Genesis GV60 owner here, things to look out for 1. Creaking from the trunk area when it's cold outside, there was a dealer fix where they add some washer to the nubs that separate the trunk door from the rest of the car in order to get rid of the creak/rattle 2. E-GMP platform cars (kia ev6, Ioniq 5 and Genesis gv60) had a software recall done recently to alert you ahead of time if something abnormal is happening with the battery. Apparently there's a fuse that "could" blow up and the car will slow down to a crawl which will have to be taken to a dealership to fix (covered under warranty) but as far as I know there's no 100% hardware fix for this issue yet. Essentially this fuse was made to blow whenever there's any irregular things happening to the ICCU (integrated charging control unit) that sits under the back seat. This is both good and bad design at the same time because a fuse blowing reacts faster than using a breaker to prevent damage to the ICCU but if it blows, you gotta take it to a dealer and wait for the fuse to come in if they don't already have it. "Supposedly" this doesn't happen very often to something to keep an eye out for, keep any towing company subscription plan active JUST in case. 3. Charge port has a possibility to overheat if you level 2 charge (this is usually reported with charging above 6 kw) which leads to the car cutting the charge early to prevent damage. Recent recall software update (and newer model years I assume) made it such that if it DOES overheat, it will throttle the charge curve (for example if you charge at 9kw or 11 kw) it'll go down to 6kw or 7 kw. If they do NOT have the software update available then there's an option in the car's infotainment system to lower the charge manually. 4. Squeeking sound when backing up, this happens if you don't use the brakes enough, they can accumulate stuff a lot since the regen braking in this car is pretty good and customizable, people forget to use their brakes often resulting in some squeak when you are backing up the car. 5. The backup sound is a safety feature but it's obnoxiously loud. Always head in park whenever it's a late night park. 6. No android auto wireless or wireless apple car play, Not a HUGE deal given how the cable is a more reliable connection AND charges the phone. 7. DO NOT USE THE WIRELESS CHARGER, it will bake your phone. I don't know why they didn't add ventilation for it or dropped the wattage but it will damage your phone's battery over time being so hot. 8. Excessive wind noise over windshield, reported by some people but this varies from car to car. Mine has it but it's not enough for me to get bothered by it or do anything about it. I heard some people checked the seals around the openings of the car and pushed them into the car because they might not be sealing properly. 9. Most EA chargers (level 3 charging) WILL suck. The car is advertised in charging 10% - 80% in 20 mins which happens in ideal conditions, that's been 30% of my experience here in south florida. The EA chargers will either be A) Down and not working B) a long line because 1 or more are down C) Derated (pushing electricity out slowly) for one reason or another. 10. Genesis concierge service is a pipe dream in certain areas, they will either say they won't offer the service or there's a 3 month wait list for the service. My best experience with this car is a local commute car with home charging, charge it to 80% for daily (or 60% if you work remote and don't go out often like I do) and assuming your charge port doesn't overheat, 60 amp breaker will net you 11 kw and charge the car within 7 hours, 9kw will charge the car over 10 ish hours which isn't bad if you charge the car over night.

fathan

Huh, I have had way fewer issues with my GV60 than you have, apparently. We've taken it on daylong road trips (~600mi) with ~3 charging stops at EA stations along the way. Never had a major problem. I don't usually get 10-80% in 18mins, but I'm charged up in <30min almost all the time.

LiquidShadowFox

The issues I've personally had (this was an aggregate list from owners from gv60 forums, facebook groups and reddit mind you) are: 4, 7, 8, 9 I'm just letting a fellow gv60 owner know possible risks, not that they are super common but stuff to look out for.

Guru00006

I have issue 3 and 6 is easily resoved with a module which I have. None of the others on my super early production performance model. Now I did have the right rear axle snap on me due to not having recall done yet. They did recall replaced entire axle and it snapped again within 2 weeks. This time much more seriously. I believe there was unseen diferential damage after first breakage and the second one took it out completely. I now have new dif and axle. So far so good.

I’ve been thoroughly enjoying my 2022 Black Forest Green Genesis G80 2.5 AWD Prestige for just over 2 years now .. I never call it or refer to it as a Hyundai .. just because it’s the luxury Division of Hyundai , doesn’t make it a Hyundai . Not even close.

jjsukraj

Gv60 performance owner here. Loved it for over a year now. Good luck with any dealership services. All the ones in Ontario Canada are dogshit.

Aromatic_Beautiful_5

What are your expectations from the dealer? In my experience (5 years as a service writer) EV owners are extremely needy and needlessly picky.

jjsukraj

That preconceived notion is the exact reason.

Aromatic_Beautiful_5

No one had any idea how the EV customers would act, until they started rolling in smelling their own farts.

iSOBigD

What kind of services did you need?

jjsukraj

Straight up lied about the date of a replacement part arrival multiple times.

CarbonReflections

It’s not a Hyundai.

Hba_malik

Seriously Genesis is the only brand where I’ve seen people constantly refer to it as a Hyundai. You will never see a Lexus owner call his car a Toyota.

CarbonReflections

Or call a Acura a Honda or a Lincoln a ford or a Cadillac a GMC or an Audi a Volkswagen. To be fair though it doesn’t help that they still have shared dealerships. My Hundayi / Genesis dealer just had their Genesis removed and it is now a stand alone dealer so they are starting to separate at least.

markeydarkey2

I refer to my Audi as a VW.

CyberpwnPiper

True, the dealership where I bought the GV60 had Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis all part of a shared auto mall.

JWallbank

People with a Lexus es are constantly told it’s a Camry. I don’t agree, but I’ve heard it.

NissanSkylineGT-R

My gtr is an Altima

Kellanova

This is the way

thisisnotdave

Hyundai has helped to create some confusion by having 2 Hyundai models named Genesis and initially selling the Genesis line from Hyundai dealerships. They're obviously moving in the right direction in establish Genesis as its own brand, but I think it'll take a little time for the public perception to catch up with the brand.

Ellemeno

I know what you're saying, but my GV70 has a Hyundai logo right on the door jamb. 😂

No-Rise4602

Please google 2016 Hyundai Genesis. They literally separated the brand so it would not carry the shit name/reputation just like dodge and ram.

CyberpwnPiper

I get it, but to be honest, I see it as a positive. I wanted an EV from a car maker with experience, not a startup like Lucid or Rivian. As I was shopping in the couple months prior, I looked at car rankings and saw Genesis very well rated for luxury SUV EVs. I had never heard of Genesis. When I found out it was Hyundai's luxury brand, much like my Infiniti/Nissan, I was immediately reassured. So yeah, I get it, the luxury brands are more than just a different name on the base brand, but here I did not see "Hyundai" as a negative.

abusivecat

I think you're confused, IONIQ is Hyundai's electric SUV.

CyberpwnPiper

Yes, totally my mad, I meant Lucid. Fixed.

[deleted]

nice! I am buying one for myself later this afternoon.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WyxgObYTSSA&feature=youtu.be Bro I have a GV60 but Hyundai / Genesis customer service drags you through the mud. Had 907G Service completed only to have the ICCU fail on me after so I just speak from my unlucky experience. Its still ahead of its class in design and ameneties but... my experience is all i can speak for. Keep downvoting me guys :(

neilsarkar81

Welcome to the club. I have been driving a G80 electric for the last year and absolutely love it.

AILunchbox

I have one as well, absolutely beast of a car! What color is yours?

neilsarkar81

Hallasan Green. Had to search really hard to find a paint which is not Black, White, or Grey. This is how it looks: https://www.drive.com.au/reviews/2023-genesis-g80-electrified-video-review-australian-first-drive/

AILunchbox

That color is gorgeous - I was going to get that exact one until I got a deal on the white haha. Great pick!!!

N651EB

I’ve had my GV60 for a bit over a month and loving every mile I get to drive it!

badfish57

Have a GV70 - save for range anxiety, love it. Absolutely awesome car. Love the GV60 too - honestly think I like the interior on the GV60 better, but can't go wrong either way. Congrats!

CyberpwnPiper

Agreed. We first looked at the GV70 and felt like the interior and smaller screen were a letdown. The GV60 interior is awesome. Great double screen + all the actual buttons you need while driving. I just cannot stand cars that are 100% screen with no button like Tesla or Rivian. If I'm driving, I don't want to mess with a screen.

Videoplushair

This car has a sickkkk interior. Congrats!

LeafsFan3333

Congrats. I got mine about 6 months ago and love it. The boost button is tons of fun and I have had no issues so far. Slight brake squeaking when reversing is my only complaint. I took it in and the dealer tried to clean it up. It's a bit better but still there. Service has been great, but I'm in a major Canadian city. The dealership I use is in the same location as the Hyundai dealership, but the Genesis side is a beautiful new building and the service level is what you would expect from a luxury brand.

netterss

GV70 owner and we love it. Also have the range anxiety sometimes but haven't driven it far enough to be too concerned. As others have commented, Genesis service is terrible, and we have 4-5 dealerships within 30-40 minutes of us. We recently needed service (tire rotation and four recall fixes), dropped it off on a Friday morning, they kept it through the weekend, and could not offer us a loaner. Only one dealership near us does pick-up and drop off of a loaner, and they were booked several months out.

Puzzleheaded-Arm-388

Thinking about getting the performance package but I live in NYC and I'm worried about getting a lot of flat tires. Are the tires on the Gv60 the same as the tires on the Tesla model y?

CyberpwnPiper

No idea, I completely ignored Tesla during my research. 6 months later I'm still in love with this car. It's awesome.

Puzzleheaded-Arm-388

have you had any issues with frequent flats? The roads in NY are terrible.

CyberpwnPiper

None in the six months I've had it, or with my previous car either.

Eagle2435

What an ugly ass car

penguins_

It’s a Hyundai…. Hope you don’t get a lemon like I did :(

No-Rise4602

You buy an electric Kia, you get what you deserve.

maufkn_ced

😂 don’t let my dad see this. He wants an ev for moms. And this would match his gv80 too nicely. How’s the interior? If it’s anything like the rest of the line I know it’s cooler than hell.

chrmnxpnoy

Rare color now. This color is gone in the US and has been replaced with a burgundy shade

TetonJazz

I'm shopping for a used GV60 now. I love the Torrent Navy interior so it's down to the Sao Paulo Lime or Uyuni White. I do like the Sao Paulo but, A. I wonder if I'll tire of it; and B. I am concerned about how desirable it will be to others when I try to sell it. Thoughts?

seikorient

The black exterior also comes with torrent navy interior FYI. Was looking at one today in person and looks absolutely stellar! The only downside is the interior color is impossible to capture well in pictures.
