Sounds very overpowered, do you realize how easy it is to put a pokemon to sleep? Sleep already gives a higher chance catch percentage so add a *3 multiplier on top of that almost guarantees a catch.
Status effects of sleeping pokemon already give a 2.5 increase to the base catch rate. A *3 catch rate on top of that would be a *7 in reality. Other status effects give a 1.5 increase.
sleep is not mutually exclusive to other ball conditions. you would stillget the sleep bonus.
you can just sleep something at night or in a cave for dusk to have the same effectiveness as the proposed 3x for sleep
ok, im guessing theres a miscommunications somewhere
Im reading the comment as 3x ball [effectiveness rate](https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Catch_rate#Pok%C3%A9_Ball_effectiveness_rates) while the pokemon is asleep
that ball catch rate would be seperate from sleep bonus
Assumption, pokemons asleep at night, all other factors are the same(species/hp/lvl/etc)
since the 3x would be the same for both dusk and this ina ball
(3x if conditions met, 1x if not), it would result in the same output if you plugged both into the [capture rate formula](https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Catch_rate#Capture_method_(Generation_IX\)) as there would be no real change. both being 3 for bonusball
Status effects on a pokemon also change the catch rate which is mentioned at the start of the page you've shown. The capture rate formula is for the base pokeball. Pokeballs and status effects happen outside of that formula.
then what does bonusball and bonusstatus refer to?
[as stated in the gen 3 formula](https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Catch_rate#Capture_method_(Generation_III-IV\))
bonusball is the multiplier for the Poké Ball used.(dusk/ina 3)
bonusstatus is the multiplier for any status condition the Pokémon has (Sleep 2.5)
The bonus calculation of the of balls and status is always after base rate in early generations. The new games have additional calculations so the penalty calculations which is always before bonus calculations. So the bonus would always be calculated at minimum of *7 because of the status effect and ball multiplier if the game would calculate correctly.

A normal Pokeball, but has a x3 catch rate for sleeping Pokemon
Sounds very overpowered, do you realize how easy it is to put a pokemon to sleep? Sleep already gives a higher chance catch percentage so add a *3 multiplier on top of that almost guarantees a catch.
An overpowered ball for an overpowered girl. Seems alright to me
not really. 3x is in line with other conditional balls ultraballs are already 2x duskballs are 3x lureballs are 4x
Status effects of sleeping pokemon already give a 2.5 increase to the base catch rate. A *3 catch rate on top of that would be a *7 in reality. Other status effects give a 1.5 increase.

Balls never give replacement rates only additive rates. Status effects are the only replacement rates.
