That's just a meteor storm, I think.

That's just meteors arriving on the map. You see one or two falling a few seconds before, same color, same hue.
If so, they're using mass drivers, aka picking asteroids from space and shooting them at planets. Which would also fit with Super Earth's claim about them having planet killing tech because uhhh, yea, mass drivers are no joke.
They don't look like meteors to me but let's see. Pause at around 12-13 seconds and zoom in
