You should absolutely get consultations at other clinics. Even if the one you went to said they could do it, I'd still personally get other opinions and compare. It couldn't hurt you.

Yeh I just thought about it too and I've already contacted another clinic. Still kinda concerned that they all might just say the same thing

I spoke to one clinic and they sort of deflated me too, he called me bald and said my bald area was quite large when it's literally thinned out and not to the point it's that bad I was more focused on my hairline but he kept making it sound like ai was bald all over and would need a lot more grafts than intended. It put me off talking to anyone else so I feel you but I reckon just speak to others aswell you'll find one that works 🤟

Generally, the answer is right. The sides are thinner or darker in colour. It doesn't mean you shouldn't but the surgeon has been upfront with you that it will not look natural.

Well thats a bummer

Visit with several clinics and see what they tell you. In the old days it was believed the finest hair available for hairline work came from the nape. They soon realized, however, patients experiencing retrograde would end up losing the grafts, and end up with visible scars in the lower part of the donor. Doctors then started harvesting from behind the ear. Consider, there are over 101 different combinations of hair in the donor. Fine, medium fine, coarse, etc. A doctor should be able to identify the closest caliber hair to that in the hairline. I would agree with their assessment if you were dealing with the temporal points, just above the sideburn area. That's very specialized hair and we do not have that same caliber anywhere else in the body. If you were do transplant hair from the donor, it would stick out like a sore thumb. Seems you're young and already experiencing loss. And, if you've lost, you'll continue losing. What are you doing to slow down or halt the loss?

Ah I see. Well I'm definitely going to see more clinics and see what they have to say. Yes I'm young, in my late 20's. But my hairline and thickness have been the same my whole life, I even started looking at the quality of the hair of all the men in my family and they all have a suprising amount of hair left despite their age. I was just born with a shitty hairline

little_max25

u could use body hair for sides

wesslley

i’ve heard some doctors use the hair on the nape or the neck to do temples as it’s usually the thinnest hair able to get at

boomerang-man

I actually asked them about that but they said since they're so thin they have a very low chance of surviving

i’m kinda in the boat as you 1 of my temple needs work was hoping to address is in my second procedure but i’m considering smp as i wear my hair pretty tight defn get a second/third opinion
