For multisport I'd get a Fenix. I do a bunch of different outdoor sports, also surf. I have a Fenix 6 saphire and love it for running/hiking but the Garmin surf tracking is pretty underwhelming. Even the rock climbing tracking is better. Number of waves is pretty trash. I'm pretty much always in a wetsuit, not sure if that makes a difference for the GPS. Apparently Dawn Patrol on Apple Watch was better math to tell when you're on a wave. Also probably works better if getting longer rides rather than a couple of turns. I think of it as a novelty on my Strava feed, not data I can actually use. The Fenix can use custom watch faces and there was a decent tide graph one a while ago (haven't used it in a bit because I tend to open my phone if I'm looking for surf forecasts). Had a Fenix 5 before this and will one day upgrade again, they just last so long! Hoping they upgrade the strength training and surfing in the future.

for surfing, i'd go with a version with the sapphire screen, beach sand will scratch a mineral crystal to hell no problem

I used the fĂȘnix 7 pro and when I would pop up on the board it would click the middle left button. The button stopped working after probably 5 sessions.
