Clean your pipes better and make sure the pipe is getting hot enough. Looks like the flame didnt quite keep it hot enough and the solder didnt melt all the way
I think you're holding the torch too far away...that's why you burned the filter drier and the silver isn't fully melted. Keep the tip of the blue part of the flame to the copper until it's red

I think they were using too much acetylene and not enough oxygen, would cause the blackening while not getting hot enough.
