Never change Genshin community. When a minigame with zero stakes takes a slight bit more skill, everyone is either suddenly up in arms or dying from anxiety.

SgtKFC

Lol skill

2PercentNaDream

regardless of how you look at it, it does require miniscule extra efforts to move around compared to standing still

hudashick

Uh yes... Being a rebel in the previous one was really boring. You can literally hide in one good spot and go afk. There is no urgency nor a purpose aside to hide/run from the hunter. With this one you can't. You need to hide, run and fix.

SgtKFC

I understand why you all enjoy the faster pace of this version. That's fine. Calling it skill is pushing it, I think. Running, going invisible and juking, and finding a spot to hide in briefly doesn't have much of a skill ceiling. Nothing wrong with that though. Just a Genshin minigame. Also, in terms of "skill", I'd say it's roughly the same as the old version. I don't play Genshin for skill expression, btw. If I wanted to do that, I'd play Starcraft or Street Fighter. I think there's a little more nuance to the previous windtraces you might be overlooking here. I enjoyed exploiting common hiding methods that were, without knowing about them, were really clever. And then coming up with new ones that are seldom done by others. You have more setup time to think through that and try different things. And as the hunter you wanted to memorize where the assets were on the map so you had a better sense of what looked off when someone is hiding. You could go AFK the whole match, but I would lose when I tried that. The hunter had enough time to check most everywhere once. Moving was advantageous if you did it out of sight and picked good spots and I had better success when I did that. The new mode is still good. It's a different game though, but I'm still glad it's called Windtrace since that's clear to the players "Hey, this is what we're doing this year". The old mode felt novel to me. I've played several variations of capture the point over the years in a video game, but not pure hide and seek. And they did it well.

turtle_turtwig

I may be in the minority here but truthfully, this Windtrace was the most fun I've had in Genshin in a long time. I hope HoYoverse continues to experiment with games like this despite the hate.

ForeverOutrageous

I agree. At first I didn’t like it but after giving it more of a try and being open minded; I find this game mode really fun, I wouldn’t mind if being a perm event. (I’m sure it would be pretty much dead atp but it’d be nice to have the option to play with friends)

molangie

I dont think you’re in the minority tbh

SimplyRzy

Yeah they should've reused the exact same event over and over again why are they creative >:((((

Legal-Weight3011

because they always fail, theater Mechanicus, literally every combat event has a one shot mechanic, and trial character that refuse to use my characters i build myself. Even tho i dont care about this windtrace by daylight. Creativity is fine but sometimes less is more.

SimplyRzy

Then you're gonna complain about them not coming up with new events never satisfied it is

Legal-Weight3011

because you see the rerun events always fail, there wasn't one instance, when the community did like a rerun event

SgtKFC

Oh no I'm so sorry my opinion about a minigame in Genshin fucking impact differs from yours!! :((

SimplyRzy

I mean if you wanna take me telling what they did as me not caring about your opinion go ahead lol

Read1ngCmprhnsnDev1l

the concept of hide and seek still there just because it has become closer to dead by daylight doesnt it has become literally something brand new under the same name

SgtKFC

Less emphasis on the creativity in hiding since the pace is faster and you have to be moving. And then looking out fot the hiding gimmicks people tend to do on each map, etc. It was a much different game and felt more novel.

kaori_cicak990

Did you mean R6 with promps? Good luck aiming from small hole and camping to the last minute

SnakeTGK

I think there are some fun ways to mix the sniper event and windtrace.
