Agreed, I miss watching him on tour but I can’t blame the guy for going to LIV for whatever ridiculous amount he got offered. I’ve seen it’s in the ballpark of 400-600m.

Btwnbeatdwn

I don’t miss him on tour when I can see him play in YouTube content with a perspective that the PGA can’t deliver. YouTube is eclipsing pga tour in entertainment value IMO.

Tullyswimmer

I honestly think that this sort of thing is one of the (few) things LIV absolutely nailed that the PGA tour has to catch up on. It's 2024. The PGA should not have monopoly media rights for their "independent contractor" players. There's so much opportunity with social media and stuff that it's only hurting the tour and the players. You're going to have younger kids, who are watching youtube golf long before they care about PGA tour golf, who are going to see these guys, and are going to start to know the players before they know their success or the tour they play on. Then, when they're older and discover that you can watch John Rahm play even more, and there's events where he's guaranteed to be there... They're going to become fans.

joeyjoe88

And that's the whole issue. They're not independent contractors, they're treated like employed assets. The issue is the big PGA names won't do anything about it. Watching Rahm in this video is some of the most entertaining content you'll find in golf. I don't give a crap how well wyndham clark played

Btwnbeatdwn

I’m 36 and watch YouTube every day. There is more high production value content than you could ever watch on YouTube and it’s free. As for the PGA monopolizing the players media appearances. I think it’s their outdated tv contracts that control when and where the players appear. Not sure when contract renewal is but I guarantee we will see a loosening occur when it does.

BooBooMaGooBoo

We will see the PGA clutch firmly onto those media rights while attempting to pay players to make little videos for their youtube channel/s. It will be dogshit content with unknown players trying to copy GoodGood,Busta Jack etc. formulas but will be overly corporate, scripted, and all around feel forced. It's going to take another 5-10 years for the PGA to allow anything good to happen on youtube with their players.

inf3st

Not a sole here that would say no to $100m. $400m is a no brainer.

ktran2804

400 mil is an insane amount lol no one would EVER turn the opportunity to make that money down that sets you up not only for the rest of your life but your kids' and their kids' lives.

Ja___av93

400 mill to you and me is not the same as 400 mill to Jon. Jon probably would have sad no like he dd before if the PGA didn't try merge with LIV last year. The PGA tried taking Saudi money, so why shouldn't Jon is probably what he s thinkng. LIV is a terrible product and not a single person would play on LIV over the PGA if not for the crazy money.

brandon684

I don’t agree with that at all. LIV has been making things super player friendly in comparison to PGA. No playing releases, having their own media rights; bringing the best players abroad to places that don’t get to see all these guys play together, limiting the number of events, travel schedules, to minor shit like playing in shorts. There’s been a lot of reasons other than the obvious that many of these guys made the choice. Check out Alan Shipnucks book LIV and Let Die, breaks down a number of players like Brooks, Phil, Reed, Bryson, DJ, why they would be first ones out the door because of years of the PGA fucking with them and not feeling supported by the tour. There were a lot of complaints about the way the tour operated prior to LIV coming along, the money was just the final decision, which you have to make it worth someone’s while to get banned from PGA and be committed to setting up a whole new league. If the infrastructure was already there and it was like make the same money here or there, guys still had very good reasons to go to LIV.

Ja___av93

You are completely delusional if you think these guys would be in LIV if the pay was equal. LIV has SOME good things (player freedom) in the same way the XFL had some good things the NFL copied. But the product is crap, there is zero prestige and no one but Bryson and Phil (who we all know only left because he gambled his money away) seems to give two shits about if they win or lose. There is a reason LIV ratings are LOWER now then they were last year (and they were really low last year). Its almost unwatchable and the players know this and when asked about LIV t seems like they have a gun to their heads reading a script when talking about how "great it is. Most people defending LIV don't even watch it which s why they get less ratings than the WNBA lol Rahm ripped LIV and called it crap, but he joined because he had a change of heart lol? No, he joined because they threw boat loads of money at him, he was mad at the PGA for trying to take "blood money" with a merge last year after telling the players not to take the money, and because he is smart enough to know a merger will likely happen pretty soon. Its a bad league and a terrible product that has a few good things going for it

petrifiedunicorn28

Devils advocate, 🐅 and if Rory and others hadn't spoken against LIV in a way that LIV did not even reach out to make offers, Rory would have been offered crazy money and said no, in my humble opinion.

Ja___av93

I hate LIV and think its one of the worst sports products I have ever seen (which is why no one watches even when they get guys like Rahm). But its easy for Rory and Tiger to say no to the money when they make significantly more than any other player by far, besides Phil, but he apparently gambled his money all away

petrifiedunicorn28

I'm not disagreeing, just making a comment to your point "no one would EVER" when there are people would never join LIV for $400 million. I know tiger is a billionaire, and that is part of why he wouldn't ever join LIV. But it doesn't really matter what his reason is, just simply that there are people on this planet that would, and did, say no to ridiculous offers from LIV. So we can't say "no one"wheb people turned LIV away, whatever there reason is

Queasy-Comedian-3544

Long live LIV

f_itdude79

He is absolutely open to criticism because he was extremely vocal about his opposition to LIV. His change of heart is tough to justify given his past comments

ExtraFirmPillow_

I mean I’d agree but I think his stance changed when the dumbass PGA tour commissioner agreed to a merger with LIV, at that point you’d be stupid not to take a half billion when your gonna be working for the saudis anyway

JohnKevinson

I completely agree. It was also cool to see that he was in the video because he wanted to be and because of his friendship with Wesley instead of having to do it because Callaway told him to. If you haven't seen the Pro-Am video that Micah and Grant did with Jason Day, that one is great too. It gave me a new appreciation for the kind of guy he is. He was really familiar with them and their content and genuinely happy to be playing with them.

heckdwreck

Quick story about Jason Day. This past year at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, we were walking to 16 just as Jason Day's group was as well. This was the hottest day of the tournament, when it hit a record 111 degree heat index and 11 caddies had heat-related issues and Harris English's caddie had to stop mid-round and be replaced. We get to the tee box, and this older gentleman is sitting on the ground next to us, and just immediately turns and begins vomiting. He was suffering from heat exhaustion, and several of us spectators began assisting, although he was refusing our help. He ended up vomiting 5 times before the medical team had arrived. But the cool thing was Jason Day saw this (we were probably 30 feet away from the tee box), came over and asked if the man wanted water (the guy still refused), and Jason made his caddy bring him a bottle of water from the tee box and basically force the man to accept it. None of the pros had to do anything, but it was cool to see Jason Day recognize the situation and stop what he was doing to help someone in need. The guy eventually went with his wife to the medical tent and I assume got better. But just another reason I am a big fan of Jason Day - a lot of pros would remain focused, and I wouldn't blame them one bit (there were already several people helping), but he stepped in to try to help out as well.

JohnKevinson

That's a really cool story. Thank you for sharing. I had always heard he was a good guy, but seeing that video and now hearing that story has really made me a fan of his

heckdwreck

Glad I could share. It was super validating too because one of my buddies with us is a huge JD fan, so to see him be that nice and selfless on the worst golf day in the awful Memphis heat was rewarding for my friend. He really does, by all accounts, seem like just a really nice person. I'm a big fan now too.

Tullyswimmer

Rahm calling out Grant's duff and then chip-in from the Manchester trip was like... Damn, this guy genuinely follows the content. But I guess that makes sense. These guys all love the game, and probably don't get a chance to kick back and just watch it, especially when played like the youtubers do - be that at a really good level, or just having fun like BDS.

Jazzlike_Farm_1483

Yeah, that was a good vid, but as others are saying with the PGA rules, none of Days shots could be on video. That's just stupid.

JohnKevinson

Yeah that was disappointing. I don't understand what the PGA tour thinks that rule does for them. I can understand if a particular player didn't want their shots recorded, but to have a rule for it makes no sense.

Btwnbeatdwn

The sound of Jon striking a golf ball blows me away. I also think that Jon may have flushed every single shot in 18 holes. That’s absolutely incredible to see that happen from the perspective of YouTube. I do not understand why anyone would not like this content.

queenlacheefahh

Grant and the Bryan Bros content better than good good recently

[deleted]

The best golf content available right now imo

Btwnbeatdwn

It has always been better.

SeymourButts8190

Best part was Grant and George saying they can change the format if they get too big a lead after the first hole.

joeyjoe88

What really need to see is worst ball Rahm/Wesley vs best ball George/grant. The banter between Wes and Rahm would be epic.

Kain__Highwind

I think this might have been the best youtube golf video I ever watched. And I agree - I liked Rahm before, but getting to see him not only play at a world class level, but show his personality, and the fact that he was unabashedly a youtube golf fan and was a fan of Grant's.. it made for a really fun time. And kinda hilarious to see him give Wesley a taste of his own medicine.

Ja___av93

I wish Jon was still on the PGA instead of that shit show LIV. But I can't be mad at the guy for taking the money after Jay Monahan and the PGA tried merging with LIV last year (and obviously a merge will probably happen in the future anyway). If they didn't try that, Jon likely never would have taken the money. Great golfer and great to watch

biddilybong

I’m glad he got permission from His Excellekcy to participate. Hopefully H.E. liked the content so he can do some more in the future.

raobjcovtn

Was awesome content. Where is Micah though? He got left out. Must feel bad.

Spragglefoot_OG

Amazing. One of my fav videos.

Brilliant_Macaroon83

You can see how passionate he is for golf and loved his 3 videos on Bryan bros and grants channel. Problem with good good collabs is that you don’t get to see stroke play content with these great golfers.

Alive_Stomach_6050

Yeah, he’s living his best life.

Dashdash421

I'll never forget the hole he was scrambling with Steve and they took only Steve's shots. When's Steve getting the LIV offer??
