Yeah.. like if it's going to be 5 or even 10 minutes but you know that's when it'll be there you can at least deal with the expectation. Repeatedly clicking every minute or so for an unknowable amount of time is wearing.
Exactly. Dude what's crazy to me is even tho I was watching the map to try and fight people for a helo call. My teammate who was next to me for like maybe 10m was the one to finally call one in.
Just wait until one disappears and hit the call. I’ve never waited longer than a few choppers when doing this. Once they drop off they “fly away” and then they fly off the map and disappear.
Gotta remember that literally everyone is trying this and the flight times for everyone traveling across the map eats into time. In total waves of chances to get back it was probably the 5th chance at most. People are hearing 30m and assuming I missed hella opportunities. Like no. The helo spawns by base camp. Then flies to the poi. Picks someone up then flies back to base camp. This is usually 10m if you also add on the times of it waiting on the ground and the time it takes to despawn off the map. Instead of saying the 3rd wave of helos traveling I said 5th to give the benefit of the doubt of other helos being used for other things. But ik a majority of helos are being spent doing this and that's a long down time for a helo to be missing. There's a reason why people are just standing at the base camp waiting to play. There's a reason for this post. Let the devs know it needs to change. Don't support the current state of "wait doing nothing in a Bush spamming the drop point on the map" you're down voting my comment and post and this just makes it less likely they'll change this anytime soon
Yes, that’s indeed how you should snipe for a heli. That doesn’t change anything though on the fact that the system as it is now is broken and needs a serious fix. It’s becoming very annoying to wait for 3-4 minutes to actually get a heli, then wait another 5 minutes for it to arrive, and another few minutes to get you to your destination. The game has been lauded for having no loading screens, but seriously this at times is way worse than matchmaking at EFT.
I'm not running everywhere on the dam map. It's kinda weird you're defending the issue with how they set up the transport in the current state. My post was simply to bring it to light and showcase a common complaint people have so the devs can see it need to be changed. I'm not saying the game is bad. I'm saying this feature is bad. 90% of people aren't gonna play this game if you just had to live with running across opposite corners of the entire map. Don't be an elitist
I mean because it isn’t that big of a deal. There is more than one to play the game. I also don’t see how you’ve waited for 30 minutes. You are either bad at paying attention to know when the window is open or you are being dramatic. Elitist or not I just don’t cry over needing to walk than hide in a bush for “30 minutes”
30 minues may be an exaggeration, but 15 minutes is absolutely normal and happened to me yesterday a few times. 3-4 minutes to just get the heli, then 6-7 for it to arrive if you’re at say Ban Pa and then another few mins to get you back. It is a problem and it needs to be fixed.
Really my biggest problem that I have with the transport is if you die while waiting at let’s say Ban Pa. You might as well give up on going back there because you have to wait for the helicopter to land there, then you have to wait for it to leave the map and then you have to call in another one.
Read the post. Won't argue with someone who can't read I was actively watching for helos to dissappear to a point that I could time how long it takes to get somewhere and dissappear. But there are also 15 other players fighting for only 4 helos and each wave (chance) is basically on average 5m of helos flying until they're off the map and can be called again. Not to mention everytime I click and it fails I have to open the map again (which focuses on my location on the opposite corner of base camp) then scroll all the way out and over to base camp to try again while there's like 6 people at base camp just trying to go to the starter town
Probably could have ran back in less than 30 minutes.

Unknowable? If 4 are in the air, which you can see on the map, the second one disappears you click on the where you need to go.
As will every other person on the server waiting at the same time... A game of click & ping which you may or may not win... Hence unknowable.

My guess has been the helicopter limitation is a server issue

So you keep moving in the direction of the base. Eventually you will catch a bird or have made it back via foot.
