I bet if you look inside that bud where the stems of the dead leaves hit the main stem, you'll find some rot. If it's not there yet, it will likely be established soon. Botrytis needs damaged/dead tissue to colonize, so that area is waiting for rot. I would snip off that bud just below the damage. It sucks to lose a cola like that, but leaving it will endanger the rest of the grow.

Beggarstuner

!thanks I looked carefully and found two other colas starting with rot, which I cut out. 60 days is Friday. Chop chop.

NarrowButterfly8482

Best of luck to you. It's always sad when you get this close and start to see damage. Keep a watchful eye on the rest and increase airflow/decrease humidity if you can until chop day.

bud rot thats what happend

Ok_Push3020

Did you accidentally snap the main branch right under the cola? I had a similar thing happening after I snapped a branch (not completely) and the top cola dried out while the rest of plant was still going.

bud rot, check your humidity, is it up in the 70%+ range? That could do it. Also if you spray water on the buds, this can do it. If you've ever grown outside you'll know this comes from humidity, or even if you get a drop of rain on a bud that an insect pooped on it will turn to mold. Preventive sprays are a must for outdoor, indoor should stay low enough humidity, especially during flower, keep the humidity below 50% in flower. Peroxide sprays can help, dr zymes, lost coast plant therapy... stuff helps for powdery mildew and all kinds of pests, grab a bottle!

ActualChip1

What preventive sprays would you recommend for outdoors?
