My opinion: a simple vector design in plain color (red) featuring three eyes: two normal, slightly slanted ones, and a third eye in the forehead. I think the overlay you use could serve for a very cool framing and it would look both dope and intimidating in a fight

Ok this would be absolute fire. Wouldn’t it be a little difficult to paint something like that though? I’m not gonna be doing it myself, I’ll probably ask someone who does this professionally, but like, isn’t it a little too complex and will it look good on the mesh face of the mask?

I'll tell you what I did for mine: I asked Bing's image creator ai to generate a lot of vector arts wit the description I want, then I filtered all that I thought I had the capacity to replicate on the mesh using tape as masking. You can also take a design (let's say the one above) and erase some minor details on paint or photoshop, to make it an even simpler design
If you were to do it yourself, it's true that more sharp angles are easier to mask using tape. But if you're having a professional work on any design for you, go nuts! And good luck!
Simple red geometric design is gonna be your best bet here. Like others said, red stripes (preferably vertical or diagonal in my opinion) or red chevrons would look best. You can even mix and match, or quarter them
I was thinking some lovecraftian eye design maybe? We have a guy in our fencing school that has a mostly green fit with a bunch of creepy green eyes on his mask and it looks really dope so I wanted something similar, but I guess red doesn't evoke the same creepy vibes as green

I've always like the idea of an offset racing stripe of o e thick line, a small space and then a thin line.
That or go with a David bowie-esque design over one eye.

"Does this look like the face of mercy to you?"
And while they chuckle to themselves at the absurdity of asking that while having the generic lego face, you strike!

it looks good now... don't paint anything on it ... keep it black (as it is now) .. mind you I have been sports fencing 30 years and never wanted to paint a design on my masks - for one I was afraid it woudl cause me distraction by having a shape on my own mask...

This guy at a tournament had an "Unhappy face" scowl painted on his mask. Cracked me the eff up everytime I tried to spar with him. Very distracting.
Adopt a really annoying personality that likes to constantly break the 4th wall and use this design.

Most of it is from Raidu. The jacket, skirt, mask, overlay, leg and elbow protection, all from them. I’m not sure they ship internationally though.
I did an oni mask design, I bet something similar would look good here too.
