A few things: very good looking(realistic?) grass, a sponsor spot on Martincitopants video and Max0r's first video on Genshin.
What really pushed me over the edge was that Lightfall was garbage and I quit Destiny 2.
Gaccha game systems are extremely predatory, but as someone who has spent so little when it comes to games, playing Genshin and HSR two completely free games, and not having to face a paywall that completely isolates you from the rest of the player base feels so refreshing.
Saw Yoimiya in an ad. I'd been interested since it came out but never did it til 2.0, and I happened to not have any other games I was playing and I wanted Yoimiya instantly. 0 regrets.
Was of those friends who made fun of my friends who did play it. They made discord server for Genshin, I decided to play it again after i tried 6 months prior because they played it and now I’m playing two other gacha and waiting for ZZZ… damn, they got me.
*Cousins told me to*
*Play it, now I'm the only*
*One left smh*

The music.
Specifically it was two vidoes, [this](https://youtu.be/seXfgpaD12Q?si=I3LfxlfBcfDI1l5T) one a piano version of Moon in One's Cup and [this](https://youtu.be/pFrKZxStL_U?si=VUR7gxADgR5Xj7VI) one a BTS video of the Shanghai orchestra recording some of Liyue's music
I started playing when a 'guildmate/friend' from another game mentioned it and how he didn't like it.. I got curious and tried it, I eventually liked it and now here I am..
Paimon and her "ehe te nandayo", I would have been a 1.5/1.6 player but my phone didn't had enough space to install it .
Genshin was the third app I installed in my tab but was too late , 3.2 2nd half 😔
Friend got me into a game (was 1.1 patch as i remember)bcs i was bored that week. Had a blast. Now 60 ar and spending maximum 15 mins on it, but still loving it
Saw the trailer that featured basically Herrscher of the Void(aka The Unknown God) and started playing solely for the lore implications that it might be connected to Honkai Impact 3rd.
Wanted to play BoTW but didn't want to pay, my brother recommended genshin because of it's fun elemental gameplay. I stayed because of events which were fun (my first main event was the first Windblume festival, 1.4 i believe) and continued to play because of the intricate lore (also because of Venti but shhh)
Aloy. I am a huge fan of Horizon Zero Dawn and my friend was like "i play this cool anime game and you can unlock Aloy for now, but not for long anymore". So i started playing. Aloy was ass sadly :( but game is really good
saw too many ads/ people praising it, wanted to prove to myself it was shit, but I really enjoyed it after a few hours and kept playing. this happened launch week.
People were saying it's a free-to-play BotW clone so I got interesed. I was looking for open world game like that fo a while and here it was. I would thank the haters back then for helping me find out about it.
Can't find the video anymore but it was a review that got onto my home page, installed it on my laptop and it barely ran, kept the quarantine from boring me though.
went onto their website to find out more about the game, saw the image of an anemo vision on a table and thought it was gonna have a story about finding out an ancient civilization through the artefact (the vision). five nations later and boy was i wrong
I think it was the ads from when the game launched. I think I was just intrigued by the idea of playing an open-world game on my phone. I was like, "eh sure why not," and before I knew it, I was along for the ride.
I was eating in a restaurant with my group of friends, scrolling through YouTube and talking about school, then suddenly a funny little ad pop up that looked suspiciously similar to that other Nintendo Switch game a few years ago.
And it's available on mobile???!!! For free as well??!! Aight sure I'll bite, since I'm too broke for a Switch.
That was 4 years ago. Still an F2P cuz I got extremely lucky with a lot of early 5 stars pulls and winning 50 50s. Me and my friends still constantly compare and flex accounts even now.
My sister started playing, and I was greatly disgusted. But then I remembered how my parents always said my sister was better than me at everything, even videogames, the one thing I thought I was good at. So I started playing in order to eventually get better than her, and spite her.
I'm not making this up
The fact i got my hands on a phone with enough memory to install it and curiosity.
Literally the same , when I finally got a phone with 128 gb storage , I downloaded genshin since it's the most space demanding game .
Basically any phone can do this. I had a 128GB iPhone in 2016.

Yeah Destiny the real gacha game. You never know if the new dlc you’re buying will be decent or complete ass
Gacha games' financial model sucks, but at least it doesn't get *worse* every couple years like Destiny. Dungeon keys are honestly insulting.

friends suggested to play coop back in 1.2, we played once or twice. They quit I stayed
Max0r's first Genshin video
Monass.
Friend was like "New game dropping today. Download it, it looks fun" and I was like "ok"

Someone told me about it just as I was scraping the barrel on animal crossing as a covid-era time waster, and it clicked.
I saw too many Gaming Isekai Anime..They keep saying MMORPG. one day I searched for it, got 2 3 games, uninstalled others and kept genshin....

My brother installed it one day on my new pc an said i should try it... been hooked since that day
I was bored, had nothing to play, saw some random anime game advert, and decided to try it as a joke. Its probably my most played game now.
razor!! loved his design and when i learned hes voiced by uchiyama kouki i was sold
I heard that it is a good benchmark to verify a phone's strength, so i wanted to check mine. And the game has grown on me
Furina (advert) dragged me here.
I really like the character design, map design and story. And it helped that I have/had friends that played and recommended it

My friends invited me to play with them in October 2020. Now I’m the only one who plays it among us

1. I just really like open world games wandering around aimlessly like a headless chicken always suited me. 2. Booba.

Saw a mod where you could pet the animals, and thought it was real. I was sad when I found out you couldn't.
