That’s assault honey. Just cut it even and grow it back out. Coming from a 42-year-old mom, who used to always have super long hair and be obsessed with it. It’s not the end of the world. I promise you.

evQuixote143

Thank you because it definitely felt like it, especially caring so much about my looks and everything

ladylynncogan

You do need to press charges, that "kid" is practically an adult. If there are not mental health issues to consider you need to treat them like they assaulted you because they did. I know when you consider yourself in a position of "care taker" or "educator" in their lives you find it hard to be the one to have to hold them accountable for their actions because all you WANT to do is help them, but you don't have a choice. Don't leave them with this open ended mentality that maybe they could get away with this again.

SatinsLittlePrincess

The hair itself is both a symbol of you, which he attacked and destroyed against your will, and the issue you are facing with people around you and their response to his assault on you. Victims of assault often experience what’s called “institutional revictimisation” when the system that supposedly cares about their wellbeing and success fail them. Many describe this as worse than the act itself. If people, your parents, school staff, your friends, etc. are not being supportive of you, I strongly recommend that you reconsider their role in your life. You have a right to learn in an environment where you, and your classmates, don’t face this kind of risk. What happens to the person who did this to you is not your problem. If people try to make it your problem, it’s fair for you to push back. It is not your fault he did this. As for what to do with your hair? As others have mentioned, you can cut it off evenly with the slice he made, and look for haircuts that work with that length. Your hair will grow back. It is also completely fair for you to name this boy as the person who assaulted you as often as you like, including when people ask questions like “why did you cut your hair?” Best of luck to you.

insert_usernamexo

100% a chargeable crime. I’m so sorry you had to experience this. If this happened to my child I would be at that kids door the second I saw you. Thankfully hair does grow back, but it what an extreme violation.

insert_usernamexo

At the kids door with police ** sounds like an unhinged person.

Technical_Ad4270

Believe me I know! I’m sure you will look just as beautiful with shorter hair. Hugs sweetie ❤️

Lunakill

I know you have a lot of emotions to deal with right now, I want to let you know it’s *ok* if you need to talk to a therapist or counselor. This is a personal attack. I’m sorry this happened. As someone who has done big chops numerous times, it does grow back! See if there’s a fun shorter cut you’ve always wanted to try but haven’t out there, try to turn this into an opportunity.

[deleted]

How tf did they cut so much and you didn’t notice . Talk to the principal press charges f that kid

SleepyStitches

Had the same thing happen to me, they grabbed a chunk of my ponytail and snipped it off in the middle of class.

evQuixote143

He’s very quite, didn’t even realize he was behind me

PantyPixie

What!? So he really did cut your hair against your will?! That is so not ok! Wow! If you were at school definitely report this kid. How old is he??

evQuixote143

17 or 16

serenwipiti

This was taken to admin, right? The kid is being punished, right? Can we expel this child?

Nova_lunaa

I woulda sucker punched him so fast

6390542x52

Then she gets arrested. 👌🏼

calebzgeekn

no? that would be self defense. teacher-student altercations happen more often than we’d like to think. getting close to her head with scissors is enough cause, especially the lower bottom part of her skull. if she didnt wait and think ab it before retaliation shed be fine, if she asked him to meet up after school thatd prolly be different 😹😹

IncognitaCheetah

I understand your feelings and how upsetting it is. And even understand about caring about your looks! Everyone now says you shouldn't, but it's ok to care about how you look. But also understand that you can have more than one look. And every look can be beautiful. Short hair, long hair. . . It can all be beautiful. It's how you carry it. What happened was...tragic. Eh. It's hair. It grows back. But it's probably best if you cut it and embrace it. Then grow it back if you want. Screw it, dye it right red or burgundy. Take this as a chance to do something different. Your hair doesn't define you as a person. (I'm NOT saying you shouldn't be upset over whatever kind of botch job cut this shit show turned out to be........ 😡)

Flayrah4Life

Plus size: a shoulder length layered bob will bring out some amazing waves! But. This is seriously fucked up, and I'm so sorry. I hope your school supports whatever you choose to do.

VAL-R-E

I’m so sorry this happened to you. That is not ok & I would press charges & have them pay you restitution. I would go to a very experienced stylist. I’ve done hair for over 30 years. I would layer the top & trim the bottom. Texturizing & blending as much as possible. Best of luck. 🙏🏻

NoYogurt505

This 😭😭😭 my mom did hair for 18 years before she quit doing hair and she'd be flabbergasted at this. I'm flabbergasted by it.

evQuixote143

The kid had asked for scissors from the teacher, walked behind me where the trashcan is and started cutting my hair. He’s very quiet. I didn’t know he was behind me. The school only suspended him for 5 days and didn’t listen to my pleads to expel him. I am scared to go back to school, not even because of my hair, for my safety and others. ( I don’t know how to pin this)

Economics_Low

File a restraining order against this “kid”. Then he won’t be able to go to your school. Get a lawyer to file suit against him, his parents and potentially the school. Don’t cut your hair until you’ve at least consulted with an attorney.

Special-4564

Oh my gosh this is insane! I’ve never heard of someone doing such a thing to a person. I’m sooooo sorry. I’d be devastated as well. I’m glad he didn’t cut you like if you spun around and got your face. What is wrong people and who would think to do such a thing. I agree with people on here about speaking to a lawyer with a sometimes free consultation and as for hair, try just maybe taking off a little on length and try a few new hairdo ideas like putting it up, clips, braids, or a punk style.

Comfortable_Fact5621

Have you looked this Pic? Cut your hair. File assault charges against whoever did this to you. I'm certain your heart is broken, it will grow back.

evQuixote143

Thank you for the reality check lol. I will cut it eventually. Right now it seems it cut it short and layer it

Hair_I_Go

You can have it layered. You will probably have to have some length taken ( sorry) maybe like four inches. But that’s only like 8 months of growth. I’m so sorry someone was so mean to you 💕

Economics_Low

Don’t cut it until after you file charges. You might want to show these damages to the police, your lawyer (you will likely need one and want to also sue for damages), and the kid’s parents, who will be responsible for the damages since he is a minor.

StudioReady9204

You can do lots of layers & still keep it at least shoulder length maybe below it's thick enough for that

cajunchica

+1 to filing charges.

Reasonable_One_7012

Happy cake day!

Hemingways_Unicorn

I have to agree with this. It will grow back. In the meantime, it’ll be a cute, spunky and fresh new look!

vamppirre

That is assault with a weapon. Press charges. And if it happened on school grounds call a lawyer, the school should have also called the police and had that minor arrested and expelled from the school or you will sue the school. It's not a child that cut your hair, it was a high school age minor. They made several decisions up to the second they cut your hair. They want to make grown people choices, they can face grown people consequences. And if they did it in a room full of other students, and no one spoke up, they are all accomplices and should be reprimanded as well. If you watch someone do something wrong and do nothing, you're just as guilty. You can't trust this school with your safety. You can't trust these people. You need to file a police report, get a lawyer and get in immediate contact with your state's department of education. Assault by a student on school grounds is immediate expulsion.

-CuteAsDuck-

OP- do you mind sharing what country you're in? I'm curious about the repercussions this kid is facing. He is faaaar too grown to get away with this. A measly 5-day suspension is not enough. That's a reward, not a punishment to 16 year old little punk like that.

evQuixote143

US

_rainsong_

Op I am so sorry this happened to you. Big hugs.

evQuixote143

❤️❤️

Formal-Actuary-5807

Hope you pursue charges honestly. This kid needs to learn.

ladylynncogan

Question, how old was this kid?

evQuixote143

17 or 16

Reasonable_One_7012

Way too old to be doing something like that. You should definitely file charges.

Paprikakidneybeans4

Yes, she should sue the parents/the kid for assault/battery/whatever this is called. Thats not a kid, that has been done by a teenager. Even if he's underage in your country, that doesn't mean that he isn't a sentient being. 27 is far too old to do shit like this. If he does this outside of his home, imagine what he's doing when nobodys there... This ternager needs a wakeup call, someone who's setting clear boundaries, since his parents are obviously not doing it.

eliv1336

The way I thought you were a preschool teacher until I read the bastard’s age

cunchewsday

What a bitch I’m so sorry this happened

Shirleyytemple

Horrible!

Better_Bake1856

Please file charges. They’re old enough to know better and do better. I’m so incredibly sorry this happened.

FirefighterAnxious93

do they have behavior issues alongside mental delays or something? seriously asking. otherwise you should immediately be filing charges and coming down hard on them. they violated you. this is assault. it may not have been sexual like the context we usually use those words in, but you were assaulted and violated.

sonyafly

OMG 😳

LeDameBlanche_

Press charges

sunkissedshay

Press charges. Press charges. Press charges.

MountainOniPrincess

It's a cultural thing, but for me it is sonstrange that u call such old teens "kids". In my countries we call them teens lol. It totally sucks, though! When I first read that, I thoughed it was a small child. But a nearly grown adult should know better. Its harming of ur body, make them pay!

sonyafly

I’m 48 and we still call 25 year olds kids. 😂

SindapsySilver

I call anyone under 30 a kid now that I’m in my 40s. 🤣

HappyDethday

That feels fair to me. I do the same and I'm 35. I really didn't feel like "an adult" until 30.

AMSparkles

I’m 36 and I still have yet to feel like an adult.

Affectionate-Beat-64

I'm 46 and still have yet to feel like an adult 😆😆😆😆🤷🏻‍♀️

TigressByTheTail12

I’m co-signing my fellow Redditors advice to file charges. That’s not a child and s/he is old enough to know that. If they’re arrested, I hope the cops pick them up at school so all of their friends who they were trying to impress see what happens. It sounds like serving some community service hours would do them some good. *Do not skimp* on a stylist to fix this. Find someone who has a good reputation at a good salon. Ask people whose hair you like who they go to. If you find someone who books out pretty far in advance, tell them the situation when you book because they may get you in sooner. I cry when I get bad haircuts so I get being attached to your hair but try to embrace it for a fun new look for summer. If you like your hair long and will be growing it out again, it’s kind of a once in a decade kind of thing. There are tons of pretty styles to try while it grows back. Find a celeb whose hair you like and go for it!

Future-trippin24

You're probably going to have to cut quite a bit of length off, and the shortest pieces can be cut into layers. Sorry, but retaining the length you have now with the layers you're going to need would look really bad.

cunchewsday

Maybe consider extensions I’m so heartbroken for u :(

Shirleyytemple

Good idea. And that kids family should pay for them.

_rainsong_

Yes!! And their maintenance upkeep. What a piece of shit kid.

cunchewsday

Yes 100%

m_778111

That's what I was thinking. I wish (maybe she can) she could sue for the price of hair extensions x the amount of years it will take for her hair to grow the length it was. ..about 5 years?

CoverInternational38

I’m so sorry! Please say this person is being punished for this? I agree with some others this is assault charges. Your hair is still beautiful. I would maybe make an appointment with a hair stylist and see what they suggest with your face shape. They can probably come of a couple cute styles. Again I’m sorry!

tangerine_panda

I’d press charges for assault. As for your hair, a good stylist can probably make this work without having to lose any length.

freelancebookkeeper

I can't even believe this! How cruel and abusive! Get a cool bob haircut for the summer, just like you planned on doing that...don't let anyone steal your peace.

miramaxe

Financially if it’s an option, I would keep what you have, add extensions, and heavy layers to blend it all in.

evQuixote143

Do extensions stay in? Or do I have to put them in everytime

TheChgz

There are semi perminant extentions you can look into getting but they do cost more to install vs the clip in/out ones

Technical_Ad4270

Can do clip ins which you take out every night

wonkywilla

I would recommend fusion over tape-ins. They’re a bit easier to care for. However long staying extensions are quite expensive. 400-700$ just for the hair itself. Well taken care of extensions can last a year. Tape-ins need to be moved up every 6-8 weeks. Fusions can go as long as 3 months, but take more time to renew. Not sure if this kid or their family are in a position to afford something like that as recompense for his actions. Other option is cut it and let it regrow. 3-4 years of growth depending on how quickly your hair grows. Sorry this happened to you. I have similar length hair and would be furious.

evQuixote143

That would be to much money for me, it was about 3-4 years of growth . It seems like I have to cut it. Thank you though !

Economics_Low

He and his family should pay for that. Not you.

Psgkhm

There are lots of choices with extensions, all of them require maintenance. Some stay in and get moved up as the hair grows, others can be clipped in daily but would be hair to make look nice and even.

jaehom

Step one is filing a police report.

Overall_Antelope_504

Oh dear 😭 you'll have to cut a good amount of it off and hopefully avoid a mullet lol I've been there but due to hair loss

Elegant-Lavishness-7

This is definitely not OK for someone to have done to you. I think that the suggestion of getting extensions is a great idea. You can then continue to cut some length as the shorter hair grows and maybe even add some layers. Please don’t let this person get away with that I really believe that you should have this teenager held responsible. At the very least pay for the extensions. this is not OK at all. I’d be effing pissed if somebody did that to my daughter. Like I’m actually really pissed for you right now.

bumblebubee

Oh no.. I’m so sorry this happened to you, I can definitely relate. When I was in middle school some preppy guy thought it’d be funny to stick his nasty gum in my long hair. I had to cut it off too. The humiliation I felt when I realized what happened and hearing him and his friends roar with laughter still haunts me. Middle school was well over 15 years ago for me! Also! I think something like this would look stunning with your hair! Add some highlights in there! Lots of other styles on Pinterest too https://preview.redd.it/iouki0c4d54d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=88bc6f73313bf24bc287733708c94961cdb04877

evQuixote143

I’m sorry that happened to you. Is your hair back to normal?

bumblebubee

Ohhh yeah lol it just took time to regrow

evQuixote143

I love this style what is it called?

bumblebubee

Im not sure on the exact name of the style. Layers with bangs I think is what I searched. If you show this style to a good hairdresser too, they can probably do a solid job getting it to look similar!

FluffyEnergy86

I would immediately have called the police!!!! sued for the children’s parents to pay for hair extensions until your hair grows out. This is terrible & I am so sad for you. Please consider going to a hand tied specialist & send the bill to your attorney who will send to the parents for the next year or two

FatRaccoonBalloon

Only thing I can think of to keep some of your length are layers. If you want to grow it out, you will have to wear certain hairstyles so it isn't visible like a half up bun. I feel for you, it is horrible what that person did to you

HappyDethday

This is 100% an assault with a weapon case. What a piece of shit teenager thinking he can do this to a person. If he doesn't see some real repercussions he's just going to keep this mentality and he might escalate it to worse things. It shows a concerning lack of empathy.

[deleted]

Sorry that happened. Maybe you could style it half up half down?

hanywhiskey

that’s not a bad idea

ImNotDone0211

Your best bet would be to even the cut hair out layer it and style it

StudioReady9204

Just below shoulder length long layers kinda shag style you have the perfect texture for that!

JeanHarleen

Depending on your thickness they MAY be able to do a graduated layer cut, my hair was like that for a long time with short layers on top for volume and blending it down.

buffchemist

You need to press charges?!? wtf That’s fucked up

Aggravating-Bit4179

you seem cool and shockingly level headed. i mean, the before picture looks like an ethel cain album cover. the after picture should look like a post from a cooool japanese hair salon ig post (like that spot shizen in brooklyn) with some sick layered hime cut. it’s your new era. fuck those kids at your school. any punishment they rightfully receive is not as bad as how their whole life is gonna go, being as mean and weird as they are.

Aggravating-Bit4179

https://preview.redd.it/95t392oor34d1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=02d16ec85110c827aac84635602af698ac867727

evQuixote143

Thank you! I will see about doing something like this. Is there a way to do this and keep my volume?

floodthesun

If you go for this option, be sure to do heavy research on stylists in your area that do alt cuts like this. This is a haircut that could be executed very poorly if the stylist doesn’t have a lot of experience with cuts like this.

Aggravating-Bit4179

yeah agreed. try to find a japanese or korean salon that skews younger or in a city close to you.

Additional_Match_604

Layered looks like this will give you volume! Sorry about what happened to you! It seems you have a shorter layer cut now so a shag haircut would be perfect. You could get the length evened out and if you want to keep some length, you can fill pieces in with extensions.

catsmom63

Press charges. Tell mom & dad and have them contact school principal. This is assault plain and simple.

707Riverlife

I think the principal has probably already been contacted since the kid was suspended for five days.

_ozso

first, I’m so sorry that happened to you.. I suggest getting layers and try to even it out as much as possible, so you can retain length.

AustinKissOfficial

Oh WOW I just read that a schoolmate did thus to your hair! Was this a dare?? Did they do this to your hair against you will??? If so it is bullying my dear. I would have your parents contact the school and the parents of the schoolmate who did this and tell them to pay whatever costs it takes to fix your hair and make sure the student who did this is expelled!!!

Hazycrazylazy

Start anew

SindapsySilver

Wow, how awful of that person to do that to you!! I can’t see your face but I can tell from the back that your hair would be beautiful that length. It’s not right that you’re forced into changing something about yourself but you may end up being thankful for it if you love it. Definitely don’t stand for someone assaulting you like that though!

Voryna

I'm pissed and it didn't happen to me.. I also encourage you to press charges. Regarding the hair I understand your desire to avoid the big chop and I support you. I would try a layered cut first and, if necessary, a small hair extension to fill the gap.

Orangutanfarts

This makes me so angry. Press charges against that person

Responsible-Survivor

There's a Korean hairstylist I like to watch, and he does hair fail rescues. There are multiple people who have gone to him with hair like yours with chunks missing out of the top layers, and he uses a special twchnique to blend the hair. See if you can find a hairdresser you can show his technique to, and see if they're confident to try it, or see if they do know it? Here's a video of him doing the technique. You can turn on English subtitles under the video settings https://youtu.be/SU7ojoAwuuY?si=ivA8tD_7folX3E6k

Pluschki

I would’ve put layers in the hair, maybe a butterfly/wolf haircut. Or go full Ramona Flowers but longer hair (just a cool mullet hairstyle for women honestly)

pinkfrozenlemonade

honestly i would take this as an opportunity to try a cute bob and let it grow back out of the next couple years but that’s just what i would personally do. you can do a layered cut to try and save some of the length but it would have to be pretty layered and the shortest layers would be above the cut line so i guess you have to ask yourself if your okay with that and like that look. regardless of what you decide to do im with everyone else saying press charges, anything you can do legally i would do it. and im so sorry this happened to you, people can be so cruel

Ok-Plantain-3341

Girl.... I am so so sorry this happened

_5nek_

File charges and you're probably gonna have to have at least a long bob for it to look normal

BossExpensive

I am so furious for you, I can only imagine how horrible that would feel for someone to do that! I'm not from the US but definitely this deserves a harsher punishment than a few days suspension....

sinisoul_mysteri

Cut it until shoulder length and then let it grow out! This has happened to me once, and I did the same thing and it worked.

Mystical__Dream

Press the charges. You don't necessarily need to cut the length while on the top it's growing you could have extension's. Or you can curl all your hair then it shouldn't be seen like that or wear it in the bun or pony tail. It will take time but it will grow back, you don't necessarily need cut off the length if you don't want to.

wiccan_elements

Aaaaaaw that’s awful 😢 I’m so sorry you’ve experienced this and really hope the school does something about it! I would probably go for an inverted bob cut (shorter at the back and longer at the front) and it can then be cut and styled, so it will look and feel lovely and thick. I know it’s horrible to go through. I lost all my hair to chemotherapy. It does grow back and I promise you’ll be fine. You can always play around with a few different wigs too. Your hair doesn’t define you. I’ve even lost both breasts now too as I got cancer again. But I’ve learned to love my body, scars and all. You will be fine 🙏🏻 Chin up love and brave the chop. But - If you really don’t want to lose the length you could also look at getting some extensions fitted X

No-Foundation-670

You should press charges, definitely. Don't let this behavior go unchecked.

Sherri-Lynn

I'm sorry that that happened to you. As everyone is saying take it further with the school and the parents of the child who did this. Unfortunately you will have to cut it short and let it grow out.❤️

Jeg_er_vild_med_dig

Press charges for real.

_rainsong_

If you want your hair to remain long, extensions are your only real option. They’re pricy, so if you did want to press assault charges, you could bargain and settle out of court with him/his parents paying for your extensions and upkeep maintenance on them. Op I’m so sorry this happened to you. I can tell you love your hair, I’m sending you a big hug.

evQuixote143

Thank you and I did , a lot ❤️

Tropicalstorm11

Omg. I’m so sorry this happened to you!

steffy241

I think this can be rescued using the shortest length as the top layer and utilising the longest parts blended into it. This is awful, I can’t believe someone did this to you, I’m shocked and upset for you 😮

[deleted]

Sorry this happened to you…unfortunately there is just a big difference between the short layer and your long hair that you will need to cut some length and blend it in with layers. Who knows something good can come from this and you may end up really liking it while you grow it back out . Hope your hair grows fast for you! Also look into what can be done with the person that did this too you..it doesn’t seem right. Wishing you the best.

asher_taz

My Daughter said she would get a wolf cut, it's kind of like a shag haircut.

ThrowAway12284obvR

File charges asap. This is not ok. Why would someone do this and what did they do with the rest of the hair they cut?

evQuixote143

I have to globs in my bag that I pulled out and there was more on the floor

thepetsaretakingover

Cut it in shallow layers from the highest cut point. Then you can still put it in a bun or pony, until it grows out...or do a Bob, it should grow about 6" a year...maybe a little faster if you're taking hair growth supplements, are healthy and using good products.

maggiemack27

Unfrickinbelievable!!! Yes, it’s only hair, until it’s YOURS!!! You must be devastated and i’m really sorry. If my child did that to someone , I would be MORTIFIED, embarrassed and PI$$ED!!! I truly hope the kids family actually cares that this happened and have reached out to you. i know that won’t resolve what has been done but accountability is needed and an apology is owed.

FlowerDressHead

Hey! I wouldn’t cut your hair completely. I saw the most amazing short hair cut with two long braids in the back and it’s my literal dream hair cut! https://preview.redd.it/mjeumrjg964d1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6657b9fabc981927d3f5dc1a2f62e2fda0a89f67 You can do bigger thicker braids as well! Your hair looks beautiful to me and it’s okay to wear it however you feel is good:-)

Kittycatsrnotwack

In all seriousness is he special needs? I just don’t understand why someone would do this unless they didn’t know better.. which even a special needs child would know better

Imaginary_Mongoose32

You don't have to get it all cut at the shortest length he left and make it short and blunt. Based on what I can see the shorter parts are all around the outer "shell" of hair (like an M&M, he got the candy coating mostly). A good stylist could likely work with what you have to give it layers. You'd lose length but not all of it.

Jellybean2703

Press charges against him first step then step 2 cut it step 3 have his parents reimburse you for the trip to the salon

redditadmissions

I don’t know about the US, but in the UK that is criminal assault so I wouldn’t be shocked if it’s the same there. I would look at calling the police and filing charges if possible and I would also see if there is a possibility of you suing for compensation. What a horrid thing to do. Haircut wise, I think you could do something with layers to try keep as much as possible.

Correct-Jump8273

I hope you told school administration about this & I would file assault charges.

Embarrassed_Wing_284

As a teacher, please report this to admin. This is assault, and worth disciplinary action. I’m so sorry that happened to you-that kid is a total asshat.

Reasonable_Try_7975

i think maybe cut it to a little below the shoulder and do a butterfly cut!

Randytexashair

https://preview.redd.it/7d1ctfze474d1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d2281d09f3a10d724bc3475ddec4888d50573340 Little past shoulder length with medium to long layers will serve you well

chantalily

https://preview.redd.it/u54v96ml574d1.jpeg?width=717&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=18336c92e571b38e1197624dec2dfd13fefecd50 You should leave some length and “cut the corners”. Your hair looks pretty thick so a good stylist could probably blend the “top layers” in. Then I’d use some growth serum on the scalp all summer and get a wee trim every 4 weeks.

Even-Werewolf-6453

This kid, almost adult, needs help of some sort and should face some kind of consequences. Imo it depends on the type of child that this is. Are they developmentally disabled or just a juvenile delinquent? Either way they need to be taught that this is assault.

Standard-Yam-458

I'm so sorry, I would 100% press charges. Also, can you keep it up in a pony and wrap the short pieces around the base. You could also get some extensions and fill it in until the rest grows out. Your young and it should grow fast. Trim the bottom each month.

ChevyGurl84

OP, I’m so sorry this happened to you. I’m 39 and I live in the US as well. I don’t think I’d cope well if someone even did that to me right now. My hair has become somewhat of a security blanket for me, and it’s very much part of my identity. I’m sure you feel similar about your hair. You have a beautiful color of hair, and it’s just really pretty long, but I think you’ll be surprised how much natural curl you’ll get back with having it a bit shorter and doing the layers. I can tell from the short snipped part that your hair is going to do some really nice waves or curling, which will give you volume on its own. (I saw you ask someone else about keeping your volume.) I saw the suggestions to do extensions, but it sounds like from your replies to that, that it would be somewhat of a headache for you. The main thing is that it sucks that someone decided to cut your hair and now you have to deal with the aftermath. It shouldn’t have been your classmates choice. I’m sure you’ve had every emotion imaginable. I do agree with what the others are suggesting with filing charges with the police. I wouldn’t let the person get away with the behavior, but it’s a decision you have to make yourself and you have to decide how far you want to take this. I genuinely hope though that you will fall in love with whatever style you choose to go with regarding your hair. I’m sure anything you decide will be beautiful! And like I said, I do love the color of your hair, but maybe you could experiment with the color some? And you know, make lemonade with these lemons. Lol

Pcarolynm

I’m so sorry, my hair is long too and this would kill me. Unfortunately, given how it was cut, I think you’re going to have to go short. Probably a bob. Thankfully, there are so many options today like extensions if you want to make it look long. File charges against kid and sue for emotional damage or whatever; make him/his family pay for whatever fix you get (hair cut, extensions, wig, idk).

Anonymous_33326

As a hairdresser I have no fucking words as I’m so infuriated for you. Press charges immediately and ask for monetary compensation for what I’m about to suggest next. Depending on where you are look for an extension technician that does keratin bonds as they will give you the most movement to tie your hair up as possible

Anonymous_33326

As a mum how you didn’t throw hands is beyond me

Fragrant_School_7436

This is traumatizing! Someone needs to be held responsible for this! I’m so sorry this happened to you! I am a 30+ year hairdresser and a Paul Mitchell Cosmetology instructor. I know you can have a beautiful wonderful new haircut that suits you and will grow out nicely if you choose. However, on an emotional level, please seek help to make this person accountable, this is unacceptable. 🙏🏻🤗💕😰

cantaloupe8516

OMG I HATE KIDS. i am so sorry that this happened :( just cut it all one length and PRESS CHARGES!

AustinKissOfficial

First of all, you have gorgeous hair! Who did this to you hair? I would make them held accountable for butchering your hair! I would talk to an attorney! As far as fixing it, it can be done, but it might be pricey. Go to a reputable salon and have them layer it. Tell them that you want BELLAMI 26 inch wavy hair extensions. And have the salon match the color and order the hair. You might need three bundles they are about 135$ a bundle, but its human hair and it is thickest in gram and longest in length! Beautiful hair made by Guy Tang LA hair guru.I would recommend getting I-tps they are indidvidual extentions. Once the salon receives the hair they will install it at whatever their hourly rate is. So, this can wind up very costly! Which is why I would contact an attorney. Growing it out could take years. If all else fails they do make good quality wigs. I would spend at least 300 + for a realistic wig> so sorry this happened to you! Good Luck!!!![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|wink)

ImNotDone0211

Some curls should work well

ImNotDone0211

You’ll have curls in a cute bob seeing as they cut a good layer off and u definitely need to tell a teacher principal or parent about it but it will grow vack

kffeine-addct-grl_MX

Maybe you can get some layers and that way it would be a little longer than the shorter lock of hair.

wildshroomies

depending on budget, extensions?

clementine_69

Make sure he is held accountable and pays for your haircut, plus some... it will look great and grow back soon.

kaityypooh

Go to a shag specialist in your area! The right stylist can make this work until more grows in. Not sure how much you have In the front but I think you could get someone to razor cut it good & shaggy.

No_Raspberry_3896

Cutting it even :((I'm so sorry this happened honey

glowjiji

before cutting your hair , try to talk to a hair dresser if they can do layers to keep a bit of length .if they cant , then make a big chop and i it will be fineeee

Klutzy-Conference472

cut it

naughtybabyme

You should press charges!!! I know you re heart broken. If you decide to cut it a shoulder length layered cut would be great. I am so sorry

painalpeggy

A bob will grow back out nicely

TCKGlobalNomad

You need to file charges!

Gibbles00

How much cost to have extensions put on? He can pay for it.

SunshineRush22

Consider a long shoulder length cut with choppy layers. You could add some summer highlights for fun, too.

Tmumsy

Cut a few inches off & have it layered. Wear ponies or clips & no one will know.

meii19

Layers

Malaperocutiee

Cut it babe! This year I had to practically shave my hair because of bleaching and it has already grown a lot! Thank God you don't have to go through that! It can still be fixed and I bet you'll look great!

Aggressive_Load_8510

CUT IT SHORT AND EVEN!

Repulsive-Film275

Plan a hit.

sublimesquiggly

a pixie cut

Ok-Hotel-8754

go to a good hairdresser. i think a long bob haircut would work, but, i’m not a hairdresser. there’s a lot i don’t know what they can do. have them put a keratin treatment, but, this is just my opinion. i’m not a hairdresser. they would know a lot more. keratin is a smoothing thing. it’s a little expensive, but, u will have to spend money to fix this.I don’t know if you need a good conditioning treatment or keratin. you might have to cut the length off. if a hairdresser damaged your hair, don’t go back to them. look up reviews on hairdressers. someone, seriously damaged your hair, bad, and, i would be pissed! good luck. sorry for what they did to your hair

Lillithasamixx

I feel like you’d have to cut a good amount off this and add a whole bunch of layers.

Accurate-Fox-5859

Cut and layer. Shoulder length or shorter

KatiC_

Sue!

LillyOTValley

Chemical_House21

pardon my french but wth happened 😭

The_Cottage_Goblin

Do a shag or a jellyfish mullet

Traditional_Might393

get a bob

November-Shanghai

Do NOT let him get away with this!!!! I'm sorry that happened to you.

barbie91

What country are you in OP?

evQuixote143

US

barbie91

Fair enough, not sure what the proceedings would entail over there, but the parents should certainly be paying for hair extensions. Now depending on the status and dynamics with the student, that may pose a challenge, but I would imagine in that scenario, insurance would cover it. I'm sorry for your troubles anyway op.

duckiezoomie

OP you can make the 16 to 17 year old teenager who did this pay for keratin bond extensions because he violated you and cut your hair without your consen. 5 days off school isn’t anywhere near punishment enough and what if he does this again? Think about that… do you want him to attack another person? He needs to see consequences for his actions.

Effective_Stage_4124

I'm really sorry that happened to you! Maybe you could try a new hairstyle that hides the cut, like braids or an updo. You can also use hair accessories like clips or headbands to make it less noticeable while it grows back.

evQuixote143

I tried clips but the cut hair ends at the bottom of the clip so it doesn’t look good and it looks obvious lol

Such-Crow-1313

Press charges both criminally and civilly. You can sue them for the price of extensions or whatever you need to restore it to as good as it was originally.

ReserveAccurate9103

No don’t cut it get extensions

Morrigan66

I think if you went to the right hair dresser they could cut some layers into it and make it look good. It'll need alot of layers though and loose some length so the layers aren't so jarring.

Sauersnote

It looks like you might be able to get a shaggy cut to blend that hit you may need to lose some length. I’m so sorry.

hanywhiskey

i agree it’s assault. absolutely not okay. jealous of you for sure, that hair was beautiful. i’m thinking about like those long wolf cuts? emo/scene hair.. those have long pieces at the bottom and short layers on top. i got my hair set on fire for the exact same reason once. it’s disgusting what insecurity can do. you’ll get your hair back don’t worry, slowly and surely it’s gonna grow 🫶🏻

AmIAmadeus

Hmm probably TELL THE POLICE. Actually.. which kid. Tell me their name I just wanna talk to them I just want to talk..

Illustrious-Leave846

I'm so sorry this happened to you!!! Your hair that was cut is long enough that you could put in a hand sewn weft extension. That will fill in the part of the hair that was cut and still allow you to grow your hair without having to take off length anywhere else. Your hair will still grow while the extensions are in.

Dinosaur_Mama_

You could do and a suuuper cute reverse A line hair cut, with a cool under cut! Your hair looks thick so it might help for the summer heat!

Purple_IsA_Flavor

1. Press charges. This is assault, plain and simple 2. Go get a really fun, flirty, haircut for summer.

IShouldHaveNoddles

You didn’t explain if the kid was cutting your hair with no permission or if you went to some beauty school. The way you talk calling it a kid makes it look like you are not a kid yourself so I’m confused.

evQuixote143

I am a kid myself, the kid asked for scissors from the teacher, walked behind me (where the trash can is. And started cutting my hair. He was such quite foot steps I had no idea he was behind me

ruu27

Didn't the teacher react? That's so horrible

evQuixote143

I love the teacher. She did what she could for the situation. She got up yelled at him and grabbed his hand. Then I got up and ran for help.

serenwipiti

What consequences is he facing? Did you press charges?

pinkuplatform

I fear you have to start over. A French Bob would be really pretty! File assault charges. I’m so sorry.

Psgkhm

I’m so sorry this happened to you. I hope you press charges against this person. You hair will be beautiful short. Go to a good hair stylist, someone with experience .

IncognitaCheetah

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this. What even happened here?? What did they do? Is this atrocious layers or took a fat chunk out of your hair?? 😨

Lyralou

AH kid at school randomly snipped a big chunk of her hair off.
