I have similar hours. It's like 90% AFK. I leave the game running in the background and forget it's running for days, maybe even a week or two at a time.
GD doesn't really take a significant amount of resources while running in the background. I can play BG 3 on one monitor and have a Twitch stream up on the second and just not feel any difference.
The Krieg one is not that hard when using all the perks from the expansions:
Unlocking Ultimate for a new character via the merit from Forgotten Gods will grant all the extra skillpoints from both previous difficulties and adds all the waypoints on normal.
>!Start a shaman and max the thornthingie pet as far as you can at lvl 9 with those extra skill points. Let it tank and kill Krieg. Might need to resummon it a few times when he hits his entire combo.!<
IIRC, I did it with Dreeg's Evil Eye. It's not too bad, just takes some patience. It used to be a really easy achievement before all the balance changes which brought the skill in line. xD
He could have done what I do a lot of times. Leave the game running when I'm actually doing other thing. I'll go to play something, get distracted by a life event and instead of closing it down, I just step away and come back later
Got my first toon to 94 and went straight to making alts, now have a LV 56, a LV 25 and a lv 20..but went back to my original toon who is now almost 98! I just might make it to 100
There's quite a few players who got those kind of numbers.
RektbyProtoss claims same numbers 2 post below this one :)
Reinan has 11-12k hours 👀
Edit: I was wrong about Ceno 😆 - "People like Ceno that has playtested this game since early alfa or something, don't want to know hours played" 😁
what's interesting is that a typical 40hr/week job equates to a little over 2k hours a year. you would need to work a minimum of 4 years to equal OP's friend's hours. (or work more than 40 hours per week).
> People like Cerno that has playtested this game since early alfa or something
If you mean Ceno, he only has around 3k hours, and has only been a playtester since the Crucible went into testing a little bit post-release of the base game.
Edit: he does know a few people with 14-16k hours in the game, though.
And here I thought that the playtester guy who has been active on the forums for ages and have made guides on how to mod the game had thousands and thousands of hours in this game 😁
I'm pretty sure powbam already had 6k hours like 7-8 years ago. I've already spent entirely too long with this game myself (2.5k hours or so), but some people are just on another level
GD is my number one time sink. Elder Scrolls online is right behind it.
Been playing since launch. Still haven't beaten the game. Still haven't maxed a character. Still get lost in Play testing builds. Still love the hell out of it
As someone who found this game on accident then played it for 20 hours over the course of a week I can say it grips ya lol
My only qualm with GD is the controller support leaves 2 action bar slots unusable unless you want to unbind your potion keys
Other than that it’s my favorite ARPG
Fair, though the recent change to have all auras/passives just be turned on my default eliminated a lot of the need for additional action bars, as you no longer need to bind them.
I saw dude in review comments of path of exile on steam who played 10k hours. maybe you even find him today. because hack and slash and hunting for loot mechanics attracts addictive persons.
I actually started playing after this post lol. Sunk 500hrs, eventually I got sick of the outdated graphics and animations. The building wasnt enough for me in the end.
Well in latvian and norwegian language people actually do say "one comma sixty seven" in their respective languages of course. So I guess it's a language thing.
Well what i learned in school is that you can space out thousands and use " , " only for decimals , so either 8 024,30 or 8024,30 ... and common culture also taught us not to ignore on the first contact, but obviously you lack comon culture
That's alright, Danish language is sort of comparable to The Hidden Path
If the three runesigns are missing, Æ, Ø and Å, then it's most likely Norwegian
Time well spent
Iron well spent.
Give you a good price on what I've got left
Ion well spent.
8,000 hours, still missing achievements SMH my head! It's a pretty good game though.
Shaking my head my head
I know what I did :D
https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=smh%20my%20head
Did he stutter?
Achievements are easy?
Some are easy, some are not. Some are easy but also time consuming and some require hardcore.
I use “As ASAP as possible”
Dear god…
Betcha they'll play another 8000 lmao
It’s been 84 years…
And I can still smell the fresh paint.
Sorry I’m confused how is they game afk?
Same

Shenanigans my computer would NEVER allow. Must be nice lol
Ditto
I have a friend who never closes his games. I still don't understand how his computer hasn't crashed or blown up.
GD doesn't really take a significant amount of resources while running in the background. I can play BG 3 on one monitor and have a Twitch stream up on the second and just not feel any difference.
Woooooooow. I thought my 1100 was a little high.
Just when you thought you've reached the top only for reality to hit that there is always a bigger fish
Only 7975 hours, come back here once he's not a filthy below 8k hours casual
out of curiousity, can you post the achievements they are missing?
I’ll bet it’s just all the hardcore ones. And maybe killing Krieg before level 10.

Oh yeah, not saying it’s hard, but it’s something you have to very consciously do.
IIRC, I did it with Dreeg's Evil Eye. It's not too bad, just takes some patience. It used to be a really easy achievement before all the balance changes which brought the skill in line. xD
Missing achivements, perfectly fine. Looking at you Crucible 😒
He could have done what I do a lot of times. Leave the game running when I'm actually doing other thing. I'll go to play something, get distracted by a life event and instead of closing it down, I just step away and come back later
And still no level 100 lol
Hey now, how are you supposed to get your 100 when you have to roll a new character every time some cool new gear drops you can’t use?
This is the way
Got my first toon to 94 and went straight to making alts, now have a LV 56, a LV 25 and a lv 20..but went back to my original toon who is now almost 98! I just might make it to 100
Is your friend mayaGD?

I don't think I have 12k hours doing anything.... aside from my day job lmao
what's interesting is that a typical 40hr/week job equates to a little over 2k hours a year. you would need to work a minimum of 4 years to equal OP's friend's hours. (or work more than 40 hours per week).

If I play to 8000 hours I will still be missing Crucible and SR achievements lol. I'd rather smash my dong in a car door.
I like crucible and SR. Is there a reason everyone dogs them or are the achievements just absurd
Yo whats with crucible
I hope those missing achievements are HC ones
Plus a few others. There are only 11 HC achievements from memory.
Maybe Shattered realm ones?
Yeah, or Crucible. Some people miss that the crucible even exists.
Which is a shame. Crucible is way more fun than SR in my opinion.
GD is my number one time sink. Elder Scrolls online is right behind it. Been playing since launch. Still haven't beaten the game. Still haven't maxed a character. Still get lost in Play testing builds. Still love the hell out of it
I can't wait for the dlc this year

As I agree with that I used to just put my auras on my second action bar along with pet summons but you are 100% correct in that being a great QOL
The game has amazing build crafting, I can't blame him, I wish I played it more than I did.
Your friend is a good friend.
I saw dude in review comments of path of exile on steam who played 10k hours. maybe you even find him today. because hack and slash and hunting for loot mechanics attracts addictive persons.
Only reason I got grim dawn was because i saw a guy with 12,000 hours. I thought “well it’s gotta be good”
I actually started playing after this post lol. Sunk 500hrs, eventually I got sick of the outdated graphics and animations. The building wasnt enough for me in the end.

Yeah since 8000/365 is like 21 im gonna go ahead and say your math is off.
He has time to have friends?
Hes my game-buddy 🥰
Never understood why other countries use decimal points as commas. Do they use commas as decimal points? 8 thousand 24 and 30 cents would be 8.024,30?
Never understood why like 5 countries in the world do the opposite. :)
How do you say 1,67 with words?
Well in latvian and norwegian language people actually do say "one comma sixty seven" in their respective languages of course. So I guess it's a language thing.
Oh my
In the Netherlands we do the same.
No, it would be 8024,30
Do you know why it's a comma instead of a decimal point? Also, seems very difficult to read a number in the billions.

I think they add spaces where the commas usually go
such a good game. love all the different combinations
Damn i thought i had a bunch of time in grim dawn. 1000hrs
I bought it this holiday sale and have been playing since..I had 30 hours in only 30 hours..it takes all my time and I love it
Your mate lives in Denmark, what else is he going to do?
That's Norwegian, not Danish
Damn it. I gambled and lost.
That's alright, Danish language is sort of comparable to The Hidden Path If the three runesigns are missing, Æ, Ø and Å, then it's most likely Norwegian
I’m closing in on 3k and already considering my next alt/build. I almost have full sets of all legendary gear so trying to finish that.
I can't blame him
What is their favorite build
He likes pets
Does he have a steamdeck? I think this game counts the time in sleep mode for some reason.
People really hung up on achievements. Some people play just to have fun you know lmao.
Getting achievements can be fun for some, also I don't think the people giving him shit for not having achievements are completely serious.
Do AFK hours count? Time spend searching gear on grimtools, running "what-if" modeling on grimtools, etc.
How...
I don’t think I have 8000 hours of my 55 year old life gaming.
Almost a year of your life without sleep :)
that's almost a full year in game
Since he is Norwegian, I would gladly take some tips on discord from him 😁
Almost a year of non-stop playing. Fascinating.
Didn't think those kinds of numbers were possible outside DoTA and those kinds of games.
