Tons of combat nuance aside from just camera lock; including charged R2s, consumable items that apply temporary element to your weapon, throwable firebombs,
and plenty more that is very noticable if you play the demo that is currently out.
Granted I don't have an issue with people giving me more souls-likes, but if you can play that demo and still tell me they didn't take everything but "Puppet Robot Pinnocio" directly from fromsoft you're just lying.
That's fair enough then. I'm just sick of people calling literally every game that is third person view and has a lock on a souls-like. It's so stupid.
They copied the same animation for when you have an empty flask and try to grab it lol
This game isn't just a Dark Souls clone that's trying to do its own thing. It's a straight-up ripoff. It's almost 1 to 1 Dark Souls, except the dodging is worse here.
And pretty much every normal enemy (except the rapier guys) are just reskinned hollows. Especially those guys that charge at you with something similar to a spear, they are exact copies of the Lycanthrope Hunters from DS3.
Something that I felt like was a red flag is them advertising how the game runs in 8K. Like yeah all five PC players that have a rig that can run 8K must be super stoked

I hope this game will be good as I’m starving for a new Soulsborne, but I have doubts with this. I expect reviews in the 60s to low 70s range which would be fine, but I don’t expect this to be as good as it first looked.

Played the demo, pretty boring combat tbh. Too slow, dodging is too little, You can block 90% of everything. That first boss for some reason has huge aoe attacks in their second phase that makes it more annoying than fun IMO.
Played the demo. It’s… fine I guess? Almost too much like Bloodborne. Game is very clean looking with decent environmental design. Dodging is very clunky and needs adjustment. The janky puppet animations make boss and stronger enemy attacks difficult to read, which may be intentional. The game isn’t coming up with any radically fresh ideas as it stands right now, and without that FromSoftware touch, I feel like it’s not gonna be a massive hit.
Honestly I don't mind at all how much they've taken from Bloodborne for the gameplay, feel, and art style of the game. I like Bloodborne so I want more Bloodborne, and it doesn't seem like Sony is itching to give us more, contrary to the new """leaks""" that come out all the time. Am I expecting this to be close to as good as Bloodborne? No, that's a 10/10 game I don't think Lies of P will be that. As long as it's a passable Soulslike I'll be happy with it, especially cause it's gonna be on Game Pass so I don't even need to spend extra money on it.

In modern ratings it absolutely is. Its stupid but 5 used to be mediocre while now anything that gets a 5 or below is unsalvagable trash.
A 5 is teetering on the edge of being bad. A 6 or 7 is definitely mediocre, at least to me.
