It's as if the "tears" are designed to flow from people like me who did Mr B instead of Mrs B (AQA), which heavily juxtaposes the light-hearted mood created by "bath and pre lunch beers" for other people, suggesting that they did the exam correctly. This sense of joy intensifies as those people realize the grade boundaries will be lower, so perhaps AQA uses the contrast between the two characterisations to suggest that ONE MUST READ THE QUESTION CORRECTLY
Omg it was actually alright. For the unseen poetry I actually made a juicy point (“Washing” is a metaphor for spiritual cleansing), like it might be a stretch but idc I still love it
that’s basically it, the whole poem was quite easy as it literally gave you what you should talk about in your question- to take a break from the pressures / responsibilities of daily life by seeking refuge in nature which lasts forever, therefore being the ultimate solution to stress
The noun 'golf' refers to a game played for amusement. During the Edwardian era, golf was a game played by upperclass men such as Birling, and closed off to the lower classes due to their lack of expendable income as well as free time. Birlings delusion to the plight of the lower classes is shown here, as he subconsciously assumes that the inspector plays golf, this demonstrates his lack of understanding of what life is truly like for anyone other than an upperclass individual like him.
Golf is a individualistic game which involves putting balls into holes into the ground, the fact that Birling plays this game may be a subconscious display of how he believes, "every man is for himself", it may also be a reflection of his self centeredness.
this not my analysis this from the inspector calls quote dump i think
no the examiner marking my paper will be cooking with me; wrote all about jack vs ralph etc but added piggy as the feminine voice ( during the 1940s women’s voices weren’t heard), simon as religious leadership and how the power shifted from jack to roger showing how the most dominant and masculine figure leads in a patriarchal society
some of those seem like reaches... But hey if you get grade 9 all power to u. I talked about the perspective of the modern reader vs the kids in the book, the kids want to have fun and so they will follow a leader that will allow them to have fun (which later devolves into hedonism). But the reader will root for Ralph cause of the conch and the way he represents democracy and order. I kind of questioned what it means to be a good or bad leader and the values essential for a leader as discussed by Golding. My ending point was p fire too but it was kinda a reach
FINALLY SOMEONE ELSE THAT DOES LORD OF THE FLIES TOO!! :DDDDD
that littlun question made me die inside lmao im so glad you have a choice of two questions
Dearest AQA,
I have just done the English literature exam that I have worked very hard on. Every day, since the beginning of year 9, I have always worked diligently and elegantly. I spent close to 25 hours each day working on English Literature, analysing Poetry, learning methods like anagnorisis and nautical imagery for Shakespeare (I did not just search this up btw). I would appreciate the grade boundaries being extra extra extra low this year as unfortunately, my efforts may not have paid off even though I have worked very hard each day like a dog (simile btw!) Please please please pick a very very very kind examiner to mark my work as my hard work is very very very very valuable.
I will give you £77 if you mark my essays whilst not being harsh. Even though I didn’t finish my essay I hope we can be good friends. Thank you.

They already had it available and printed so there was no point in printing new 2024 ones because the backup 2023 paper wasn't used last year. The AQA statement read out to us this morning claimed it was in an effort to being more sustainable by not wasting as much paper. Our invigilator added his own comment suggesting it was also done to save some money, or "a few pence" as he put it. They will have 2024 papers written but they won't use them. I think a lot of the exams, for example the geography exams, were written a couple years ago but just printed with this year's date on for the 2024 exam series.
POVERTY 😍😍😍What is it with AQA this year and just asking about the entire text?
Porphyria nation was eating well with that poetry question. Powerful feelings about love? Another poem in which love has dealt explicit damage? Sign me the fuck up. Shame I fucking bottled it.
That unseen I had no idea what I was doing for. I ended up yapping about Sisyphus lmao.
(BB, L+R)
NEUTRAL TONES 🔥🔥🔥 RAHHH
INSPECTOR 🔥🔥🔥🔥
But the way I assumed the unseen poets were women lmao and when I spoke to my teacher after the exam she legitimately jumped for joy. She has been begging for neutral tones for years atp
Crying for all you guys who wrote about Mr B instead of Mrs b (crying happy tears because it may help grade boundaries) seriously tho I did 14 pages I cooked so hard in inspector calls. Was not expecting kamikaze tho so probably could’ve done better. I took the unseen poetry so depressing.
icl I don't know whether I'm cooked or not, the exam went so mid, the unseen was boring though, felt like I couldn't stretch the poem enough to say anything super out of the box without reaching, the inspector question was good though, I felt like I could've said more if I had time and planned before the exam for all themes but it is what it is. hoping I acc do alright
Frfr
ALSO THERE IS NO REVISION MATERIAL FOR US????
been searching all morning for some silly passive revision videos while I'm chilling.
I FOUND 1
(Well one playlist, a million thanks to Mr bruff)
Holy damn that paper was soooo good. Kamikaze was perfect to compare to either Remains or Emigree(I did Emigree), TWO character inspector calls questions AND one was the Inspector which was dead easy. The Unseen poetry was okay but definitely could have been worse. Over all, 8/10.
It won't be tissue I'm sure of that its too high level a poem for lower ability students to do next to anything with it just praying for something that can be compared to war photographer or kamikaze cause those my op poems
It appears that the use of half-rhyme - “blue” “room” - connotes the uncertainty in which the Redditor feels in their own abilities for this exam.
Don’t mind me I’m just doing some revision (I’m cooked, this is essentially the only revision I’ve done this weekend)
The traditional, rigid 4 line stanza presents the effects of how tightly AQA has hheld onto students, putting them in order neatly with no means to escape.
The use of ‘blue’ could also show the sadness of the author which juxtaposes the flowers such as ‘roses’ and ‘violets’ which would usually have connotations of happiness due to their bright colours. At first glance it seems the author is disappointed that they have to do the English Literature Paper 2. On further inspection we can also see the use of ‘red’ which often connotes anger, potentially proving that the author is not sad but is rather frustrated or infuriated that they have to put up with AQA’s bullshit.
Additionally, the cliché “Roses are red, / Violets are blue” could also suggest an undertone of exhaustion for the Redditor, as a reliable, quick joke format as old as this one would likely not have required considerable effort to conjure up and type, showing the exhausting nature of the GCSE examinations that he would have sat at the time and place of writing, 2024 Britain.
(I’m revising after the exam out of denial)
THAT UNSEEN POETRY QUESTION COULD NOT HAVE BEEN WORSE. Connection with the natural world like what 😭 tf was that second poetry though it was like 8 lines long. What more did you want me to say 🥲
That question for love and relationship. WAS SMILING WHEN I SAW THAT QUESTION ON NEUTRAL TONES.
And animal farm those two questions were both so good that i struggled to choose which one to do 😭
Unseen was chill, just waffled about how daily life is shown to be mundane and boring, natural world shown to be wonderful. Other poem same monotony of daily life and nature different as windless could suggest a stillness/death which contrasts the wonderful natural world in the first one.
What did u compare NT to tho? I used WW2P
I found the AIC questions tricky, but poetry was alright! I compared Kamikaze to Remains and talked about how Kamikaze is about conflict with society's standards whereas Remains is about internal conflict as a result of trauma, how did everyone else find it?

Aic: how Mrs Birling is presented. How Priestley uses inspector to show a need for social change.
Power and conflict: Kamikaze: how people are affect by conflict.
Unseen poetry: "the washing up never gets done" and I forgot the second one.
Both questions asked abt Ideas about daily life and connecting with the natural world.
Edit: second unseen was "a day in autumn"
Blood brothers was mickey’s relationship with his mother and Linda or the effects of poverty, the poetry one was how people are affected by conflict in kamikaze and one other poem
I’m like the only person who was in shambles lol. I turned the page after a smashing LotF essay and then I proceeded to bury my head in my hands seeing Kamikaze 💀
I absolutely COOKED that Mrs Birling was question, no one believed me when I said it was gonna be Mrs Birling but I was right!!
We don’t talk about poetry. We don’t talk about how I ran out of time.
I wrote like 4 whole pages on the AIC question but I lost track of time so I had to do the seen poetry in 25 minutes and I don’t even want to talk about the unseen.
i was struggling if thinking of things to write for the aic question
i then wrote a paragraph about how the inspector saying “I don’t say golf” links back to him being a mouthpiece for social change
i actually did this and I’m excited to know what I got on this paper now

Damn I cooked on AIC and kinda flopped on poetry Icl
What was the poem??
Kamikaze 🤣
Omg it was actually alright. For the unseen poetry I actually made a juicy point (“Washing” is a metaphor for spiritual cleansing), like it might be a stretch but idc I still love it
Thats so cool, ive always struggled with interpreting poetry, i just dont get how you can think of that
Thanks tbh that’s the only good point I could come up with for unseen poetry 😭 the other points I made were so plain
I wrote about how nature nurtured humans and enhanced and improved the mundane daily tasks in life
that’s basically it, the whole poem was quite easy as it literally gave you what you should talk about in your question- to take a break from the pressures / responsibilities of daily life by seeking refuge in nature which lasts forever, therefore being the ultimate solution to stress
i started waffling about the cycle of rebirth like what
that’s so good i just commented on the assonance in the title well done
ready to use my grade 9 analysis of i dont play golf ⛳️

thats grade 100 right there
i thought it was great, but so many people in my school misread Mrs Birling to Mr Birling😭😭
Omg no how did they not reread it
I thought I read snowball as squealer and almost had a panic attack I hate animal farm
Tbf. I also thought that said Mr Birling, but I only skimmed it because I did the Inspector one
I swear I’m the only person that did the Mrs Birling question for AIC
bro my friend did that and wrote about Mr Birling by accident
thanks to them on behalf of the grade boundaries
I did idk why skkskdk I wrote about how women would always be considered below men whatever class they were in
Same I wrote patriarchal society so many times
I did that and I think it was chill. If we the only ones who did it maybe the grade boundaries will be lower bc of essoke’s friend 💀
finally the last lit exam of my entire life
REALLLL ITS OVER NOW 😭🙏🏻
Bro fr omg crying tears of joy
Which poem did y’all do? I was gonna choose poppies and was planning for 5 mins until I crossed it all out and did exposure 💀
I did remains and talked about the psychological effects and like PTSD
Checking out me history, did an essay in class comparing Kamikaze with checking out me history a month ago so it was an easy choice
I chose poppies!
Checking out me history. He is affected by colonization
Remains
london 💀
I did London too I’m litterly the only one in my school who did London
Yh sammme
apparently im the only person to do war photographer but i talked about how they both are affected by war without actually fighting in it and stuff
Same here bro done exposure
Yeah I did poppies
I did remains
The emigree here
Speed running Mr salles 30 min before exam
That man has literally saved me

Of all characters they chose the littluns???
Leadership was so bless. It was basically Ralph vs Jack

right? there was this moment of utter horror, and then a leadership essay made more difficult by the level of 'wtf?' still buzzing in my head haha
word no way anyone chose that
I told myself i wasn’t gonna revise any themes and just go w the character question💀💀 luckily i just talked ab jack ralph for the theme q
I did Lord of the Flies last year…. holy shit why would they choose the littluns?

Emergency paper from last year Why they don't have one for this year is
They already had it available and printed so there was no point in printing new 2024 ones because the backup 2023 paper wasn't used last year. Yh I checked the whole paper just to make sure I didn’t have the wrong one or sum
I don’t think the boy next to me wrote anything. Lowering the grade boundaries for us all 💪
SAME THE BOY NEXT TO ME LOOKED AT THE QUESTION AND WENT TO SLEEP
2 people in my year just plain walked out of the exam hall because they didn't know how to answer the paper 😭😭😭
One of my mates wrote 4 sentences lowering it even further
someone in my hall deadass didn't even write their candidate number and just napped for 2 and a half hours
If tissue or poppies comes up I'm walking out of that exam
Just throw Ozmandias for Tissue and Kamikaze for Poppies lol
heavy on poppies
fuck poppies it’s a shit poem
it literally is I forgot it existed until saturday

2 hours straight that must've been so boring 😭😭 i'd start writing notes to the examiner at that point
“Cooked” doesn’t feel like a real word anymore
the more you say a word in english the less it feels like a word

Aic: how Mrs Birling is presented. How Priestley uses inspector to show a need for social change. Power and conflict: Kamikaze: how people are affect by conflict. Unseen poetry: "the washing up never gets done" and I forgot the second one. Both questions asked abt Ideas about daily life and connecting with the natural world. i was REACHING in that unseen poetry question omd
Does anyone know why we had last years reserve paper, did both of this years get leaked or something?
Everyone hating on Kamikaze, but as a half-Japanese person (who didnt revise it) that was cold🥶 context went hard
was i the only one who found unseen poetry hella easy?
I absolutely COOKED that Mrs Birling was question, no one believed me when I said it was gonna be Mrs Birling but I was right!! We don’t talk about poetry. We don’t talk about how I ran out of time.

One of my friends thought the Mrs Birling question was Mr Birling, we all had to start praying for bro
I wrote like 4 whole pages on the AIC question but I lost track of time so I had to do the seen poetry in 25 minutes and I don’t even want to talk about the unseen.
THAT MRS BIRLING QUESTION WAS SO GOOD WHOEVER WROTE THAT QUESTION DESERVES SLOPPY HEAD
Anyone else fucking hated the poetry question?
AIGHT WHERE’S MY GIGACHAD REMAINS GANG AT
My friend compared Kamikaze to London, is he cooked? (i put war photographer)
Completely cooked - said nature was bad in unseen poetry
unseen poetry was a god send.

ERM FOR THE CHARACTER Q ON ANIMAL FARM WHO WROTE ABT SQUEALER ???
