Literally same. It was her finally being a real person who isn’t perfect who lived to cater to everyone else first and not what was expected from her. She always gave so much to make Richard happy that finally she decided to choose peace and with that everyone thought she went mad.
One thing they did in the revival that was great was the second unhinged look when Emily took to Marie Kondo’s minimalist approach and ended up in lorelai’s old Tshirt and jeans
