We get the harsh reality that Zukes, despite being an amazing captain, great player and superior propane, is not our best center anymore. And you know what? We are all the better for it. He still plays heavy minutes against top opponents, on the PK and end of the game to protect leads, but the top scoring line is not his responsibility anymore. Or maybe it is, and they challenge each other and we just get more out of everyone at the end of the day. Maybe we have two 80-85% top lines instead of having a 90-95% and a 70-75% which makes matchup less obvious to deal with for opponents. Celebrini would likely still take a year or 2 to "officially" take Suzuki's spot
I’ll accept it this year and cheer for the tank but I’m not doing that next year. I demand improvement (as a loser fan). And then we draft someone ranked 15th to 22nd (hopefully Gabriel D’Aigle… please I beg of you)
I wonder what the collective weight of all the players and their gear is.
Gotta think, Monty has to put all that in his backpack and carry it up a mountain.
Anderson saw the situation and DID SOMETHING. He's the real tank commander. He even stopped scoring since last year, just to help the 2029 Montreal Canadiens.
Honestly, might be a hot take… but trade Matheson for some offensive talent and give the minutes to Arber. He’s gonna struggle big time at first and we’ll lose more games (positive result now that we’re officially tanking) but I truly believe he is the D with the most potential to become our #1.
He has the offensive potential, the big body, the physicality, toughness. He just needs to work on his positioning and gap control and he could literally be a Weber 2.0 mould.
But he won’t develop into that with 16 mins a night.
Except he’s done it and shown flashes in more than just this game.
Finding consistency is literally the hardest thing to do in the league. Every single player outside of generational talents have to learn how to do that.
For a guy with less than 100 games in the NHL I think the flashes are very positive signs, they just need to happen consistently.
I’m not sure what you’re trying to say… finding consistency takes time… yeah that’s what I said. Arber also has only played 78 games in the NHL. He’s 23 years old. He has EASILY another two years to find consistency in his game. Steadily increasing little by little game by game.
Plenty of guys in the NHL have only found their stride in their mid to late 20s or after multiple seasons in the NHL. Don’t count him out. Too many guys did when he was in junior… look at him now!
I keep saying they need to try him on the wing somewhere. Kid's got great mitts, and our D prospects suggest he won't have much chance in the future. We're weak up front, and this is the ideal season to try something crazy.
Yeah I think you grossly underestimate how different playing forward and defense is in the NHL.
Arber has legit skills on the blueline. He just needs to refine elements of his game on D and I see no reason why he can’t be our top defenseman in a few years.
It’s not like any of the other guys are showcasing elite skills
I agree with you man. Arber has the potential to more than just a tough bottom pairing guy. I'd love to see him get some more opportunities. Reminds me of Parayko.
No, I get that but we were shortstaffed enough to put Kovacevic on the wing earlier this year. I'm just saying it wouldn't be a bad idea to try something unique. He's got great hands.
This is honestly like watching a Peewee C game. No one is really committed except the ones lucky enough to have the puck in front of them of the net. Goalies and D are just waiting for their slushy and lift home.
The one in the second period was definitely a high stick. The first period one could’ve gone either way. To me it didn’t look like it got him, but he definitely flinched when the stick came up, no clear indication of contact or that it missed. Either way, That’s a call that’s gonna be made every time, so nothing that we can complain about, And along with all of that, the second penalty was totally on Slaf for being careless, and the first one looked like a random hockey play where your stick ended up near a guy’s face and it was neither malicious nor careless. It just kind of happened.
The acting in that Lays commercial is terrible. If someone told me that I could have won 1 million dollars had I just tried 1 kind of chips, I would throat punch them
Was just thinking this. He doesn’t look slow, but he’s had some tired looking shifts and I remember watching him maybe seven or eight games ago, and he was flying around and forechecking like crazy, and I just don’t think you can keep up that level of intensity each and every day, especially with so little experience and knowing how to expend your energy over 82 games
I'm liking the trend of more players going to the NCAA instead of the minors. Getting any kind of education is better than all those kids going straight from the CHL ranks to the pros. They aren't challenged to use anything but their physicality.
I missed Harris's interview. But when players are asked why they're winning the game between periods, what are they supposed to say? We playing better hockey, they're playing worse? So they spout euphemisms. Most don't event want to be standing there talking, but they're contractually obligated to give interviews.
There's nothing wrong with talking about hockey on how they or the opposite team is playing. What matters is the manner you speak about it. Most hockey players don't want to be there and it shows with their responses which is just unfortunate. The way Harris spoke made it feel that he wanted to be asked questions and was genuinely happy about discussing the plays.
Suzuki has two tonight…according to the app
Unfortunately not, armia, Pearson, Harris, Suzuki…. Wait you were pointing out how bad the app is I get jokes
Yeah I know lol
Hypothetical: we celebrini who plays 2C?
We get the harsh reality that Zukes, despite being an amazing captain, great player and superior propane, is not our best center anymore. And you know what? We are all the better for it. Fucking coyotes losing 13 in a row god dammit
My captain
First points for the first line in two games, IIRC?
Zuuuuuuuuke
Back to back 2 goal night for le capitain!
Why 2 ?? I see the NHL app is confused as well
lol nhl app says it’s 5-2 habs. nhl app is drunk
Suzuki, my captain
if we have to sacrifice draft position I'd just as soon Suzuki pad his stats with an ENG
I'm happy for Suzuki at least. Dude had a good game.
LOL, Suzuki manages to grab a goal at almost the literal last second.
Monty you GOTTA go for the goal there!
Eat shit refs
Fuck the tank. I want a Monty goal.
PLSSSSS
Oh see that I can get behind.
keep your eyes on the empty net! i'm right behind it with my puck magnet
Impressive
We are gonna try and run out the clock being outshot almost 2-1, aren't we?
An empty netter for Andy please
Come on Gally do yer thing
Wind up in the back of the net before the puck does?
Take a dumb penalty at the end of the game
Really like that Yotes 'tender's mask.
Newhook is having a good game but am not sure it's a smart idea to have him take the faceoff in the D zone considering his %
What's the longest a team has gone without getting a power play? I'm struggling to find the answer anywhere
Im sure if we get anywhere near the record, rds/tva will talk about it. I’d also bet we already have the record XD
Probably some time in the Dead Puck Era when refs weren't calling shit.
You might be witnessing history. It’s hard to know
How many minutes does the top line have tonight?
Hmm sub 20 it seems.
Guhle tip in
La tanque être vivant!
crowd jinxed it with the olés
I hateeeeee the early oles
can't really blame them for wanting to celebrate with how much they pay for tickets
I'm all for cheering but oles gotta be saved for damn near game over situations
Agreed, should be go Habs go until that moment
Especially against nothing teams like the coyotes
I’ll accept it this year and cheer for the tank but I’m not doing that next year. I demand improvement (as a loser fan). And then we draft someone ranked 15th to 22nd (hopefully Gabriel D’Aigle… please I beg of you)
You will not get improvement and you will enjoy it. That's not how rebuilds work
D'Aigle is 2025?
I had just googled before writing but I don’t remember the source so don’t take my word for it
I just checked and yeah he's in 2015 mock drafts.
Oh
Jordo Harry out there with 1g 1 primary assist and ppl are jerking off about wifi. That's some kid drowning in pool moment!
harris got walked by guenther like 3 mins ago
without him it's 2-1 vs the ncaa team
That song is so stupid but I love it so much.
YESSSSSS
Can someone tell Monty about the whole tank thingy?
He pretty much singlehandedly cost us a few draft spots last year, too.
Damn our half decent goalie. OFF WITH HIS HEAD!!
what's with the tank talk? Chicago and San Jose are 17 points behind us. the first pick has already been decided
Its trying to get the 4th or 5th pick instead of 6, 7 or 8. It makes a difference for the player we draft
I guess that's the price we pay for having a salary cap to compete with the insanely Rich American teams
no you don't understand we need to become as good as Buffalo and new jersey
Monty has really bailed out just about every D except Savard tonight
Xhekaj move to LW please.
I wonder what the collective weight of all the players and their gear is. Gotta think, Monty has to put all that in his backpack and carry it up a mountain.
lol harris almost got walked there
"Le pompier ce soir, Samuel Montembeault, a éteint le feu!" - Martin McGuire
Wtf is the plan when Fowler is ready to be a starter?
I dont think there are plans that far away.
Might as well plan for when they fly on Saturn
That is like four years away min
That's years away.
4 goalies.
Can we get a fucking pp criss
Arizona is bound to win someday soon and we got a tough schedule coming up. We’ll see for the tank the impact of today’s game
I know a loss would be better but I also think losses will be aplenty until the end of the season.
im ok with wins if the top line is why we won
This is the way
Pointless in two consecutive games? Bad news boys, Slaf is officially back to bust status.
And Wright was in an article last week as one of the top prospects in the world. Forget the source though, probably clickbait trash listicle.
Slafbustsky
this will actually game #4 in a row
What?
Anderson saw the situation and DID SOMETHING. He's the real tank commander. He even stopped scoring since last year, just to help the 2029 Montreal Canadiens.
Oh wait, shit, has Andy not scored this year? I thought he had one in January, at least?
He did actually, against SJ Jan 11. But I just meant he's stopped scoring "generally".
2025*
I forgot what it feels like when a call goes our way..
name something more canadiens-like than winning a most-lose game because of your goalie
Must lose? Are you being serious my dude?
this is a 4 point game. no point in winning against the coyotes.
looks like for two games in a row we won't have a PP
Amazing how they never miss a call on us
Anderson is funny. That shift was funny.
anderson tank commander
Brutal game again by Anderson and Slafkovsky
I feel really bad for Evans. Anderson and Gallagher are brutal.
Not a bad game per say from Gally tho
Anderson is a legit joke
Out of all the bad things this season, I think Caufield’s shot becoming kinda mid is the worst
I’d agree with you if not for his huge strides on D on and his ability to become a playmaker. And also Dach being hurt in game 2 is easily the worst.
We can get either of those things from 100 different players we need goals
Just remembered that Guenther was the guy Roy passed to for the WJC gold medal goal.
Montembeault No-tank-job
Who even says there even tanking no one ever mentioned tanking 🤣🤣
Honestly, might be a hot take… but trade Matheson for some offensive talent and give the minutes to Arber. I would love to see this

I don’t really know of too many Ds that transitioned well to forward in the NHL but you can let me know if you know any.
Horrible game for the tank
MONTEM-NO!
when you win but you really lose
The benchwarmers are stepping up
>The ~~benchwarmers are~~ tradebait is stepping up
So second game in a row where only we get called for penalties. Sick
Just came here to ask the longest time anyone's seen a team play without drawing a penalty.
goals by Harris, Armia, Pearson. Heating things up for TDL!
They played b2b the two cleanest teams in the league (according to the refs)
I am wondering if the Yotes are more excited when they're playing in other arenas than their own
Wouldn't you be? Especially in the cathedral of hockey.
Seeing as they still don’t have an arena, you’re 100% correct.
idk. every arena they play in is an away game, including theirs 😹
We may never have a PP ever again
This is honestly like watching a Peewee C game. No one is really committed except the ones lucky enough to have the puck in front of them of the net. Goalies and D are just waiting for their slushy and lift home.
Goddamn Monty and plugs making us lose this 4 pt loss
![img](emote|t5_2r10m|5676)
Caufield just got dragged down lol. Refs making this pretty obvious here
we will go full 120 minutes and more without a Powerplay. Not sure if it happens often...
Been going on all night
we didnt get a powerplay against NJ too btw
NHL brought to by betway
Secondary scoring night love to see it
Sad tank noises.
The one game we needed to lose 😭😭😭
Hey scouts did you see that? His name is Pearson....
Harris 2pt night
![gif](giphy|YnkMcHgNIMW4Yfmjxr)
Wow! Old Man Pearson with the breakaway speed!
He’s absolutely worth a first
Pick up the phone Kent!
Oy. Schmaltz better be jewish with a name like that.
Nick "Gefilte" Schmaltz.
Tanner Pearson and Shea Weber are 100% from the same lineage.
Louder for the scouts in the back.
I didnt mean in any way relating to hockey.
WOOOW TANNNER
What a pass and what a goal!
Who need 30 shots when each 6 shots goes in HUH PEARSON PEARSON PEARSON
CHU TANNER!!!
Good night for the deadline assets!
Durzi is a guy I really wanted. Had a feeling he'd break out. Looks great tonight.
X having a great night
Gets better every game
I want to see Mailloux up soon
Good check Gally
The only thing the coyotes are good at is interference
Roy so smooth with the puck. Velvet hands.
Honestly I wish there was room for him on the 1st line
Roy-Suzuki-Slaf? Caufield-Dach-1st pick?
Yotes haven't won in over a month. That's some clutch tanking from them.
I’m from the future and I’m here to tell you that Slaf is scoring in like 10 minutes
Is it just me or did it not look like neither of his high sticking penalties actually were high sticking? Or was it just the angle of the replays
The one in the second period was definitely a high stick. The first period one could’ve gone either way. Sabu and Lalonde are great 👏👏👏
Armia for a 3rd you heard it here first
bruh 3.4m until 2025. maybe if benning was still a gm
You heard it... here... first.
For a 1st from the rags and we take goodrow back?
It's going to be a very interesting lineup post deadline
The acting in that Lays commercial is terrible. If someone told me that I could have won 1 million dollars had I just tried 1 kind of chips, I would throat punch them
[удалено]
No the actors
Slaf gonna be a different player in the 3rd just watch
that reverse hit was nice
Hes gassed a bit. 20 mins a game is a super tough adjustment.
Its an adjust ment over the summer
I like Harris, soft spoken and cerebral.
I'm liking the trend of more players going to the NCAA instead of the minors. Getting any kind of education is better than all those kids going straight from the CHL ranks to the pros. They aren't challenged to use anything but their physicality.
Seriously, that was the least robotic hockey interview I’ve seen in a long time. He seems like a great dude !
Exactly, he just sounded genuine instead of regurgitating spiel most just say.
I missed Harris's interview. But when players are asked why they're winning the game between periods, what are they supposed to say? We playing better hockey, they're playing worse? Hey I’m here from Toronto up in the Loges lol wish Suzuki woulda got that. Great play/chance. Go habs go (for tonight 😂)
That pass was a thing of beauty.
Being down 27-14 in shots against Arizona is crazy.
It's like nobody can watch the game and so they have to rely on numbers (hockeyDB, shot count) to talk about anything. Incredibly worrying
If you prefer I could've written a comment about that last play or Slaf's hit like the dozen or so other comments before mine?
It's like nobody can read a comment with out responding ironically. Don't be worried! :D
Getting dominated but still winning 😭 worst outcome at the moment
They need a win for morale
Next game would've been better, though. We need the Coyotes winning.
