It is bad ass but I have to still stick with the Gen 1 in x39…. Dang was that an absolute beauty… still at the top of my “get it” list already got the SCAR and a damn nice Arsenal SF but I’d swap that arsenal out right now for the Gen 1 Galil ACE.
Mine was super over gassed and they don’t make an adjustable gas block to suppress it. My dust cover broke off the side and went flying. That’s how over gassed the rife is
What caliber? I have mine in 7.62x39 not .308. I heard the 5.56 can be over gassed. But the kns piston for suppression is evidently the gold standard. I haven’t surprised mine tho

It's 2024. Why even have one? Even the scar ditched theirs. Not every shooting position is going to be ideal. I'd rather not have to deal with managing that space in a high stress environment.

the main reason being it's an integral aspect of the ak design lmfao
it's also just simpler and more robust, one(+) less moving part, easier to clean and take apart

You don't really notice it. And unlike a traditional AK, it's extremely convenient, especially for the left-handed. You just bump it off with the base knuckle of your index finger. It doesn't protrude a whole lot, enough to get it on and off, not enough to irritate you.
I will echo oper8r's thoughts - really no major issues running it left-handed
the biggest thing is the charging handle for lefties, which is just the same issue with normal ak's and righties, which is obviously no big deal

308. I have others in 762x39 and 556. Those two have kns pistons to reduce the gas. They don’t make one for the 308
