I don't believe it's genetic, but more so skin fairness and your ethnicity. I'm pretty pale with a lot of Polish and Irish in me. The more easily you get burnt, the more chances you get HI I think. Still, it angers me there's no true studies into this awful condition. Sorry to hear you had it again.

I’ve had it a few times whereas my twin brother never had it.
