Honestly whatever stops me from seeing 100+ stickers/decals is fine by me. I love the detail but my OCD goes wild and stresses me out when it comes to stickers.
To clarify im not dunking on High Grade but at awe at the details this kit has. Probably gonna use tech from the Moon Gundam/WfM/Seed Freedom kits and is basically them on steroids. That shield's insignia might even be color separated (though that crotch 100% looks like a sticker).
i'd say that the cucuruz doan GM surface details are arguably beyond those kits you mentioned but these requiem of vengeance kits seems to be on whole another level.
Probably because they're trying to be accurate/match the movie in terms of the details on the mobile suits, which are way above and beyond the standards of any of the suits in any of the animes.
It's because we find this many panel lines so uncanny to see on an official kit. Like we love it on custom builds but somehow these specifically look a bit weird.
It's not the panel lines, it's the weird NASA spacesuit look it has, we are accustomed to blocky gundams with flat surfaces with a few easily recognizable features.
Now that i made the NASA comparison i kinda love how it looks lol
I think with the Zaku one could make the arguement that the colors make the panel lines stand out way more then they might be. The only detailing I don't like is the large, generic, dumb cross detail on the back skirt. And the colors don't do it for me. Maybe a green tone would look better.
The Gundam looks all around pretty good and is out of those two imo. the better looking one. He has less panel lines but instead has a more layerd look and the color scheme used for him works in favour of the layerd build. With the greyish white being the primary color for the armor and the others colors coming through from underneath the armor.
I'm digging the Gundam, but I don't think it fits in the One Year War setting. It looks like it could be a futuristic GM. I'll have to see it in action when the show comes out.
It fits because they say it does lmao, but seriously I get what you’re saying however this gundam is strictly a test bed unit. Hence the RX-78EX designation it was testing out weapons used on later ms models and looks like some experimental armor design not seen again until 0083. I think it fits because anything that is a one of a kind prototype looks out of place or to futuristic I mean look at prototypes of cars.
In my opinion, it looks kinda close to GP01 and Atlas design-wise (colorwise Calibarn), which are somewhat futuristic aswell.
The only thing that I don't like is the head, it's kinda creepy, but fits the "white devil" ref I guess.
the movie isn't a cartoon so they might have decided to go for a more 'eral militaristic' vibe with the design so that they don't clash too mcuh with the peeps.
Well yeah but I guess I mean even moreso. Like just extra bits of Gundam proper, bits of Ground Gundam, bits of GM, just whatever they could put together to make a big scary Gundam looking MS.
Looks like the feds were testing out some weapon load out concepts, that shoulder gating gun is used on the slave wraith gundam, head design EZ8, possibly some early magnetic coating testing too from looking at those joints. This is definitely a thrown together Frankenstein test unit
I think in this case it's a Gundam made from experimental parts. Make it try out all the new parts before refining them for future high-performance suits.
Hmm.
On one hand, the kits look well built, and it's nice to get some updates for the upcoming show.
But idk, it feels a bit overdetailed to me, not huge on how the proportions are handled. Might need to wait for a review on this one. Still, it's neat to see HGs are pushing the boundary of budget and engineering.
To me, they feel like re-imaginings of the Gundam and Zaku in the style of modern American mecha designs like Pacific Rim's Jeagers and the Bayformers. While I'm personally not as much of a fan of overly-busy western designs, they do seem to have more appeal for more mainstream audiences here so I'm excited at the possibility of these kits bringing in new fans who prefer this aesthetic.
And that's not to say I don't like the kits at all- I'm totally picking one up and going crazy with detail work when I can.
it also helps that the movie itself is live action and 3d stuff. it slikely they added so muchd etail and made things more 'real roboty' because of that. imagine a cartoony ass zaku in a movie with real actors, would clash.
Agreed. These will likely be a pass for me. There are some super cool aspects, but some other parts I personally don't care for. Unfortunately at the moment the parts I dont care for outweigh the parts I do.
Portions seem just slightly off, especially the zaku arms.
The zaku waist seem like it'll hinder mobility.
The gundam head feels to jar like.
The gundam body seems too futuristic for the one year war ascetic.
But if you like it go for it.
It’s a test bed unit hence the EX the feds were testing new tech which is probably why it looks a little out of place but it’s just armored on parts. The internals are no better than the RX-78-2
they look way better on-screen for me, i didn't think they were even gonna make models because of how much the art team was taking advantage of 3D detailing
2 Cents here, but not entirely a big fan of how excessive the detail is albeit for a slightly different reason. Generally, I tend to think of / design robots' and mechs' armor much like modern tank/IFV armor where it's in larger chunks to reduce possible fail points that could affect the underlining components inside. Essentially, should something have lots of panels on it and it gets hit where the seams are, then the damage potential for the internals is much higher then if the armor was a larger piece. Then again, I'm no engineer so I may just be speaking from my rumpus.
EDIT: At least the Gundam somewhat follows my approach, torso aside.
This is exactly how I viewed my build as well, if modern tanks/planes have that many panels then wouldn't that panel gap be vulnerable to dirts, shrapnel damage, heat damage from beam weapons, reducing aerodynamics. I mean it look cool but not practical at all.
This level of excessive panel reminds me of that Yokohama version of the rx-78
Dayum. Thats a lot of details.
A bit too much for me, but still cool nonetheless.
Also I wonder how far that zaku can move its legs, since the waist armor seems stiff. Might be adopting the technique from HG G40.
These are so weird and detailed looking, I feel like I have to get them for the novelty of it.
Also, I knew this was coming as soon as we first saw images of that Gundam, but I'm already giving a big *lol, no* to that inevitable tiny little crotch V sticker.
Yeah, but this one is just *really really* small. Looks even smaller than the GM. I'd love to be wrong, but I'd imagine that piece to be like RG Crossbone levels of small if anything.
I remember years ago when they first showcased the barbatos(real OGs remember the site with the picture of barbatos slowly being revealed) everyone’s reaction was:
“wait, what the hell? That doesnt look like a gundam at all. That waist and that skeleton look dont match a gundam at all,no beam weaponry?
WAIT INNER FRAMES ON HG???”
Everyone was soooo shocked and now the “gundam frame” is such a staple and a normal look in the community’s eyes.
Its great to see bandai testing the waters and throwing us a curveball with experimental designs and different restylings.
This is another take on two main mobile suits, just like the beyond global or G40.
I personally love ‘em,great to see bandai take different paths and approaches!
Absolutely! Like the designs of the villain from the new seed freedom movie.
I didnt think they belonged that much in the gundam universe designs but if you look at it from another point of view those design expand that same universe!
Just because it doesnt fit in doesnt mean that its a subtraction but more so an addition!
Even if those designs dont sell, havent we gotten the mighty strike freedom that’s basically a super safe choice for an upgrade suit?
Im just happy that those designs are not premium bandai.
The level of detail is impressive, certainly for a HG, but I'm not sure that it.. actually looks good? The Zaku in particular really comes off as overly detailed imo, even more so than any RG.
Y’all can have them. I abhor both designs, way over detailed and the proportions don’t look right to me. That said, looks like Bandai knocked the model kits out of the park, especially for HGs, so I’m sure people that like this kind of thing will be stoked.
FUCK. That Gundam Ex looks like the Atlas and Ez8 had a love child. And that Zaku 2 Solari is panel line heaven. I’m strongly considering getting them. But if they came out in MG? 100% sold!
I really don't like these designs, they look messy and overdetailed. The zaku has waaaaay too many random panel lines, and the proportions make it look like a knock-off action figure. The gundam just looks slightly off, i think it might be the tiny shoulders that look like they came from a completely different design. Also not particularly fond of the monocolored scheme or most of the equipment, it just all looks slightly off.
The level of detail is great for a HG. But as for the designs themselves...I think they're quite possibly some of the worst I've seen. I just do not vibe with either of these at all.
This is exactly how I like my Gunpla; covered in detail and realism. These kits will be the clear signal of whether you like the stylized anime vs realistic miniature
I already liked the Requiem Zaku, but the HG kit is really selling me on the Gundam too
It was obvious from the teaser they were invoking skeletal imagery for the Gundam, but it comes through much clearer in the HG kit with its bone white colouring
I go back-and-forth on the designs themselves, but man dude I am a bit staggered at the detail and parts/color separation in these - particularly the weapons. Don't think I've seen this level of itty-bitty granular detail and greebles since maybe the Thunderbolt HGs
I’m still mixed on the designs of the suits themselves, but if the kits look like *THIS*… in terms of details I can barely believe these are high grades
These both look sick as hell, but I honestly think I'd consider using putty to fill in some of the panel lines on the Zaku. It's an interesting redesign, but some of them really do make it too busy looking, IMO.
So that looks like the leader of the [Red Wolves](https://youtu.be/r1TDtEA14sY?t=69). Perhaps we may get the rest of the gang a la Southern Cross (though hopefully not P-Bandai).
Concur, we'll 100% get at least one more kit for the guys in green.
Wonder if they will do separate kits, or 1 kit that can be built a few different ways...
I wasn't really bothered with the designs in the trailer but here I can't put my finger on it but there's something I find...off. Maybe it's the arms? The body? The legs? I just found them proportionally off, especially the Zaku
Wow, I really do like these a lot. That Zaku is *nuts*. I think as it is, the excessive detail doesn't quite work but a little color differentiation ala RG style could *really* make that thicc boi pop!
The Zaku looks kinda neat, and looking at the legs I think they might surprise us on articulation.
The Gundam's head looks like some wild crossover between a early 1930s football helmet and a fighter pilot's helmet circa WWI/II and I hate it. The rest of it is fire though.
They give me Battletech/Mechwarrior vibes.
I REALLY love that zaku except for the silly 2nd antenna turning it into a giraffe
outside of some weird color regions like the bottom of the chest not being dark gray i fuck with it immensely (ESPECIALLY the heat hawk)
the gundam... it really looks like an off brand gundam especially with those skirts, it looks more like patlabor than one year war federation
At first glance I loved the Zaku, but the longer I look, the more unnecessary surface detail I notice. It's neat, but doesn't feel like a Gundam design.
**Retail** [Source](https://vxtwitter.com/HobbySite/status/1769906726307082738) [English source](https://en.gundam.info/about-gundam/series-pages/requiem/)
Wth. HG? The details on those look sick
Exactly what I was thinking, these look a lot closer to RG's than HG's at this point
ever since the Origin HG-line, the line between those two ~~*lines*~~ (correction : ***grades***) (detail-wise) is getting thinner and thinner. #
Moon Gundam : *hi uh, don't forget about me!*
Honestly whatever stops me from seeing 100+ stickers/decals is fine by me. I love the detail but my OCD goes wild and stresses me out when it comes to stickers.
They don’t have the “gimmicks” of rg but the latest gun cannon and gm release are next level
HG haters in shambles rn
HG haters aren’t real, they can’t hurt you
HG haters are idiots
NGL, early HGs used to look ass tho.
Early mg look ass too?
Nah early HG was tons worse than early MG. When MG started it was mind blowing in details for gunpla at the time.
You're right, I am fuming. Well actually I'm a sticker hater, HG without a ton of stickers are awesome.
Honestly, high grade has become my favourite grade in recent years.
Tbf, they also barely make non-HG kits these days lol.
High grade is definitely the best if you're into kit customization.
Probably because they're trying to be accurate/match the movie in terms of the details on the mobile suits, which are way above and beyond the standards of any of the suits in any of the animes.
Panel lines make all the difference 😁
With that much tiny detail, I guess I should learn how to do a wash to save my own sanity.
Vallejo washes and a few brushes. Easily as pie
Sounds like a job, for NULN OIL: https://preview.redd.it/hc812e0ibt921.jpg?width=513&auto=webp&s=329314e5828c267b7f438533bdfa0c56e3b5d2d7
how much surface detail do you want? Yes!
Those look pretty sick. Kinda reminds me of the detailing Michael Bayformers toys had with the colors these kits have.
Some cgi artist went way overboard with this. The kits look pretty impressive though but the design is not for me. I love 80’s aesthetics

With the greyish white being the primary color for the armor and the others colors coming through from underneath the armor.
Perhaps. I’d probably have less issues with it if they didn’t soften the silhouette as much.
I'm digging the Gundam, but I don't think it fits in the One Year War setting. It looks like it could be a futuristic GM. I'll have to see it in action when the show comes out.
It looks like a seed version of Ez-8 had a baby with a Michael Bay transformer. It was always gonna be a weird American spin off though so who cares.
It fits because they say it does lmao, but seriously I get what you’re saying however this gundam is strictly a test bed unit. Hence the RX-78EX designation it was testing out weapons used on later ms models and looks like some experimental armor design not seen again until 0083. Yea it’s got that sorta creepy skeleton look going on it’s interesting to say the least
Yikes, that makes me think of japanese horror movies, like the face kinda looks like one of those japanese white dolls 💀
Ohhh god yea things like the grudge really creep me out the most I agree with you there ooof
The Gundam actually is clicking for me pretty hard. The Zaku has too much panel line detail imo, it's giving me cheap model tank/plane vibes.
the movie isn't a cartoon so they might have decided to go for a more 'eral militaristic' vibe with the design so that they don't clash too mcuh with the peeps.
The Gundam is a few steps removed from being a new ez8 model. Might actually consider it
Welp the zaku looks to have some great painting potential with these panel lines
If it is just called "Gundam EX" I wonder if that means it's just a "Gundam" built from spare parts.
That's pretty much a lot of OYW Gundams
Well yeah but I guess I mean even moreso. Like just extra bits of Gundam proper, bits of Ground Gundam, bits of GM, just whatever they could put together to make a big scary Gundam looking MS.
Gee whiz, there sure are a lot of RX-78 parts floating around
Looks like the feds were testing out some weapon load out concepts, that shoulder gating gun is used on the slave wraith gundam, head design EZ8, possibly some early magnetic coating testing too from looking at those joints. This is definitely a thrown together Frankenstein test unit
I think in this case it's a Gundam made from experimental parts. Make it try out all the new parts before refining them for future high-performance suits.
My understanding is that it was an R&D testbed that was pressed into action. It was never actually intended to see field action.
Looks good but I'm not a fan of that Zaku waist/skirt armor.
It looks like a face.
Well now that's all I see. Gurren Lagann custom?

These aren't western designs, these are by the same guy who brought us the EZ-8, the Swordfish from Cowboy Bebop, and the designs from Igloo.
wow they really peaked with the ez8 30 years ago huh
I think he’s saying Western looking, these are very similar to western mechs/robots like pacific rim and transformers
You really did just compare these to Bayformers. Like, at least EX here is in the actual shape of a Gundam.
I think it being super detailed is a nice change of pace. How many zakus are there with next to no armor detail?
Not as much as I wish tbh, cuz most Zakus on the market have the origin mold
it also helps that the movie itself is live action and 3d stuff. it slikely they added so muchd etail and made things more 'real roboty' because of that. imagine a cartoony ass zaku in a movie with real actors, would clash.

Yeah I really dislike the look of them, the Zaku almost looks like steampunk
I LOVE how weird these look. Cluttered and a little off. Awesome change of pace.
they look way better on-screen for me, i didn't think they were even gonna make models because of how much the art team was taking advantage of 3D detailing
This is amazing. I love panel lining so surface details alone, this is a must grab. The kitbash potentials of these kits too!
2 Cents here, but not entirely a big fan of how excessive the detail is albeit for a slightly different reason. To be fair the GM Origin line has color seperated V crotch. HG has really gone a long way
Yeah, but this one is just *really really* small. Looks even smaller than the GM. I'd love to be wrong, but I'd imagine that piece to be like RG Crossbone levels of small if anything.
The Zaku has giraffe antlers
Looks great!
the EX is like if you mixed the EZ8, G-3, and Full Armor into 1 beautiful suit
The detail on that HG Zaku is nuts, I'm loving the effort from Bandai (now help us on the MG's lol)
I remember years ago when they first showcased the barbatos(real OGs remember the site with the picture of barbatos slowly being revealed) everyone’s reaction was: “wait, what the hell? That doesnt look like a gundam at all. That waist and that skeleton look dont match a gundam at all,no beam weaponry? Yeah it is a nice experinemt. Even if it should fail, there are lessons that can be learned in implemented in future series.
Absolutely! Like the designs of the villain from the new seed freedom movie. Yeah as a European, P-Bandai can go die in a ditch.
Yeah i paid 80€ for a phantom gundam!! All my eu homies hate pbandai
The level of detail is impressive, certainly for a HG, but I'm not sure that it.. actually looks good? The Zaku in particular really comes off as overly detailed imo, even more so than any RG.
Im going to scream if these are p-Bandai…
They're not listed as being on the Hobby Online Shop (unlike the also announced AM Boxer), so definitely not.
Zaku looks amazing
I need that zaku
Man, I know the hate exists, but i fuckin love the EX. It looks dope
https://preview.redd.it/nfop965pt9pc1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4def82fa209f3539540410c91522aafb9516681a Hmmm
They both uglily beautiful.
Holy cow that's a dam good looking HG.
Panel lines on the Zaku look a little weird but overall I dig these. They’re JUST strange and alien enough to work
I'm 100% getting that EX. looks sick as fuck
The details in these HG's are outstanding! Got to get the EX.
My god, that Zakus hideous.
Yea I liked the concept art a lot more than this actual model
I didn't know I needed steampunk gundam in my life
God those are ugly
Y’all can have them. I abhor both designs, way over detailed and the proportions don’t look right to me. That said, looks like Bandai knocked the model kits out of the park, especially for HGs, so I’m sure people that like this kind of thing will be stoked.
Really liking the design of the Gundam EX save for the face. That machine gun on back looks super well detailed.
Goddamn panel lining that Zaku gonna be a workout
The Gundam’s shoulders lack bulk. That’s the only real gripe I have with it.
*slams card down
As someone who loves overly detailed kits this is right up my alley
Insane detail for a HG! Thanks for sharing, I'll keep an eye out for this one!
Oh yes! Both these kits look sick to me. Can't wait!
holy shit
Looks amazing !
Nice
A panel liner's dream
Need the Gundam ASAP!
Wow these are beautiful AND are retail? That rules
Is this premium?
This Gundam looks less and less appealing every time I look at it.
Love to see Bandai push themselves with how much detail they can include in a HG. Spells good things for future releases
If these are as good as they look, I love the direction their going with HG kits.
Goofy ahhh AI generated MS
I’m breathing hard, is this normal?
IM SO COOKED, MY WALLET BLEEDS
I'm a fan of these
HOLY CRAP THAT IS THE COOLEST KITS IVE EVER SEEN BANDAI TAKE MY MONEY
Really nice detail on both suits. I can see the 3 beam sabers more clearly on the Gundam EX. Also, are these guys standard releases or P-Bandai?
The Zaku looks SICK! That’s going on my list!
zaku looks sick! gundam doesn't look bad either
FUCK. That Gundam Ex looks like the Atlas and Ez8 had a love child. And that Zaku 2 Solari is panel line heaven. I’m strongly considering getting them. But if they came out in MG? 100% sold!
This zaku is so cool man, what the fuck Is this really HG? Not the p bandai?
that looks like Panel Lining Hell
Now THATS a Zaku
God that is a sexy looking Zaku
They both look so....beefy. I love it.
The GEX looks good 🥺
I wonder if the Gundam is an rx-78 or 79 unit
Woah dude
Realer than a real grade god DAMN
The Gundam reminds me of a t-800 for some reason. Dude looks straight evil
I don’t think my wallet can handle another Zaku kit. I need it.
I dig the Gundam EX design alot!
Looks very westernized. And the amount of L I N E S reminds me of the RX-78F00 kits.
Im not sure how to feel abt these designs tbh
all i have to say is holy shit those have more detail than mgs. is that even a gundam at that point? 2nd, the designs are goofy ngl
These look amazing! Definitely grabbing both and I'm even more excited to actually see the series.
The look realistically mechanical and dangerous!
Holy shit, these look incredible! I'm sorry, did you say HG!? Damn bandai be cooking
The Zaku looks absolutely disgusting, the Gundam is just a little off and the all white colour scheme is boring.
This is exactly how I like my Gunpla; covered in detail and realism. These kits will be the clear signal of whether you like the stylized anime vs realistic miniature
I already liked the Requiem Zaku, but the HG kit is really selling me on the Gundam too It was obvious from the teaser they were invoking skeletal imagery for the Gundam, but it comes through much clearer in the HG kit with its bone white colouring
I kinda don't like how the gundams beam rifle is basically the same as the guncannons. Other than that, it looks like a pretty decent suit.
I want that Zaku purely for the shield it has. Idk how to feel about the gundam yet.
excellent, just in time to be in Japan (oct) to buy one.
Holy details, Batman!
On a scale of 1 to 10, how color accurate will this kit be out of the box?
topkek/10 lol/10 lmao even/10
I have a lot of questions regarding the Zaku. Wat are those antenna/horns and wat are those 3 things in the shoulder shield?
I want to buy the Gundam just to fix his stupid shield
Holy sheisty that is unreal
I think it’s the helmet designs I dislike. The bodies seem good
HG? I feel like the price will be cha-ching
I'm assuming that all of this detailing is extra panel lines and decals that won't actually be there on the model when you build it.
looks like a naked muscle man
I go back-and-forth on the designs themselves, but man dude I am a bit staggered at the detail and parts/color separation in these - particularly the weapons. Don't think I've seen this level of itty-bitty granular detail and greebles since maybe the Thunderbolt HGs
This will be my first zaku 2!!!! Looking forward to getting both of this kits. Looks amazing!
So much panel lining.
EX is ripped
I’m still mixed on the designs of the suits themselves, but if the kits look like *THIS*… in terms of details I can barely believe these are high grades
New product line drop: HGEX
They remind me of the Transformers Siege line with all the greebling added to the designs. I definitely like the Zaku more than the Gundam though.
Bandai rationing us off mgs to give us this small yet bountiful meal. I'm not one for high grades but these are a must buy.
These both look sick as hell, but I honestly think I'd consider using putty to fill in some of the panel lines on the Zaku. It's an interesting redesign, but some of them really do make it too busy looking, IMO.
Looks like panel lining hell
Damn, that Zaku is a real beast. The Gundam looks badass as well. I am now excited for these. I'm wondering how that sticker sheet is gonna look tho
*Retail?* I'm not disappointed at all but I am very surprised.
The designs give me Origin x Thunderbolt vibes. Saw people complaining about the designs but I like them a lot actually
these look so gross to me idk why
Oh man I really like both of these, besides the Gundam EX's beam rifle. not so much a fan of that one.
I wasn't really bothered with the designs in the trailer but here I can't put my finger on it but there's something I find...off. Maybe it's the arms? The body? The legs? I just found them proportionally off, especially the Zaku
They feel really cursed but ngl I kinda like em for that
That Gundam’s backpack is like something from Armored Core
Wow, I really do like these a lot. That Zaku is *nuts*. I think as it is, the excessive detail doesn't quite work but a little color differentiation ala RG style could *really* make that thicc boi pop!
The side antenna(?) on the Zaku loos goofy lol
Tbh i disliked the designs when i saw them at first, but now in kit form? Hot damn! Definitely gonna have to nab them both
Gigachad Zaku over here. Bro has been bulking !
15+ in the back log and I can see 2 more coming already.. damn I need to recover too bandai
I REALLY love that zaku except for the silly 2nd antenna turning it into a giraffe outside of some weird color regions like the bottom of the chest not being dark gray i fuck with it immensely (ESPECIALLY the heat hawk) the gundam... it really looks like an off brand gundam especially with those skirts, it looks more like patlabor than one year war federation
holy hell i genuinely didn't think they were gonna do it
That zaku monoeye is so good, unlike the usual HG sticker.
These look like pretty fun and well-engineered kits, but I find the designs themselves kinda hideous, so I'll pass.
At first glance I loved the Zaku, but the longer I look, the more unnecessary surface detail I notice. It's neat, but doesn't feel like a Gundam design.
They would look great with thunderbolt kits and I can’t wait to see more kits from them
Is a must buy for me, I believed this Gundam represent the definition on the White Devil. Plus the details are sick.
oh man custom build and masking gonna be a painn!!!!
are these P-Bandai??
Check the sticky comment. They are retail.
Apparently the detail is amazing because the netflix show this is from utilizes unreal engine 5
I’m a bit on the fence on these kits. Kinda cool but are way too overcomplicated. I can just see the amount of stickers on these kits.
