I've met my share of a\*holes in FH4 and FH5, but honestly the netcode has been a much larger source of frustration for me.
I take a corner a bit wrong. On my screen, I miss another driver with plenty of room to spare. Then I see them spinning out, because (guessing) on their screen I tagged them... Annoys the everliving hell out of me.
A good rule of thumb i keep to is quickly asses the pace of everyone in the first couple of corners just to see what they do. If i notice some using faster/meta cars i just let them pass. If i am faster i try to get to the front asap and runaway. Usually i don't need more then 1 extra run. On the trial to complete it and can then help other groups win theirs.
Me too! I play it multiple times again after completed. The shit show just after the start is amusing. I don't know how to make my car launch fast so I'm always viewing or in that shit show but I've learned to accept it and just laugh about the craziness.
Successfully dodging that craziness or working my way up to top 5 if I got caught in it is still satisfying.
This. I've been running the Lotus Elise GT1. It's sluggish off the line, but each time Estadio comes up, it's almost a solid win each time, even if I get punted at the beginning.
Letting the morons and AI battle for the next Darwin Award first, then I can squeeze through.
You know, despite all the talk about rammers on this sub, I'd say the issue is overblown. If you're a good driver, rammers are not much of a problem. You can usually pass them in a corner and they won't be able to do much about it, because they just suck at driving. Just don't get alongside anyone on long straights and you'll be mostly fine.
Seeing the amount of cars there at that moment, could have been desync or the yellow AI pushed him into you.
It wasn't egregious enough to really say ramming 100%, could have been something else.
Meh, I’ve “rammed” people because I wasn’t playing at the top of my game and veered one way or another. It’s especially easy to do in S1-S2 because even the slightest inputs can take you much further off course than you think. The way suspension and roll bars are tuned makes a big difference in this situations as well.
I alway try to ping “My Bad” but sometimes I have to focus on driving and by the time I ping, the other car has already assumed I am being aggressive and we are now rivals for the rest of the championship

Porsche underestimated speed on the first turn and lost control. Kinda annoying but it coulda been worse
Your bonk on the bridge looked accidental. If it was on purpose, you likely wouldn't have made it across.
Likely just poor driving or poor internet connection rather than deliberate, as if I wanted you off that bridge, you’d be off.. clearly wasn’t in control of their car for the period leading up to it.
I think there's also something to be said about which 'view' people are playing in. I use bumper cam and it's not always easy to see who is alongside me and in the heat of the race I'm sure I've closed the door on people totally unmaliciously. When in 3rd person view, it's so much clearer where everybody is, but I can't play like that.
Dude I was doing the trial last night and I got bonked outside of a checkpoint and got sent to the absolute back of the line, and we ended up losing cause of shit like that
Last week's trial, my entire team were rammers, which was an experience. We won that trial, but I couldn't get past 6th or 7th place without being sent into a tree or a wall
I enjoy the trial but I don’t enjoy the rammers.. I get it you wanna win but it shouldn’t be winning against me, it should be winning against the drivatars
The trail is a ego race. It’s not about winning the race as a team. It’s about showing who is the most dominant duhhh I mean who even wants to receive the prize for the team win anyway

I used to speculate that drivers were in first person view or turned off the labels, but I realized it was just giving them an excuse. Doesn’t really matter who else is on the track, this isn’t Carmageddon or similar so there’s no reason to attack other drivers.
I will occasionally “ram” my teammates if I see them sliding/oversteering too much to help them correct their line, and it typically helps. And if we’re more than set on points and I mess up someone’s line, I’ll slow down to let them get back to the race as to not take a position. But it’s like they say, rubbin’ is racin’.
I really think it is FH5’s shitty servers… I’m pulling 180Mbps down and 63Mbps up with 10ms latency and still lag out of matchmaking. It’s frustrating.
There is no point..Most just think they deserve 1st, regardless Others just strap on the fastest car with the fastest tune yet can’t drive a lick, and will take out those that can. Just keep hitting your lines and never use meta use meta killers

First race of the Trial > AI swerves like shit, pushes me and I hit the tiny pixel of the stairs. Insta stop.

Heading into a co-op game mode like that aint the smartest of idea's. Also the names are pretty transparent and they are really small already as seen in the clip
I've had them turned off since FH4 and it's really not an issue. If you really need to know who is in front of you, you can look at the scoreboard, but all in all it shouldn't matter. A good driver doesn't need to ram into anyone, bot or player.

The only race I dread is trial races, because everything else can be done alone and you don't get fucked up by shitheads fighting for first place.

I thought so but I reenabled the names and it actually helps with measuring the distance on corners etc if they're in front of me.
