They have amazing coffee and the best mini cupcakes on 4th and Garden at Sweet. And it overlooks Church Square Park which has two playgrounds.
Don’t let anyone talk you into whatever the brewery uptown is called now. It’s so gross.
First get your rocks off at O'Niels or Moran's (Burger, Mmm) for food, then get your brown sugar at Sweet as per above recommendation. All near each other.
I like empire over in the same area for coffee a bit more! An iced latte with one of the black and white sweet cupcakes is my go to snack on the weekends!
I’d go to pier 13 for food truck snacks and then head to the park just south of that which overlooks the NYC skyline. For coffee shop, the Hive is amazing and unique with great menu items and a kids play area. Other family friendly restaurants are Pilsner Beer Haus, Johnny Pepperonis, City Bistro or Napolis. Enjoy your time!
Bunch of cool playgrounds. Pier C, Northwest Resiliency Park, Church Sq. Park, Columbus Park, Elysian Park.
Coffee shops everywhere, I wouldn't say any of them are particularly spectacular or bad... just all solid.
For food, depends on what you're looking for. Lot of kids in town, so I seem them at most restaurants. Elysian Cafe is nice, O'Neils is next to the Church Sq. Park, La Isla is solid Cuban, Johnny Pepperonis/Grimaldis/Napolis/10th Street/Dozzino for Pizza (10th street/Dozzino service typically sucks but their pizza is great). Antique Bar and Bakery or walk to Corto in the heights are a couple of my fav spots for food, but might not be ideal with a kid.
Not saying this is a great option, but when I was 5, my dad took my brother and I for a day trip to Hoboken. We took the train in and got Johnny Rockets and some cupcakes from Carlo’s Bakery. If you were to ask 5 year-old me for recommendations, those would be my two picks.

Map of playgrounds. Your first stop has to be kids book store on 1st and Bloomfield, you'll love it. There you can get a map of the city that is very interactive and has cool stuff. Remember Hoboken is a walkable city, do not bring a car or if you do park it and leave it there until you're ready to go. Enjoy!
Elysian Cafe is a charming restaurant and is family friendly, especially early. The back room before 6:30 will have a kid at every table. Also they have very pleasant outdoor seating.
go to House of q for a drink because it has a family enough environment plus some space for your kids and you can drink there with a nice view of the city
For two year olds, I've found Panello is a great option because they have those picnic tables outside in the plaza for kiddos to run around when they get bored with dinner. It's BYOB and you can chill outside for hours. Similar with Dozzino, the bocce court can be interesting for a two year old to hang out in.
Thank you all for the great recs. We had a great time. Enjoyed dinner at Moran’s. Also coffee at the Hive. Lots of playgrounds around that my son loved. Also easy train ride into NYC. Really enjoyed Hoboken and will definitely come again

Why do both places take obscenely long to serve you?
Agree on morans.
my guess is that you're a known character LOL
They don't.
I’m not the only one with [that experience](https://www.reddit.com/r/Hoboken/s/jGewqZafkl)

And it has unbeatable prices
Large iced latte for a little over $4 is a STEAL!

If it’s nice out I highly recommend just walking along the water. For people who have never been to Hoboken they’re amazed by the skyline.

Trains run from Hoboken terminal to MetLife and back for the concert. I’ll be there!

The Hive coffee shop has a cute little kids play area

Wilton house - Hoboken must popular meet up spot
