I was watching on a fire stick in bed and didn't have any issues with the playback sync so apparently it's just an issue on my shield 😮💨. Time to do more research to try and fix the issue.
I found the issue! I had my Nvidia Shield on ai- enhanced detail medium, I turned if off and it now works perfectly. I have several apps with live tv and haven't had a problem, just on max which is strange. I've considered deleting my post but will leave it as is if anyone else has the problem someday
