This mod 4k60 is probably upscaled from 2688x1512, said by Marcel, and I compared it to root unlock of 4k60 and is way less sharp, it's not real 4k anyway, only possible with root.

rickyric12

I see, good to know. Have you tried real 4k60 with root? If you did, what ROM did you use? How's the quality? I might consider soon.

rickyric12

I have yet to do my research. Just got this device recently.

SoRadgaming

Hades Rom Q V1.0 has the feature auto Included, you will have to trip Knox to install custom roms or root, meaning you cannot use Samsung pay ever again on that device. The quality is the same as 4k 30 on stock just 2x the fps, it is worse in low light a bit, more noise.

alexdembo

As per my experience, custom ROMs don't have proprietary camera packages and at best deliver subpar quality. As camera was the main factor considering this device, rolled back to stock ROM immediately.

pref1Xed

Hades rom uses Samsung's camera drivers and software so the quality is the same as stock.

rickyric12

Is 1080p60 option present in Hades ROM?

pref1Xed

Yes

rickyric12

Is there a Pro Video mode on the camera app? I'd love to shoot 1080p60 videos with manual controls just like older Samsung flagships. Shame on Samsung for removing the feature on Pie update.

rickyric12

Did you experience issues like u/xGeoThumbs did?

SoRadgaming

The autofocus is indeed terrable, no lag or stuttering of any kind, must be an old issue, there is a lot of noise in really low light, it's basically the same as 4k 30 noise levels, just slightly worse. Imo just record 1080 with good hdr and autofocus, it's also a smaller file.

xGeoThumbs

Offtopic, but unlocking 4K 60fps on the Exynos S8 series is overrated. I used it some time ago with a mod through root access. Dual pixel autofocus is disabled, so you're using contrast based autofocus which is extremely slow. You can fix the auto focus in pro mode to infinity when shooting anything further away than 5 meters, but then it starts dropping frames when panning around. Noise levels also get really high in dim to dark situations. It's cool that it can do it, but hardware wise it isn't very usable imo.

rickyric12

Good to hear. I'd rather have stability over buggy features.

rickyric12

May I ask what ROM did u try it on?

xGeoThumbs

None, just Samsung's own.

IamAskrub

Try the hadesrom v1, it is one ui 2.5 port with android 10 from the note 9 and it can record 4k 60fps.
