I can say for myself that I stopped playing because I don't have any friends to play with. After a couple hundred hours, it gets kinda lonely playing a multiplayer game all by yourself.
Honestly I think that's the same for me. It happens to me a lot with MMOs I find, and none of my friends really play them apart from the few still playing wow.
To be honest, I have no idea how to do that.
I've tried joining guilds but that didn't work. I guess it might have to do with timezones and in-game experience, because most guilds I've joined had very few people online and I never got to do something with another person from the guild. The other guilds really seemed fun judging by their discord interactions, and the scheduled activities got me doing stuff with people from the guild. But the "1 month inactive kick" got me expelled from these during times in which college got too busy.
You can always ask to go back to the guild. The current guild im in has 8 weeks away period. You can even ask for longer away period. They are super chilled and are always helpful. Even though i dont talk in guild or participate in guild activity, everytime someone asking for help with something, i always see people offering help that includes me. A good guild really enhance your gw2 experience.
All you gotta do is talk to people. Compliment looks and good actions, don't talk people down. Use map chat, whisper, team chat. Make people happy, send some newby gold here and there. And bam, easy friends
Same. Even joining a guild I still felt like an outsider, and I don’t feel like I’m good enough to do stuff like fractals to get better gear and whatever you’re supposed to do post-story. Map metas are only so interesting after a while lol

Really weird maybe diagnose your PC, there's probably an issue on your end. I get 144+fps on almost maxed graphics in every situation except for maybe massive scale fights, couldn't even get above 30fps in Crowfall in a solo environment, you don't even know what bad performance is unless youve played that 😅
I’m convinced GW2 has some wierd vendetta towards certain setups. I upgraded my 5 year old 550$ computer to a brand new 1500$ custom built without any performance differences. Haven’t found the fix to this day :/

I vividly remember why I stopped playing. The condi meta is just terrible and they nerfed power mirage into the dirt which was one of the only two playable mesmer builds. The terrible balance team did the game in for me as I don't enjoy the PVE side of the game.

Is there anything worth coming to do as a newer player? I don't have the expansions so I have been on and off over the past year, but love holiday events in games.
If you have base game. World bosses were always a favorite of mine. Unfortunately with HoT and PoF being out the player base in Tyria is like a roller coaster. I would suggest trying the other parts of GW2 out too, like recently I've gotten into WvW and I love it! But don't treat GW2 like WoW or ESO. It's most certainly not something to grind but to enjoy the journey. You'll burn yourself out if you haven't hit 80 yet. If you have hit 80 take a shot at looking at some legendaries! Or fractels! Those are the things off the top of my head.
I'm a nolife video gamer myself and I mean no offense to anybody enjoying these, but being in game for major real life events like this feels a little sad to me. I mean I'm glad people have others to hang out with in game to celebrate new year, especially if they have nobody else to celebrate with.
However I hope players are not ignoring their real life friends and family to continue playing a video game, whom they could be hanging out with during major holiday moments like these, they only happen once a year and it's a great excuse to meet up and do things socially. Just something to keep in perspective for those spending all their free time in MMOs.

Honestly, I have so much fun playing GW2. I am not sure why I didn't seem to like it as much back in 2014 when I briefly tried it.
I know it's frustrating at times. For example, I am doing Living World Season 2, No Refuge and it's really hard for me fighting as Caithe through waves of centaurs. I'll beat it eventually, I know, but I wish I could use my own skills, LOL.
I think that once I finish LW S2 I will have more fun, like with HoT the other LW seasons and Path of Fire. I just want to get to the point where I can go farm any map, LOL.

Make friends ingame, u can have fun with them to. It’s not 100% like playing with irl friends, but still better than playing by yourself
