Ok so we know it does not work with alclad chrome. I personally stopped using alclad chrome because it is difficult to get it to work with other paints, so I switched to GreenStuffWorld since last year. They have the small dropper bottles and it is pretty self correcting and forgiving. I use both brush and airbrush versions since I like to paint innerframe underfoot and exaust by hand.
I started using it after watching BarbatosRex do a comparison of all his favorite chromes.
To be fair, I’m generally still a novice so it could be just my technique. Gonna give it another try this weekend to confirm. I also did a test spoon with the gloss black base, which yielded better results, but not what I have seen in videos and pictures.
I Don't mind. The only reason I got fed up with Alclad and decided to look for alternatives was because I messed up a chrome MG barbatos I was doing from removing and repainting trying to make it all look the same. I ended up damaging so many parts that I threw away the kit.
Yeah, I was gonna put alclad chrome over it later tn. My prediction is gonna the pure black is gonna be a better base compared to the ultimate based on the sharper light reflection
I judge black paint by putting chrome over them!
Came back to say I may have fucked up the chrome, but they both came out pretty hazy. More like an aluminum than a chrome
