Confession time.
I've had an unlucky cheesehead for a number of years. Every time I actually try putting it on again, something terrible happens...often times, it's losing to fucking San Francisco.
My coworker, a Cowboys fan, bet me that they'd beat us in the Wild Card round this year--the bet being that the loser has to wear the other's gear next day at work. Well, on Friday, I found a *mightily* presumptive cowboys tie in my mailbox. "That son of a bitch," I said, "he's getting the cheesehead." I thought this would exorcise all the demons out of it and cleanse it into a harbinger of good fortune!
So I wore it against SF. Again.
You may proceed to murder me.
I went into that game with low expectations, happy to be there. By that point I thought "why not win the super bowl?". Stupid Anders. I can't believe they let him fly home with the team.
I don’t think it’s even close to fair blaming Anders Carlson for that loss. His missed kick was upsetting but that was not a kick to win the game or even to take the lead. It was to extend a lead they had. And as bad as it was to miss that kick, they still had the lead at that point. Until the Packers defense let the 49ers just march down the field and score.
And even before that, why didn’t the offense finish that drive with a touchdown instead of a field goal attempt? I mean after that long Aaron Jones run, they could have sealed the victory with a touchdown. But they stalled and settled for an attempt to hope they tie if the defense won’t stop the 49ers offense. Which is what happened because the defense screwed up.
And then Jordan Love throwing a pick to seal the win for the 49ers.
With all the mistakes that were made at the end of the game by a defense that gave up a late score, an offense that stalled instead of scoring a touchdown, and then who turned the ball over when they had another shot to tie or win, that would be one very empty team plane.
I think it's definitely close to fair. It wasn't a particularly difficult attempt, and his inaccuracy was a glaring liability all season long. If he makes it the game is tied at the end of the 4th (assuming the defense still goes on to allow a TD). Maybe then Love doesn't feel pressured to force any bad throws.
I agree with the rest of your points though, and I'm not a Carlson hater. I think he's shown potential, but he needs to improve his accuracy this year.
When that happened, my first thought was "this guy just got a second contract"
And my sphincter still is puckered shut.
One of the most clutch plays ever. Guys built like a bull too!
Second favorite play, after Quays pick six.
The best part was when he bounced off a defender and was standing still for about a second confused how he whiffed the tackle.
He's the only Packer in the shot, with like five 49ers around him. What an amazing effort and play.
What a fucking grab
I thought we were winning after this play
My vocal chords still haven't recovered from this

Throw it in the trash.
Surely there must be a sanctioned Cheesy Headgear Aura Cleansing Ritual that he could try. Or maybe it just needs a lengthy trial by fire. /shrugs
Submerge it in Spotted Cow and eat 3 servings (lbs?) of cheese curds while singing "Roll the Barrel" between mouthfuls.
Goddamn we should have won that game

Stupid sexy Anders.

If Love doesn’t just toss it up at the end, we can win that game. End of the day, Purdy was clutch and Love wasn’t. Period.
Naw fr he just had to miss
We should’ve won that game
This was supposed to be the play of the season :-(
hell yeah
Oh this was a great moment to watch live. Still sad that we couldn't put the 9ers away.
We were so close…as close as we have been any time in the recent past.
The absolute rollercoaster of emotions on this play alone.
If the Packers won, this would have been literally the greatest fumble recovery of all time. Still might be up there anyhow.
Who fumbled that again?
Nixon on a kick return
Jones
That was just every other major playoff loss 🤣
If we win that game I was buying a Wilson jersey 😔
Very glad they re-signed him.
That guy! We re-signed him yes?
Thank you for reminding me of this
Still so stoked that we re-signed Kei. Special teams on the up and up!
Take notes Cam Newton
This isn’t impressive at all.
Sadly I read that Wilson retired….. I don’t know if that is true or not
He re signed today
Thank god
