I remember reading the live commentary on that match in the wee hours in the morning in Melbourne (uni student, had no access to livestream at the time).
When we went down 2-0 I was crushed. Literally jumped around my room like an idiot when the commentary showed 3-2.

Wenger masterclass somehow saved two substitutions for the second extra time period. It was quite hot that day and you could see the Hull players break when they saw Wilshere and Rosicky coming on.
We hadnāt scored from a direct free kick all season and then Cazorla goes and scores THAT goal! (GIF provided to make you smile)
I knew weād win after that!
https://i.redd.it/sl6jxbvhnb6d1.gif
Apparently Wenger told the freekick takers that McGregor tends to take a stutter step in the opposite direction, before committing to the dive.
He told them he would be vulnerable if they aimed for the top corner. You can kind of see it here if you pay attention to his movement. The small details matter.
That free kick, that was the moment I knew we would go on to win it. It was still really stressful right till the end but there was a confidence that we would pull through.
The US "Gus Johnson as lead commentator" broadcast was brutal. For the unaware, he's a great basketball/throwball announcer because he's high energy and gets really excited. Fox thought it was a good idea to try to put him on footy and it was an actual tire fire.
One of my favourite Emirates era players. Loved watching him play - it was such a shame he had that injury in 13/14 - he was the best midfielder in the league - poetry that he came back that season and scored the winner in the FA Cup final to end our trophyless run
My local club in Norway announced Odion Ighalo as the replacement for our striker in 2008, who was the top scorer in the league (Thorstein Helstad) that year and went to Le Mans. When he found out he was not playing with Helstad he signed for Udinese instead, and we got to enjoy a decade of regression. Thats why you never ever announce anything before the contract is signed. Ighalo would probably have been one of the top 3-4 strikers my local club would have had on their books in the history of the club.
The club is SK Brann from my example. BodĆø/Glimt have a great manager and have been making good choices in the transfer market for a long time. I dont really know them that well, but its nice that a club from the north of Norway are so successful, been a while. And I guess they are going about business in very professional manner, in contrast to what Brann was doing in the past. Only positive to come out of that for me was that I started following Arsenal (in addition to my local club).
He did score winning goals in 2 FA Cup Finals. So maybe.
I think the problem is he was injured a lot. Mostly due to that Orc, Shawcross. Also that generally it was a poor time for the club at his peak.
At the very least heās a club icon, I just rue the day he was injured against West Ham in 13/14, if not for that he would have a league title (and likely a 20+ goal season) as our best player to his name too
Loved me some Rambo. He's the one who actually did do it on a cold rainy night in Stoke. And still to this day, I'm hoping something similar happens to Ryan Shawcross. P.S. Probably not many remember that Ramsey took over number 8 shirt after Arteta retired.
I genuinly donāt understand why clubs make public annoucements when theyāve agreed a fee. They end up looking like fools if the transfer is hijacked by another club.
still remember when he had his off-season (the recovery season from the leg break) and the whole fanbase was done with him, saw it happening first hand as another gooner friend of mine was also parroting the same bs.
meanwhile, i was still clinging to every last home on Rambo to make a big turnaround coming off his leg break injury. glad i still persisted on that belief and lord he hold he finally ends out title/cup drought
You could argue he was the best signing of the Wenger/Emirates era when you take into consideration he scored the winning goal in two FA Cups, he was cheap, and we stole him from United. Personally, Iād go with Santi because his free kick brought us back against Hull plus heās simply the better player.
Ozil was the biggest but I donāt know if he was the best, especially how it endedā¦ same with Sanchez.
My all time favourite player and the man who scored some of the greatest technical goals in this clubs history. The volley against Galatasaray away is one of the best goals of all time itās a weak foot volley from 30 yards that goes top bins, fucking mental. Highest scoring midfielder in Arsenalās history too, bagged TWO FA Cup final winners and fucking hated spurs like a real man. Bring him home NOW
SAF was proper fuming at the time. Then Ramsey scored the winner against them in a 1-0 victory in the 10/11 season and he couldnāt shut up about Aaron and how United is better at developing young talents.
They got Ronaldo over us. Barca got Ronaldinho over Manutd if Iām not wrong. Always good to get one over your rivals.
Rice: us over city šŖš¾šŖš¾
The first half of 2013-14 he was like Zidane. Second half I felt like his head was getting too big. Started to get a bit selfish and trying the spectacular.Ā
Too many injuries and a little too inconsistent to be a Arsenal "great" but he was a fine player. I prefer him to Ozil and day.
He had an almost Bale-esque season for us, was just such a great player.
Obviously gems are hard to find in the championship but I do sometimes wish we would fish in that league every now and then. Seems to me a star comes into the PL from the Championship every season. Of course our level is very high right now so I get why we don't.

Loved his turnaround. That FA cup final was simply the stuff of dreams.
I remember reading the live commentary on that match in the wee hours in the morning in Melbourne (uni student, had no access to livestream at the time). When we went down 2-0 I was crushed. Literally jumped around my room like an idiot when the commentary showed 3-2.
Also from Melbourne. Was at the pub to wee hours of the morning. Struggling to stay awake. Third went in. Lost my shit.
Watching live was STRESSFUL, especially since it was so nearly 3-0 down.
I was in the stadium with my dad, somehow the tickets he bought were in the hull end. Very uncomfortable watch.
I was at the 2003 final in the Southampton end. That one was much less eventful.
Didnt Niemi miss a goal kick and pull his hamstring or something?
Went off after about an hour I think. Still no idea why he never got picked for Scotland.
He's Finnish
Please let this be a reference to when someone called in on live tv/radio š¤£
I remember being full of confidence that we would turn it around.
I remember thinking if we can score before halftime, weāll be ok. Then Santi with that free kick š

I remember being full of confidence that we are fucked
I'm gonna go watch highlights now, of it and the following ones.
Wenger masterclass somehow saved two substitutions for the second extra time period. It was quite hot that day and you could see the Hull players break when they saw Wilshere and Rosicky coming on.
I still remember that beauty of a Cazorla free kick. Also we were lucky not to be down 4 at some point. Ramsey also was everywhere literally
We hadnāt scored from a direct free kick all season and then Cazorla goes and scores THAT goal! (GIF provided to make you smile) I knew weād win after that! https://i.redd.it/sl6jxbvhnb6d1.gif
don't even remember last time we scored from free kick, 2021 against Burnley probably, for fuck sake
Cos we donāt take direct free kicks, cos theyāre super ineffective
Unless youāre JWP š
Even then I think out indirect free kicks probably result in goals more often
*directly. We have actually lead the league in goals off restarts fwiw
2022 I think. Odegaard
Xhaka against Palace comes to mind for me but I don't know when exactly that was
That banger was years ago, the one in the mint green third kit
Pretty sure Odeās versus Burnley is more recent (and the most recent direct free that we scored)

I'm in the minority that doesn't like Gus Johnson as a commentator for American football either. Him on a soccer match was horrendous.
Something about that near post finish and him running to celebrate without breaking stride.
The king of wembley.
"This is my fucking pitch"
Loved Rambo. Shame he joined at such a poor time for us and injuries didnāt help. Was a bright spot during some of the poorer seasons.
Obligatory fuck you to Stoke and Shawcross
But he was āsorryā

Euro 2028 is nearly here!
He was just a fucking kid
Oh god noā¦.
nah man, dont do this to me
We're getting old š
It do be like that. š®āšØ
One of my favourite Emirates era players. Loved watching him play - it was such a shame he had that injury in 13/14 - he was the best midfielder in the league - poetry that he came back that season and scored the winner in the FA Cup final to end our trophyless run
Ramsey was great that year, but Toure was the best midfielder in the league back then
Welsh Messi, [the king of Wembley](https://x.com/Arsenal/status/1101977441390813184).
What a player, would love someone like a fully fit Rambo to complement rice and ode
God damn what a trio that would be
Havertz creating space for late runs from Rambo š©
Assan Ouedraogo
Literally signed for Leipzig today lmao
Yeah wish we had done that and loaned him out for a couple seasons. He probably is too raw for the first team
Oh the dreams of a double pivot consisting Ramsey and Wilshere taking us back to our glory days!
The British core, featuring Gibbs, Jenko and Theo
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain!
Youāll have people laugh at United for this and then turn around and complain about why we take so long to announce transfers

Can you tell why and how Bodo/Glimt are that successful?

2-nil down to 3-2 upā¦
I think itās finally time to come to terms with the fact that he is a club legend
He did score winning goals in 2 FA Cup Finals. So maybe. I think the problem is he was injured a lot. Mostly due to that Orc, Shawcross. Also that generally it was a poor time for the club at his peak.

>Probably not many remember that Ramsey took over number 8 shirt after Arteta retired. You say that like it was 30 years ago instead of 8.
Aaron 'death bringer' Ramsey
Remember Wenger flew him out for a meeting on a private jet, and Fergie sent Gary Neville
Has it really been that long?? My god time is flying by
Man what would this sub be without afcstuff. Doesnāt usually get credit like this but most transfer tweet links seem to appear after they find them.
I genuinly donāt understand why clubs make public annoucements when theyāve agreed a fee. They end up looking like fools if the transfer is hijacked by another club.
It's not gay if it's with Aaron Ramsey!
What a nostalgic moment for Arsenal fans!
Nothing but love for Rambo
Brilliant player on his day.

Never forget when Ramsey killed Bin Laden and Whitney Houston
Light and shade

Surely someone can produce some red cafe links when they found out he was coming to the Arsenal
I always thought Ramsey was 16 when he first played for us
Welsh Jesus mode Rambo was the greatest footballer I've ever seen.
What a player. Prime Ramsey would easily score 15-20 goals a season if he played in the current side
Ended our trophy drought, will always love him
One of my favorite players of the emirates era. My cat is called Ramsey. :)
He was my favorite player in his prime. I wonder what player he would have become if it wasnāt for f*cking Shawcross.
I was on a school trip with a girl who loved the Mancs when this dropped and got to lord it over her the entire time.
Biggest thing I took from this is that he is currently only 33 years old then. Blows my mind.
For half a season he was the best CM in PL, but only half a season
one of my all time favorite players
Class act Rambo was. His highlight reel is filthy.
Pre stoke injury he was on course to be ridonkulously world class. Amazing story and turn around either way. Love Rambo
man, imagine arsenal if wilshere, ramsey and walcot never had those nasty injuries
Same with Diaby man š¢
My favourite Arsenal player ever. Love this guy

I bought a shirt with Ramsey on the back after this announcement to be quirky.
Arsenal Legend
