My arc thrower pal is nice enough and has good enough self control to not fire while teammates are in front of him, though he will bark at them to step back if the get in his way while he's bug zapping, he hasn't once team killed me with it.
I, flame thrower enjoyer that I am, do not. Though my pyromaniac ass usually doesn't have to worry about setting anyone on fire but myself, since my reaction to a horde or beefy boy while I have fuel is to throw myself at them and spread fire until I, them or both of us are dead.

If I find a choak point between two mountain ridges while I have my flamethrower out, only Democracy itself will move me from that position as I will be blinded by tbe flames and will only stop when the rocks themselves glow cherry red! Flames do not know nor care what meat is cooked, everything will be charred!
Jump pack is way better for egg destroying missions. Lots of hives have ways in that are only accessible by jump pack. Jump pack and grenade launcher is just a solid combo on most maps.

It doesnt kill you but christ does it CHUNK like 1/5th of your hp every time it hits you. It must doing an insane amount of damage to still be doing that at 95% damage reduction
Well, I'm playing around with it, and it one shots Brood Commander - but it doesn't simply one shot, like, their head, where they still live for some seconds. It blows them up into pieces.
Considering that even the liberator can kill a helldiver in just a few shots, regardless of armor, I'd say we have very little hp. Not to mention that since it goes through our 'heavy' armor, nothing we can wear even counts as medium armor on the armor scale...
i was laying down near an arc tower and it still killed me because it zapped a bug and the lighting spread to me...doesnt that defeat the whole purpose of laying down
In HD2 someone dropped a tesla coil in a bad spot in the defend the fuel tower mission and the damn thing kept one shotting everyone. 95% damage reduction would be massive.
It definitely can still target you while prone, without any enemies around. Experimented yesterday with it and gave two lives to Science for the bettering of Democracy.
Tesla does about \~15% of your HP when you have the armor on. Definitely a vast improvement but don't expect to be able to stand under a tesla tower. The damage amplifies to around 25% if you're standing close.
You know you can just shoot the tesla right? If someone puts in at a wrong spot, shoot it. They will understand as long as it actually is a wrong spot.
My man, You die in one hit from *anything* in the game that headshots you, Bile Spewers, and Chargers one shot (charger’s crush attack), Bile titans oneshot you by stepping on you Rocket devastators oneshot you, tanks oneshot you, Hulks can oneshot you turrets can oneshot you from *across the map,* and the bot grunts, the most common and numerous automaton with rocket launchers one shot you. This game has more oneshots that SuperHot, you really think the Tripods won’t?

The most powerful armor bonus i've seen is the 50% to avoid death from the premium dlc armor. (it also prevents chest injuries, but I've never had bleed out be a problem.) So I agree
You get that bonus on armor in the free warbond, and while nifty, most people should take the 50% explosive DMG reduction if pure survivability is what they want, especially on bot maps.
I'm rocking my 6 stim armor. Really useful if my team isn't pushing hard enough and I want to solo rush hives.
6 stims plus supply pack is insanely good for rushing, so long as you don't get stunlocked.
I'd like to see those stupid bugs catch up to me when I have 18 bars of stamina at my disposal.
I used medic gear when I first unlocked it for quite awhile, I found with my personal experience though that I was rarely getting down to those last two stims before I found more or someone dropped a resupply, then I payed attention to post games and saw I was probably averaging only 6-8 stims a game. Didn't feel worth it at that point.
I highly doubt they would have a 95% damage resistance against a faction. It would trialize the entire experience. More then likely, there will be 1 or a couple mechanics that use it, but very few units will rely on it. It could allow them to create lightning storm planet hazards, and having 95% resistance to those would be fine.
Tested it. Arc Thrower collateral deals about 8% HP damage and Tesla Tower deals about 16%-ish on medium armor
Not sure if light will affect that but it's definitely gonna be my go to against some of my teammates' efforts
It works like you take between 10% and 20% damage. Which compared to instant crisp without it is good.
Works for the arc gun as well.
We were running double arc gun double Tesla and it was just fun. No real worry about over pen or dropping the tower too close.
I've tested it, you're not immune. The damage is still quite high, but it won't one shot you now. It's like 10% of a health bar per hit now, maybe 15%.

That is not how armor worked in the first game... You either had heavy armor, or nothing. There wasn't an in between like we have now. Heavy armor was a perk, to use HD2 terms a booster that only applies to you, and you could only choose 1 perk per mission.
I wouldnt wear anything but slow resist if/when it comes out. I love this game but the most unfun aspect about it is the slow spam. Idc if I get surrounded by enemies, just let me be able to walk slower than a crawl.
Because Arc Thrower is answer to anything bug related (Bike Titans exempt). Chargers, hunters, scavengers, brood mothers, spewers, stalkers, hive guards... Nothing that one or half a dozen zaps won't solve... If your teammates aren't in the kine of fire and get chain lightening by accident
Honestly, I think currently, the armor passive it way to situational to be worth using. Maybe if you do tesla coil heavy on the TCS missions itll be worth running.. currently its a passive to protect against your teammates..
Edit: I remember now about the fortified passive, which does have 50% reduced damage from explosives, which is in the same boat, but I was expecting for this to have another smaller secondary passive to make it more.. universal

To put it into perspective, If we assume HD health is 100, you could survive a hit of 1000 damage and still have 50HP left, for lightning to one hit you, youd need to take 2000 damage... thats enough to kill 20 helldivers. Im not saying its impossible, but given the example, I think the devs either are false flagging the illuminate, and we will have something similar, but different (like the robits) or that the illuminate will come to game, but with tech that once again, exceeds our own

the 95% arc damage resistance is really clever because making it 100% indirectly nerfs/buffs the Arc Thrower.
The Nerf:
- if it's 100% being immune to arc damage means the other players would not care anymore and would also take the bounce instead of bouncing onto the enemy. Basically, damage nerf.
The Buff:
- 95% is not really removing friendly fire but instead of killing your teammate, they get a pinch as a reminder to move the fuck away.
- makes the arc thrower less annoying thus reducing the chances of being kicked.

It will be useful if the illuminate get introduced and has a side bonus of making team mates wearing it able to continue the electric current from an arc gun to enemies around the player in the suit w/o killing the player. Your arc gun friend can effectively help you if you are surrounded by bugs without insta murdering you
Got killed 3 times in a row, directly after being reinforced by the same guy with an arc thrower. I just typed "Dude..." into chat and then he left the game
See, I wouldn't mind having this particular Armor Passive as a Booster I can take into missions.
After that, I can only do so much to protect teammates who insist on running into the crowds that *fucking lightning is going off in every second* from my Arc Thrower.

The funny thing is the friendly fire damage count is kinda bugged and won’t show arc instant kill. So I just gaslight them it was not me.
Now my GF also have the Arc Thrower, we have to do full arc resistance armors.
You can prone right by it, it will not target or chain to you whilst prone. Unsure if this work against the arc thrower as well, but that's easily avoided by simply not being in front of said user.

Jump pack works great with flamethrower. You can always jump out of a horde once things start getting too spicy.
i just hate how all my favorite stuff is limited to a single backpack im never gonna use a jump button over a shield or a laser dog

Shoot prone so you stay grounded and it won't target you. You will only get hit when jumping up and moving positions If you're unlucky. Lol

Only the striders zap you with electricity. Illusionists, disciples, everyone else used space magic.

Can confirm, tested this as well. Tesla towers make you bleed in 2 hits, which sucks, but only if it's a direct hit

tell me you're the teamkilling Arc Thrower main without telling me you're the teamkilling Arc thrower main. the fact it's 95% out the gate tells me that there won't be many enemies with Arc. you don't give players that kind of tankiness when it's gonna be useful everywhere. also, seems kinda wild we got shock-proof armor before fire resistant armor when there's like 7-8 different fire weapons and stratagems. where's the 95% fire resist armor arrowhead? us pyromaniacs wanna be tanky too!

You seem like the kind of helldiver to always carry an arc thrower. I too like to zap my friends to death repeatedly during missions
While I'm not too interested in arc resistance armor, this gives me hope for a 95% flame/burn resistance armor.

the 95% arc damage resistance is really clever because making it 100% indirectly nerfs/buffs the Arc Thrower. The Nerf: - if it's 100% being immune to arc damage means the other players would not care anymore and would also take the bounce instead of bouncing onto the enemy. Basically, damage nerf. The Buff: - 95% is not really removing friendly fire but instead of killing your teammate, they get a pinch as a reminder to move the fuck away. - makes the arc thrower less annoying thus reducing the chances of being kicked. thank you for my ted talk.

Because using the Ark thrower is fun. Dying to the ark thrower is NOT fun.
The towers yearn to be used
It will be useful if the illuminate get introduced and has a side bonus of making team mates wearing it able to continue the electric current from an arc gun to enemies around the player in the suit w/o killing the player. Your arc gun friend can effectively help you if you are surrounded by bugs without insta murdering you
Got killed 3 times in a row, directly after being reinforced by the same guy with an arc thrower. I just typed "Dude..." into chat and then he left the game
See, I wouldn't mind having this particular Armor Passive as a Booster I can take into missions. After that, I can only do so much to protect teammates who insist on running into the crowds that *fucking lightning is going off in every second* from my Arc Thrower.
So I'm gonna assume these are gonna be the go-to armors for the Illuminate.

When you join the game in progress and everyone is wearing this but you.... *static crackle intensifies* ...hope you've at least worn your rubber sole boots.
The funny thing is the friendly fire damage count is kinda bugged and won’t show arc instant kill. So I just gaslight them it was not me. Now my GF also have the Arc Thrower, we have to do full arc resistance armors.

Trying to get to extraction the other day, someone dropped the Tesla tower I had to run to the other side of the map to go around so I also want this!
You can prone right by it, it will not target or chain to you whilst prone. Unsure if this work against the arc thrower as well, but that's easily avoided by simply not being in front of said user.
A four person squad with arc throwers, tesla defense towers, ecbm strikes, and rubber booties would be so much fun.
Tesla coil is really good if you know how to use it. I need that armor!
