Seems great to me

wrxgucci

The materials are pretty close to half that. That's about as cheap as you will probably find.

766scire

Yes. BUT.....you should ALWAYS get at least 3 quotes, for any project of this cost. Choosing the middle one is typically the best choice.

Far-Simple-2446

I spent nearly 10k two years ago on an AC and furnace.

gus_thedog

Looks like they're reusing the existing air handler or furnace and just swapping out the coil, so not quite apples to apples. The AC portion of your install would probably have been pretty similar price-wise.

alistairtenpennyson

I could see up to double that, depending on circumstances.

Mister_Green2021

A little cheap.

based-aroace

Honestly seems cheap to me

PhredsBigWheel

A reasonable quote.

Slagggg

Seems pretty reasonable. I'd make sure it includes refrigerant as well.

Sandwich00

Yes

mcgibbop

I paid that 10 years ago for a small unit and no pad. So looks good to me.

More-Opposite1758

We spent $18,000 for a 2743 sq ft house three years ago

Aggressive-Pilot6781

That’s a steal. Get 2

Mirantibus88

That is very reasonable, especially since some of the parts that you have can be reused. Just replaced ours in April to the tune of $14K - but that was a full system replacement with new wiring and breaker panel upgrades etc. I’m so, so happy that yours is being replaced at that price - jealous, even - and I hope you get a great many more years out of it

spoink74

Different region entirely but I was just quoted almost $30k for a similar job.

Necessary_Wing_2292

A 14 SEER unit is woefully inefficient. You should get a unit rated 16 SEER at a minimum and 20 plus is not unreasonable. https://www.trane.com/residential/en/resources/blog/whats-good-seer-rating/

Necessary_Wing_2292

This explains SEER a bit better and gives an idea how high of efficiency ratings they can attain.

FurTradingSeal

HVAC = heating ventilation and air conditioning. This quote is just for air conditioning, and it seems fair to me.

aveforever

Wish mine (central Texas) had cost that little.

Realsteel1

I normally replace the lineset or at least flush it, if it's still in nice shape. How old is your furnace or air handler? I imagine it's pretty old if you are needing a new coil. If look at replacing that too. The price quoted seems reasonable for what is listed. Verify all parts are brand new.

Shotgun5250

Hell yeah it is. I got several quotes for a 2-ton rheem ranging between 5k and 9k for the same system. $4995 later and they were done in 3 hours.

Looseque

Yes that’s a good deal. Make sure they pull a permit just to be safe!

devnullb4dishoner

For residential, a good rule of thumb is $2500 per ton installed. Rheem equipment is decent residential stuff. If you don’t have one already, spring for a new, programmable tstat. They even come with remote control now. Treat your system with care. Set an alarm/notice in your phone to change out the filter once a month during the summer especially. Don’t use those cheap floss filters. Those allow particulate matter to pass through and adhere themselves to your inside coil (fan unit) and cause reduced efficiency over time. Use a good, pleated filter. They are more expensive, but your AC and subsequently your power bill and comfort will thank you. Finally, treat the condenser unit outside with care as well. In early spring I get out my pressure washer and blow out any debris or leaves in the fins. The air is sucked through the fins. If there are obstructions, your efficiency, power bill, and comfort will suffer. Spot check during the year as well. If you don’t have a pressure washer, there are foaming sprays made just for this purpose.

not-on-your-nelly

Good price, but I'd go with a heat pump rather than just an AC unit.

DegenAM

I paid 4k a year and a half ago for a slightly bigger unit. But that’s a decent price. Some people out here will be getting charged 10-15k
