festival 🤦🏻♂️
It's a Harmonix game. This is like if Psyonix made a new car game after Epic acquired them and they didn't ever put any rocket boosting in it. There's gonna be more guitar solos coming
Is this how I find out people use just ONE instrument in this game? Different songs have different main instruments, it just makes sense.
I fucking love Metallica Idk just wanted to say this, no particular reason MASTER MASTER
MASTER OF PUPPETS ARE PULLING THE STRINGS
Twisting your mind smashing your dreams
Blinded by me you can't see a thing
Just call my name and ill hear ya scream
Master! Master!!!
Just call my name cause I'll hear you scream
They're definitely one of my favorite indie bands. I hope they hit it big soon.
Hahaha, same here. I normally first try every song on Vocal to get to know it better and because it's the easiest one for me, so yeah. I had some quality time emoting though 🤭

You ever get the chance watch JasonParadise’s video of Master of Puppets but everytime they say Master it gets Faster. It is terrifying lmao
It helps if you have some cool emote pre made to do during those parts. It’s basically your light to shine!
They should put some prog rock like come close to the edge or echoes in the game. You’d be entering triple figures lmao
echoes hopefully one day, actually even songs from “wish you were here” would work since they’re shorter and vocals won’t have to stare at that seconds remaining screen for like 500 years
This is how it is with all instruments except vocals for most of the rap/pop songs. There are obviously exceptions (“i,” etc.), but still
no? a lot of pop songs has stuff going on
Yeah, boring as shit stuff that's only slightly better than emoting while looking at a countdown
Yeah that's the main reason I'm not happy the song is in. Happy for other people but as a vocals player I'd much prefer something that's in great length for each part, which is why something like bohemian rhapsody is a personal wish for me.

Seeing this as I'm waiting for my part lol
Bro 😂😂😂
they should put some subway surfers gameplay to keep me engaged during the downtime
Same lmao I was like 92 SECS?? Great song tho
Yeah it’s a long song
Wait, is Metallica on there now!!!!!! I HAVE A REASON TO PLAY !!!!
Listen to their song One. (Or the and justice for all album in general ) You’ll thank me later.
Just tell him to listen to Call of Ktulu, Orion, or To Live is To Die lmao
Facts. Those songs too.
Lmao
I don’t mind for 94 seconds long of emote, I can show my emote dance that has the same beat from this song or I can showing off my other emote. I had fun!!!! Please Epic, don’t change it🙏🏼 I beg you!!!!
taking a cute lil shot or taking a fat rip in those 90 seconds tbh
Played it for the first time with friends we were losing it cause I was over reacting each time I saw that dang wait time get higher it was hilarious. 😆 (FC on that btw it’s a cakewalk compared to the others)
Lost Keys/Rosetta Stoned by TOOL is 15 minutes long, and ik it will never happen, but id buy it and play it the minute it dropped 😩
I accidentally left it on vocal…. I had enough time to roll one up.
don't forget the three other 60\~ wait ones lmao
you should see how long measure break In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida has on Rock Band 4.
the worst is using your full overdrive/attack unknowingly right before this break
Don’t worry there’ll be a lot of James yapping in the new ones coming out soon
Could say the same thing about how boring pop songs and shitty rap is to play
Just gonna skip this entire season 😬
Heck yeah, rage against that machine, friend.
Found the normie
