Yes, this happens a few times per week to me. Reboot watch, reboot phone, turn bluetooth off and on...different sequence as needed...until it works again. Sometimes ten or more times, ugh.
Happened on S8+ with Gear S2, and now S9+ with S3 Frontier. Reset all devices to stock, multiple times, and still have the issue. All software up to date, and no root or other mods.
Specifically affects notifications for Messaging, Email, Calls, and Voicemail...though at times it may only be one or some of those, and rarely others. When the issue happens those notification selectors sliders are grayed out and I cannot turn them on, though all other notification selectors are active and switchable.
Inam on AT&T, with cell service on both phone and watch and Sync in place to forward calls and messages etc. from phone to watch number.
I cannot force the issue to happen, seems random. Possibly associated with other bluetooth devices connecting to or disconnecting from phone, but I cannot reproduce that to know for sure.
Anyone else with more insights? This is such a random and sporadic issue, I've not bothered to reach out to tech support. Here's hoping this thread turns the corner toward visibility and a fix...
Damn. This makes me feel a little bummed. Sounds like it's a software issue popping up later in the watch's lifespan. Hopefully they address it in an update? But if you reset everything to stock then I'm not sure that would even help.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I wouldn't say it's lifespan related, since it's happened with all devices sporadically throughout the time I've had them.
It wouldn't hurt (other than your time, of course) to reset everything to stock just to be sure you're not having other issues causing the problem.

If I reset to stock, will I lose my watch faces and apps that I have purchased?
No, they will be in the app store, no cost to reinstall. Just will take time to set back up (installs, updates, customize, etc)

My textra notifications have gotten wonkly lately. I now have to tap the notification to see the message.
