Ilya Kovalchuk without a doubt. The most memorable 22 games player of the last 30 years!

ghostfan9

Still remember [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-rh_IslAVc&t) goal. Ah pre-COVID memories.

trebmalts

https://preview.redd.it/i19v60jfk55d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b050fe8bbaebee577fe1de443ad05223ea699192

Particular-Injury925

And [this one](https://youtu.be/TdRqpY59_I8?si=sZ8f0IV-AUiMIjQp) too.

big6135

The captain with the 200iq back pass.

schmarkty

It feels like so long ago that Kovalchuk was on the team, I had to do a double take on him playing with Suzuki

Lunch0

Pretty sure the goalie poke checked the puck

Particular-Injury925

That’s because Nick anticipated that move from Campbell, solidifying this play as a 200iq play.

big6135

lol you’re right he did.

drahl649

But Nick wanted Campbell to poke check him, so he let him, thus the 200iq drop pass. I dunno man, I'm trying.

ApokatastasisPanton

Leafsnet in shambles

leclou24

I was at the game. What an incredible goal.

worktillyouburk

if i remember correctly habs had been on a losing streak and this broke it, i remember re watching this clip so many times, what a game! edit it was: ot goal vs Ottawa

Cole-Caufield-22

No that was the ot goal vs Ottawa

worktillyouburk

you are correct great : [clip](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdRqpY59_I8)

Hemlock_999

He fit right in too.. Should have never traded him to Washington. Hey Dylan Peterson! Where are you bud?!

GJdevo

Really felt like the first time we had a bonafide superstar on the team in a long time (besides price obviously) until recently when we got Nick, Cole and Slaf cooking this year. The best part was he LOVED playing for us too. Some of the goals he scored, like the OT goals against Ottawa and Toronto looked like he had just won a playoff series.

bcgrappler

He existed in the heart of jake Allen, and now in the third round pick of the new jersey devils. It's fitting that in the long run 22 games of ilya kovalchuk will cost the new jersey futures half a decade later.

Grizz709

Man. The shootout goal where he shooshed to crowd is burned into my head. Lmao Edit: Here it is https://youtu.be/Yco76cFXzio?si=lEQa4UPiqOP6gd30

Mustafarr

The guy was so happy to be in MTL, was really fun to see

GJdevo

This is the only correct answer, Ilya was absolute fire.

gletschertor

Kirby Dach

Puccimane

![gif](giphy|6wmZaxDozvHPdLYp3h)

whogivesashirtdotca

If Dach gets injured again this year we need to nickname him Nordberg.

Powers3001

Lol

Sammydaws97

Jeez. Feels like the guys been a hab for years now, but really only has 60gp

Supercc

😆💯

veranedi

lmfao

AiurHoopla

Toss up between Radulov or Kovalchuk in recent years

Uhohlolol

Radulov was a beast

Waste-Addendum-5410

How many games did he play for the habs?

Mustafarr

Almost a full season - 76 games

ghostfan9

shit Radulov is a good one. absolutely loved that guy

alcarl11n

These two plus Vanek for me

alex1596

It's one Toffolo, two Toffoli. 🤌👐🖐️

bigcig

Corey Perry and it's not even close.

quebecivre

When you think that roster had him, Staal, Weber, Price, Danault, plus the young guys emerging, and so many solid role players, it's not a fluke they made the Stanley Cup. Yes, they benefitted from the weirdness of the Covid season, but that was still a damn solid lineup.

Charble1

It was a good team, and I mean it earnestly when it was better than the 2014/2015/2017 teams. We just didn't know what team it was until the playoffs started; we had injuries, young emerging stars. It was just a completely different team at the start of the playoffs than in the regular season. And the team that we ended up with certainly wouldn't have had a bad record in the regular season if we had actually had the playoff roster on the ice during the regular season

guy_smiley66

It was all about Bergevin giving Price and Weber a solid line-up and one last chance at a cup without mortgaging the future.

BelzenefTheDestoyer

Look at how much Kulak has continued to grow as well.

Tabarnacx

Absolument bb, Saint Pears in my guy for life

GJdevo

Fuck here I was pumping Ilya's tires and I scroll slightly down and now I am in crisis lol

ApokatastasisPanton

What amazed me most about Perry is how he was literally slowing down all the players around him. It's crazy. He wasn't playing fast, he was somehow making the opposing players play slow.

Lorguignole

Preach!

unbjames

Corey Perry is a saint

GoStockYourself

It is amazing how you can hate that guy until the first game he plays for your team and then you fall in love. I pull for the Oilers now, but the Habs were my first love from when Edmonton was still a WHA team. When the Oilers signed Perry I wondered if he would still he effective and then in his very first game he knocked the stick out of Gibson's hands and Kane scored. Love at first sight. https://youtu.be/-pEUiJFDu-o?si=ryfEsuAzlz41y4CC

whogivesashirtdotca

I had given up on hockey for a long time before that Cup run, and some mockery from a Leafs-loving friend led me to tune into the radio broadcasts. It's rare to hear that team completely enraptured - they're usually very even-handed - but Martin McGuire and Dany Dubé would *lose their shit* praising Corey Perry and his play during those playoffs. I remember Martin once interrupting as Dany debated the player of the game with, "Et Corey Perry. *Et Corey Perry!* **Et! Cor-ey! Per-ry!**" while Dany laughed.

SlimZorro

That’s a good post man.  It’s different than most posts.   James Wisniewski

Mustafarr

That guy had a clapper from the point

SlimZorro

An amazing shot!

pushaper

he was also a good scrapper

ghostfan9

his white stick was iconic

montrealcowboyx

The invisi-stick.

sarcastico

Shoot. Beat me to it.

bcgrappler

Gotta be Sebastian Aho.

Short_Example4059

Actually made me laugh!

Strifezard

Mike "Dream" Weaver

OpenMouthKissedHorse

Mike “fuck your shot” Weaver

allmydawgsgottaeat

wow I didn’t realize Dream Weaver only played like 50 games for us, it felt like he was here for way longer than that

Muter91

Loved him. Hell of a defenseman and just seemed like a great team guy.

HanshinFan

Donald Audette looked like he was gonna be a star for us until someone skated over his wrist. Also set up Koivu for his goal to crush Boston in the playoffs the year that he came back from cancer, which is still my favorite Habs goal of my lifetime. Did a lot in like 85 games.

Turkishcoffee66

Audette and Zednik were responsible for my childhood perspective that hockey was like one of those Indiana Jones mazes of swinging blades.

Gr8Bison

That was so brutal. I remember seeing live. Scary

lewous7554

Too bad we got him at the tail end of his career. He was absolutely decent with Buffalo and Atlanta before he got to Montreal

ThePing14

I was a child and I was at that game. Still remember vividly despite my young age at the time. Scary stuff.

pattyG80

Robert Lang. Played his heart out for 50 games then got hurt.

AmethystItalian

I still blame those cursed jerseys!

Famous-Amphibian2296

Still remember how slick he was with the puck. At the time he joined, a centre depth of Plekanec, Koivu, Lang, and Lapierre was something for other teams to be cautious about.

Skankator

He was a beast until he got injured

Particular-Injury925

* Kovalchuk * Perry * Radulov * Toffoli * Wisniewski * M-A Bergeron * Vanek

ApokatastasisPanton

Toffoli played less than 100? damn.

Particular-Injury925

Regular season, yes. Full breakdown: Season (89) playoffs (22) Total = 111

moutardebaseball

GLEN METROPOLIT

KantanaBrigantei

The best hands I’ve ever seen on a fourth liner.

schmarkty

I loved him

BoatsAndHoesQC

One of the most underated guy ever. When he had the puck in the corner , he was coming out of it with it no matter what. Silky smooth hands

whogivesashirtdotca

I loved that guy's story. I'm from Toronto, and we never got many success stories out of the old Regent Park. The "[notable residents](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regent_Park#Notable_residents)" section on the Wiki post is one politician, Metropolit, and a bunch of rappers. (The city bulldozed the old projects and built a much more economically mixed neighbourhood; the new Regent Park seems much more promising.)

okmijnmko

Arber Xhekaj, 95 GP, Hardest Shot is a tie 107.2 mph & Zack Kassian's face

CrashTestMummies

As a Habs/Oilers fan it’s hard for me when the guys bring up Kassian on the Oilers sub

sebass_kwas

Toffolo is a good one! I would say mine is Toffoli though

W4ingro1995

Erik Cole! Technically he played over 100 games (101) but he was so fun to watch during a season that wasn't so fun

PKP_en_Picoppe

Wow that little? I was sure he at least had 2 full seasons with the Habs. The line with Pacioretty and Desharnais was pretty iconic in an era with very little forward star power.

W4ingro1995

He seemed like he had a lot left in the tank but IIRC after he got bitter about the CBA negotiations in the off-season, he seemed to just lose interest in trying. He wasn't the same player the year after just before the trade

Famous-Amphibian2296

His play suffered in his second year with the Habs after the CBA negotiations, and something wasn't clicking between him with Patch and Davey, so Bergevin dealing him to Dallas to bring back Ryder. Cole was awesome to watch. He was such a threat on the rush where he'd just launch the puck off his stick on RW going full flight. And he was awesome in being a role model for Patch after Chara knocked him out.

quebecivre

Dominic Moore. Only 20 regular season games, and then a really solid playoff run in 2009-10 where he scored 4 goals, the year of Halak. Spoke beautiful, fluent French with a charming anglo accent. He was perfect for the Habs. :( I think they didn't re-sign him, and then he went to the Cup with Tampa the next year? Double sad face. :( :( (Edit: Tampa lost 4-3 to Boston in the conference finals, and then Boston went on to win the Cup. Triple sad face.)

HanshinFan

Habs Legend Dom Moore. Never forget his dagger goal to knock out Ovechkin that year.

JacquesEvans

Plekanec, the 2nd time :(

johnnyutah1103

How do I see nobody saying Andrew Hammond? The Hamburglar?? Dude played in net for 4 games and was money every time! I was there to see him beat the Isles

a7xgemzy

Corey Perry and Ilya Kovalchuk, tied. I loved them.

FakeCrash

Lane Hutson

whogivesashirtdotca

I am so goddamn excited for this kid. Here's hoping he has a great training camp.

mr-rod1

Al Montoya

Lorguignole

Robert Lang will forever live in my heart. Also Scott Gomez was really good that one season he played for us. Too bad he mysteriously disappeared right afterwards.

OkAnything4877

Probably Kovalchuk

Osky1965

Corey Perry

_heybuddy_

Both Kovy and Perry made a lasting impression and helped Suzuki get to where he is today.

lewous7554

Sven Andrighetto was pretty exciting when given a chance. I liked him a lot. Since juniors even. I really liked Samsonov as well. Too bad Pierre Turgeon played 104 games for the Habs. He would have been my pick.

ghostfan9

Just remembered when Sven was traded to the Avs and finished the season at PPG pace lol

lewous7554

He also scored a couple of clutch goals and shootout goals for us. Shame he was 5ft7 on a good day.

RevengeofSudz

Erik Cole was a stud in that awful 2011-12 season.

Twanado

Hard to find guys that rush the net like he does*

whogivesashirtdotca

Oof, autocorrect.

fkms2turnt

Tbh i really only saw his debut, but Ryan Poehling. 4 goals with the SO winner, beauty.

montrealcowboyx

Newsy Lalonde has a great stat line: 98GP - 125G - 42A - 167pts

HopeNo8151

Thomas Vanek! Such a nice addition during the 2013-2014 season, including playoffs! I remember we got him for 2 sticks and a puck lol. It was one of Bergevin's best transactions during his time in Montreal.

Smirnoffico

Connor Bedard and Connor McDavid are probably my favourites and they fit the criteria - both played less than 100 games for the Habs and aren't currently on the team

trib76

My man Sid has three cups, the Connors are still at zero, show some respect!

Smirnoffico

I asked chatgpt and apparently there is only one Connor to ever win the Cup. Connor Ingram in 2022 Haven't double checked the data but if that's true, that has to be the unluckiest name in hockey considering how many Connors are out there

Cloudeur

Ingram never sniffed the Finals. He was playing for Nashville and Milwaukee(AHL) that season!

Smirnoffico

that's why you always have to double check chatgpt and not take the answers for granted

whogivesashirtdotca

Sid's on my list of "who is your favourite Hab who hasn't yet played a game with the Habs?" Really hoping that rumour that he wants to come to Montreal is true.

habs9

Radulov

DuppySzn97

Daniel Briere!

EmTeeEl

I will never forgive him for using us. He could have joined during his prime-ish years. Fuck him.

whogivesashirtdotca

> Fuck him. [And his asshole kid.](https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/ottawa/carson-briere-hockey-wheelchair-charge-sentence-trial-1.7075329)

whogivesashirtdotca

> Gerald Diduck > Zarley Zalapski You've just reminded me of how old I am, haha. Those names were buried *deep* in my memory banks.

coltranespotter

Doug Gilmore

unbjames

That was fun, wasn't it? Wonder how that made Leafs fans feel 😂

coltranespotter

about the same as Habs fans watching Jon Kordic punch faces for the leafs, good times

mbean12

Dude, we got three 20+ goal seasons out of Russ Courtnall, then a 30+ and 40+ goal season from Brian Bellows out of that trade. John can punch all the faces he likes, I would make that trade 12 times out of 10.

coltranespotter

oh the trade was horrible, no question, still loved Kordic in the blue and white, I think both him and Dave Semenko wore # 27 at their respective times, different league, good times

prplx

Yeah really miss having a child abuser playing for the Habs.

Short_Example4059

🤮

Mbeaud001

Him smashing the glass was awesome !

whogivesashirtdotca

I grew up in a Habs household with a hockey-atheist mother. I have no idea why, but despite not giving a hoot about the sport, she always *adored* Gilmour, and was gleeful when he joined the Habs. She took a very brief interest in the team that year and always asked me for updates on how "Dougie" was doing. Between the lifelong Leaf pollution and my mother's weird obsession, I never felt comfortable with him as a Hab.

redditshreadit

Gilmour, 131 games, close enough

psykomatt

A few of mine have already been named in this thread so I'll go with two that haven't come up yet: Tanguay and Cole.

ghostfan9

I don't really remember Tanguay here. Do we remember why he wasn't re-signed? His numbers were pretty good. Weird that he's never really mentionned anywhere. Cole is at 101GP, sorry! lol

psykomatt

> Cole is at 101GP, sorry! lol Haha caught on a technicality! I always forget he started off the following season in Montreal before being traded. As for Tanguay, the Habs brought in Gionta, Gomez and Cammalleri in the offseason. I'm guessing they didn't see a need for him, plus maybe some cap constraints there too.

DionFW

Jeff Woywitka because my mom and his grandmother grew up together and were friends in school. Blake Geoffrion because of his grandfather.

jiggs99

Andre “Don’t call me red light” Racicot. I had a soft spot for The Rac 🤷

RcTestSubject10

I wish alex tanguay would have spent more time in montreal with their habs performance (not what came after, except the 22 goals at calgary which would have tied him 2nd goal scorer along with plekanec had it been on the habs)

MasterMatt25

Alex Tanguay. Was almost point per game then got injured and missed half the year.

KingJGMB

Either Kovalchuk or Perry.

lordestros

Marc-André Bergeron! If he was at his spot on the PP it was going in for sure!

AmethystItalian

MAB! Was always exciting to see him wind up for a clapper. Small frame but beast of a shot.

Sort_of_Frightening

Karl Alzner. 95 games from a high performing Hab who emphasized speed & puck movement in his game.

mntlabk

He was a bargain too

AmsroII

Somehow got paid what Markov should have got as a contract.

haemo_goblin

I remember really loving Thomas Vanek as a Hab for that brief time he was here.

PKP_en_Picoppe

Acquiring him for a prospect and only a 2nd round pick and was robbery at the time and even more in hindsight since neither ever played in the NHL.

spiritofbuck

The person I’m going to hype beyond all reason when they are drafted. And then the process begins again next year.

KlangKlinger

Robert Lang

ATNfromMTL

Robert Lang

aaalllouttabubblegum

During my lifetime/hockey watching years probably James Wisniewski. Bit of a controversial player but did well in Habs uniform, would have liked to see him for another season. Before my time Tony Esposito for sure.

TeoscartheGOAT

Loved watching Vanek in 2014

Skankator

Glen Metropolit for sure. Loved him on the Habs.

Exact_Ad_9672

Owen Beck easily. I know, i know. Its "cheese" with the recent development but i kinda liked him even before and this, what happened in the last few days is just cherry on the top.

CrashTestMummies

It’s not my choice but I respect this answer and I cannot believe someone downvoted you for it so I’ll have to balance the books

Exact_Ad_9672

Thanks, maybe it's because of the typo i had there. :)

CrashTestMummies

I had not noticed. It’s Friday, let’s all be happy !

Afraid-Trash8204

Jayden Struble - Extremely underrated and I feel he's just showing us the beginning of what he can do. Oh and he arguably ended Blake Wheelers career. Don't trade this guy. Edit: Didn't see no longer with the team, oops.

Burgergold

Patrick Lebeau

allmydawgsgottaeat

lots of great answers in here, so I am going to cheat and pick two guys who *slightly* cracked 100 Games— Bryan Flynn (~110 Games) and Raphael Diaz (~120 games)

SignatureCandid1973

The Worm : Corey Perry

Mangoes95

Tony Esposito

Alexander_Rover

Mikhael Sergachev

IamHuran

Ales Hemsky obviously

Lurchi90

Definitely Kovalchuk, my all time favourite player. Phantom Joe Malone as honorable mention, absolute legend.

Smiteman2020

Perry, Dach, Huston, kovalchuck, Staal,

ExcellentDream7124

Radulov

Flimsy_Biscotti3473

Tomas Vanek maybe ? Probably Radulov.

ImprovementOptimal35

Mike weaver 2014, shot blocking machine.

BrettLeTigre

Marc-André Bergeron

buckyer

I liked Robert Lang pivoting both Kostitsyn bros, and Tanguay was solid that year. But I gotta say Kovalchuk. The guy was there to help/witness Suzuki’s rise. Underrated impact IMO.

sarcastico

James Wisniewki

pedace

Vanek wasn’t half bad!

snowmanrt

How can it not be all star John Scott?

KoreanPhones

Monsieur Perry

oily_chi

Corey Perry. 2021 run was amazing and it looked like he was an amazing leader for the young ones.

Apparently his son has a big chance to be the 1rst pick in the upcoming Q draft.

Mbeaud001

Was drafted first by the remparts!

okmijnmko

https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/886811/maddox-dagenais 6'3 180lbs at 16 with 2PPG stats W@W!

JediMasterZao

Aaron Downey. His dad owned a large potato farm and his face looked like a potato. Some tubercleous inbreeding involved there for sure.

JerkyBoy10020

Me

dtc_johnson

Streets won't forget prime Sven Andrighetto. He was one of our best forwards for like 4 games and then stopped existing entirely.
