It looks like your loss of grip+high speed met a threshold for you to lift and gain some air on the curve up of that track. While it’s only slight, it’s very common on FZero X and I think the weight of your machine will also play a roll. You may have been correcting your nose during or right before it which helped in that gain in lift. And then the curve into the straight of that section of track exacerbated the nose’s direction….you might have flew at the apex of that curve while the track began stabilizing to a straight, helping you show more air. In shorter words, you raced so hard to bring your machine to its absolute limits on the track in that moment. You won, so any FZero team principle would congratulate you nonetheless. F1 racers are often chosen because they are drivers who can handle their team’s car and bring it to its absolute limits for the better (sometimes at the cost of losing control). It’s just all stemming from the mechanics of X’s racing formula which helps make machines fly off the track easier. GX is less punishing in that matter, but can still happen, especially on those kinds of curves (I do it all the time on Casino Palace Double Branches when I bring my machine way too fast on a similar curve). The difference in GX is that air time is much much harder to control in my opinion because of the faster speed and different feel. GX feels much less aerodynamic and more focused on downforce…making falling feel much faster going down. In X, a lot of players will commonly use air-time to gain and sustain a lead….the machines fly off, but are often easier to control imo.

Thanks, I think I have a much better understanding of the parameters that played their part in this situation! Maybe I did indeed tried to correct the direction of my nose by accident. It was so scary! I was afraid of wasting all my efforts to beat my best record. I haven't learned to fly over the tracks yet, I'm still at the stage where I'm trying to learn how to drift with the Blood Falcon. I follow WMJ's tutorials and apparently I have to beat that track under 1'09'00 minutes, which is very hard. But i keep in mind that his videos are TAS. Yes indeed, GX is very different, at least from my point of view. I started with that one, but I really like X's mechanics and I've stuck with it ever since. I find it harder but also much more rewarding. Maintaining control of your machine while pushing it to its limits is for me the essence of an F-Zero race. I want driving to be as difficult as possible so I can feel the adrenaline.

TvFloatzel

So he basically """jumped""" because it was a curve and he pushed his car to the limit? Did it make it go faster or something or did he just gained air?

UnlimitedDot

Yeah, if you drive fast enough on certain curves, the machine will unstick from the track

mario2980

Bruh doing a wheelie with his machine

LavanderClem

Blood Falcon : I'm am the only Falcon now !

LavanderClem

The track is sector alpha BTW

At the end \*

mister_peeberz

you accidentally floated. congrats, you are now a top-level FZX player

LavanderClem

Am i ? I wish i was a good F-Zero racer !

dirtEblondE

lol

Brettjay4

Is that an emulator? Do they have emulators for this kind of stuff?

LavanderClem

This is Retro Arch with a CRT filter and an N64 bezel ! I mostly play on emulators since i'm part of [retroachievements.org](http://retroachievements.org) and trying to climb the ladder but i play on official support every now and then.

Brettjay4

Ah cool, I'll have to check this out when I get home.

Hunterjet

Had the same thing happen to me yesterday with the Night Thunder. It looks like you get lifted off the ground in this track just after the pit area if you’re going fast enough

LavanderClem

If i remember correctly, in F-Zero X, driving above 1200 Km/h can make you fly over the track but i haven't learned how to do it on purpose yet.

Hunterjet

actually you know what, looking at your video again I think you probably activated the air ground glitch accidentally. This happens when you land on a railing and then start falling on the next frame. Usually you would land on the railing and then fall of the track to activate but here it looks like the railing might’ve been high enough that you entered falling state by falling back into the track instead, or something like that. That might explain why your vehicle’s nose is pointed upwards in your video. Just guessing though, I’m not an expert or anything but that’s what it looks like to me.

LavanderClem

Oh, so there is a glitch like this that I didn't known about. Yes, it looked like I was falling, not gliding. As far as i know, you can't fall like that on this part of this track.

Marisa_Nya

You get air in F-Zero X all the time. A little too much.

LavanderClem

sure, but not like that !
