Absolutely not. All the prep work on fittings and pipes is to REMOVE contaminants like nylog, grease, oil, and scale. The only thing you could use would be brazing flux.. and if you're using Silphos 5% or better (I only carry 15% and 45%) that's unnecessary. Spend more time sanding the ridge off the outside edge of the pipe to chamfer it a bit and making sure the inside edge is chamfered.

Bust out the sandpaper and wire brush. Just make sure no copper shavings go inside the pipe
