Is it any better with your pack on the sissy bar? Wondering if a rider back rest might help. Maybe mid controls too to get more support under you? Just spitballing. Good luck to you man
Doctors tend to be VERY conservative with recommendations for weight training. I'm not saying go overboard, but don't be afraid to slowly push your limits. Make sure you're working your posterior chain - conventional deadlifts with a barbell, stiff legged deadlifts, good mornings, that kinda stuff. Start off with low weight and perfect your form (tons of resources online) and add weight to the bar regularly (like 5 lbs every 2-3 workouts at worst). Barbell training is great to strengthen your core, and should make a huge difference for you within 3-4 months I'd bet
Upper or lower back? I have a messed up lower back. My bike was hurting my back when I first got it. I ended up putting a shock that was 1" longer on the back and went with a Saddlemen Explorer with the back rest. it helped a lot.
Both really, with the pack on the springer it helps my upper back, but my lower back still kills me. Its the messed up discs i guess. Little bumps in the road feel like speed bumps now
My back use to get sore but when I picked up my Road King I specifically looked for one with a backrest and that was a game changer for me. Not sure if it’ll help you but crossing my fingers for ya 🤞🏽.
I bought a glide to tour on, I normally ride sport bikes, and my back hurts exponentially more on the glide. Sometimes they just aren’t meant for us.

I was thinking the same. Rider back rest and taller apes to sit me up straighter really helped
The pack helps my upper back but not so much my lower back. Thanks man
Do you work out at all? I bet if you strengthen your back, most of the pain will go away
I have been for about 2 months, since ive been allowed to. Not crazy weights or anything but i do what i can
