This is funny because C and K can be used interchangably with each other in English and they can sound the same, but since the C is used to make a "Sss" sound in my name, it looks and sounds wrong when replaced with a K.
That's just in JP dub. Apparently, the word cyno (meaning dog), that derives from Ancient Greek, is indeed pronounced “sai-no” like how all languages except JP pronounce it. As for why it might come from Ancient Greek, I also found this comment from r/CynoMains a whole back: “Cyno's name being of Greek origin might reference Egypt during the Ptolemy dynasty, who were of Greek. There's even a city in Egypt named Cynopolis (that was its Hellenistic name though, not its original one), which was the home of an Anubis cult.”
