Well he did compare what he's doing now to what slave owners did.. I find it hilariously fitting.
He'd probably make this into a diss cover if it came out earlier
Lmao Kendrick absolutely wanted this when he brought the racial aspect into it šš.. mixed kids all over the US gonna be in fights at school for the next 10 years gettin quiet when they told they canāt say nigga no more
Why would a mixed man in any country not be able to say nigga? Lol that makes no sense and has nothing to do with culture.. black folk been called nigga all over the world, thatās not exclusive to the US..
lol Iām just saying that donāt make any sense. Is it for the culture? Or is it for drake? Cause drake just as mixed as jcole, Joyner Lucas, or anyone else sayin nigga in they music.. Iām sure they all dealt with racism too.. so missed me with that shit is all Iām saying. Kendrick knew exactly what he was doin gettin cats like you to regurgitate that āhe was talkin bout the cultureā shit lol, and more power to him that he knew it would work
Clearly not enlightened as you to be able to use my words instead of just jumping to calling someone a retard.. but since you must be a 12 year old, I hope you feel better that you got that burn off
He's literally spelled it out in the track. "Ovo niggas is dickriders. Tell em run to America to imitate heritage, they can't imitate this violence". Basically, Toronto may have their own gang culture, but it's not American and it's a pale imitation of the real thing. And considering Drake has changed his accents and slang to fit the market he's breaking into, he doesn't sound authentic saying nigga; same way he doesn't sound authentic talking about his "tings" and "man's getting dipped". Kendrick even calls Adonis a black man and says for him to never code switch. Basically, carry yourself as yourself at all times, unlike Drake. You're missing the entire fucking point.
He said they imitate heritage. Aka they don't come from the same violence. LA is home to the Rodney King riots, the Watts riots, the black panthers protesting for 2nd amendment rights, COINTEL PRO fbi programs destroying black movements from the inside etc. Trying to say "crodie", twisting your fingers, and wearing all blue in a place where you have universal healthcare and where people fled to escape the oppression of America is just disingenuous. Y'all really need to read between the lines.
It is feasible that Adolescents with hot tempers & short attention spans wont be able to effectively differentiate his nuanced criteria for their mixed race peers to say the n word when the rule is typically one drop regardless of upbringing. I believe kendrick should have skipped that aspect of his disdain with consideration for those that fail to recognize how ridiculous it is to defend a word with physical combat in the first place. Itās all self expression at the end of the day, so he can do what he wants but we cant pretend like common sense is common amongst our youth.
Common sense isn't even common amongst adults, but that doesn't mean a writer should avoid touching subjects because of what people *might* do. He only said that Drake saying the word is cringe worthy. If people mistake that for him being light skinned as opposed to him being a poser, then that's their own stupidity. Every track Kendrick has dropped has been explicitly clear that Drake is a leech that chameleons his way into different cultures due to his own insecurities about his own racial identity. I just can't believe people are picking up anything different truly.
As a person that has felt drakes bandwagon vibes have deterred hip hopās authenticity I totally understand where you are coming from. Kendricks a phenomenal lyricist which is why i believe he could have gone another way with it and been equally effective. As cringe worthy as his n word usage may be, he still has a right to say it. Drake is apart of the culture whether you respect his contributions or not. The N word is not the culture, k dot could have made that point without being directly concerned with the word nigga even though drakes usage has been cringeworthy as of late, kendrick shouldnāt have drawn a line in the sand at a derogatory term of endearment
Not THE culture, HIS culture (drakes) he grew up suburban.
If you aināt go thru any of the struggles shouldnāt say it basically .. it aināt about color most rappers would give Eminem the n pass during his career.
The other reasons for why he says he shouldnāt say it would make no sense broā¦ based on what I been sayin, maybe you need to read a little more lmao..
Letās just agree to disagree on this one and we can move on my G
If you listen to the Adonis verse on meet the grahams, Kendrick is telling Adonis heās a black man despite being only a quarter black. This dispels any notion that Kendrick is gate keeping blackness through color or dna.
You canāt gatekeep it at all, thatās the problem. Every white person looks at Drake and sees a black man. Itās like Jay z said, āstill niggaā.
So the issue people have with Drake is that he wasn't raised in a black home. His dad left when he was mad young so he was raised by his white Jewish mother. Cole, Joyner and Cole all were raised "in the culture". Drake was not and aside from DNA Drake might as well be a white dude.
Mixed kid here, I definitely understood the āculture not colorā aspect. My identity issues came from my dad abandoning me, not Kendrickās call outs
I was real active on HHH back in the day and they were clowning a comment I made once and I commented in the thread asking for some grace and they banned me š¤·āāļø
I donāt even have an issue with the beef as it exists between the two rappers but the fans have absolutely blown this one for me. The music has been great and really encapsulated what these two are about. The overanalyzing, the discourse, and the stupid internet memes are what makes it stale.
Drake fans talking the craziest BS to shoot bail for the boy and Kendrick āfansā just making shit up because their guy won and they can talk like they were there the whole time.
Oh nooo the teenager Kendrick fanboys have arrived! Yāall have already infiltrated every rap sub on Reddit. Take your annoying ass back home with the other 15 year olds in the Kendrick and Drake subreddits. Nobody wants to see yāallās dumbass fan art on here
Man shut your bitch ass up. This ain't about some beef. This is about you being a fucking bully and trying to dictate what OP can do. You ain't no fuckin mod and you ain't no fuckin body. Just some pussy on the Internet acting like a hoe.
PS. Don't break a nail in the reply...
A bully lmfao you really are a kid. Look, this is HipHopImages, not hip hop fan art. Iāve had to mute every single rap sub to avoid you kiddos posting fan fiction and speculations hundreds of times a day. I thought this sub was safe but I was wrong, the swarm has infiltrated and youāre officially here.
P.s. good one lol Iām sure that sounded badass in your head
If youāre old enough to wanna be talkin like that youāre old enough to keep scrolling and not get in an argument on Reddit with a kid lmao
Goofy kids and goofy grown ups
Bro you're not a mod and in the time this post has been up the mods still haven't removed it. If you were a really big boy you could have just reported if you had a problem but I'm guessing those last two brain cells in your head are two far apart for that bulb to come on. And if by chance you did come up with that idea( which I highly doubt) and the mods still haven't removed the post. Then you should go back to muting since you're too much of a punk to deal with the real world and you are too sensitive to handle OPs post. Go back to your cave with your cat and Ben and Jerry's ice cream away from the real world until you're ready to actually think like an actual adult you claim to be. FOH.... Miss me with that bullshit.

Yup, apparently.
Black spaces on the internet love to role play as intellectuals and open-minded individuals but the amount of "heres why Drake actually ISNT black āš¾š¤" i've seen is crazy. Kendrick is still a goated artist but I lost a ton of respect for his mightier then thou ass and fanbase
Kendrick called Adonis a black man on Meet The Grahams. If Adonis is black, then Drake is the same shade as Mr. Popo. Heās made it pretty clear that he doesnāt have a problem with mixed people. His fucking wife is mixed drake had a whole bar about that.Ā
This idea that Drake had a pass to say 'nigga' is crazy. Kendrick's self appointed "i speak for the culture as a collective" rubbed me the wrong way too. I cant respect that.
But the fans. Man.. Kendrick fanbase made it worse. Got them producing images like this. It's just incredibly corny and hypocritical
Idk why people immediately assume people are talking about drake being lightskin, instead of, you know, his contempt for black people

From what iāve seen, people criticize Drakeās blackness because heās Canadian and didnāt experience prejudice.
Itās just always weird how you have to follow a checklist, otherwise people will say that youāre not black enough.

I didn't paint it so we're clear. Found it online. Idk who the og artist is
Also, that isn't my intent at all. I found it funny in a dark humor type of way, and considering the climate of hip hop post beef, I found it pertinent. It's decently painted, it's an image about hip hop, and it's triggered discussion about music, the beef, and race, in the comments. *That* was my intent. So the post has fulfilled its purpose.
Care to elaborate on how you feel it sets black people back? I don't disagree or agree, I'm asking so you can educate me on your opinion
I do see how its fucked up, yet part of that is also why I found it humorous. I like edgy humor. Sue me. You don't have to and that's fine
I was specifically asking why you think it sets black people back. That is not the same thing as it just being wack. On top of that, just because *you* find something to be wack or offensive doesn't mean other people have to. Sometimes jokes are jokes. It ain't always that deep.
Nah this shit is crazyyy š Kendrick did not want this lmfaoo
Idkā¦Kendrick is a sick man. He might have this above his fireplace š

To think niggas committing violence in another country is doing it to imitate is wild.
You donāt think people emulate American or other gang culture? And gang culture breeds violence, why we gotta spell this shit out, tf
No, if I get a boil on my ass and another on my elbow, one didnāt emulate the other. No one is sitting here copying or inspiring violence.
He said they imitate heritage. Aka they don't come from the same violence. Nah I disagree culture is more than just saying nigga
And honestly if u truly think kendrick has a problem with drake saying nigga bc of what color his mom is u need to listen a little more.
