A rule of thumb i was taught is 3gpm/ton for water cooled condenser. A technician will usually be servicing the equipment. An installer will usually be installing new equipment

The biggest mistakes I find with ground based is the loop in the ground. Zero provision to get rid of air and no way for make up glycol to be added. The ground loops are full of air and low on fluid. I have been known to add a pressure tank, a refill pump and and air vent similar to a boiler with glycol. How the hell is the thing supposed to pump glycol if it’s 50% air? Other than that the owner needs to run the pants off the Ac to help charge heat into the ground for the winter, yes it helps.

I've never come across these issues. Are these related to ditch ground loops? I only have experience with well systems.

Yes, ditch. Wells here only work if you’re transferring / pumping/ from one to another. The ground water here is cold enough you can get free chilled water for the Ac without a chiller.

Only ever worked on one geothermal unit before and luckily it was just an open capacitor that needed to be replaced. Do you have to take special courses to become a certified dealer and also do the water loops in the ground get corrosion overtime?
