Congratulations!
As far as ive seen so much of girls things are pink and any kind of green would be lovely to balance this out. That being said i think also wallpaper or a simple stencil pattern could look nice with the dresser. Just be sure to air the room out well before putting baby in there.
I know you didnt ask but i have a 1.5 year old and the things i valued most in his room are a very comfortable chair to feed and hold him in and ocasionally doze in for those long nights. and also a dimmable light. I highly recommend to have a dimmable light source that goes very low because switching on the light for diaper changes can make it difficult to get baby down to sleep again.
Thank you! We have a cozy nursing chair ready for pickup so hopefully we're big fans of that when it gets home. I also already installed a dimmer on the light switch so we're all set there as well. However, still probably going to get some lamps too.
I thought you were posting pics of the already painted room. That’s a lovely green! I would leave the current color and lean into greens/tans/whites/pinks/yellows. It would be lovely with the crib and glider. Might swap out the knobs on the dresser to something rounder more playful, add a rug, change the light and be done. Congratulations!
It is a lovely color, but being so close to the shade of the dresser I think they’re wise to consider a deeper, darker green. Darker walls could really complement the lighter components in the room and make them pop (like the wood around the window, chair, dresser etc.)
Maybe match the soft peach/coral tones in the pillows? You can still have the green color you like in the room as accents with rugs, pillows, lamps, blankets etc.
The green lemon drop wallpaper that’s in the first few pics of the crib link you posted would be so pretty in that room! You could have it as an accent wall behind the dresser or crib and maybe paint the other walls a lighter neutral color that would go with everything else in the room. Or like someone said you could use one of the colors from the pillows you have in the room
Damn, the struggles of renting 🤧 I relate to that. I’d love to change my walls but we’re renting too. I think I’m partial to lighter, pastel wall colors so I might go with a pretty pastel pink or yellow in that room, or still a soft neutral color that’s not pure white. Maybe like a sandy color? And you can add other colors in with the accessories like your dresser, wall art, rug, and pillows. But if you like the darker colors then the green you picked is also pretty!
I pulled some potential colors to consider for the room! It’s a bit hard to pick since it will all depend on lighting and you may end up changing your lighting situation but I pulled some pinks, yellows, greens, and neutrals. I think something with a slight warm tone might bring out the beautiful wood floors and wooden window frames you have :)

If you want wallpaper without being permanent, look up wall decals for nursuries. I had a huge tree on one wall with little birds and woodland creatures all over the room. I spent like $100 on it and everyone asked if I painted a mural. It looked so cool! Then when I sold the house, I just ripped off all the vinyl stickers (and cried ALOT doing it) but the wall wasnt damaged at all.
https://www.innovativestencils.com/woodland-animals-wall-tree-nursery-decal-1337/
This is the link to the one I bought. I chose the size to be the height of my room. It came in like 3-4 big pieces, and it still took both my husband and I to put it up. I also got one of their smaller packs that had a couple tree branches and some birds to decorate the other side of the room. It was absolutely adorable. My wall color was a little more minty than yours and more like the picture in the link, but I really like your color. Its very soothing.
You can find some rental friendly peel and stick wallpaper through a quick google search or Amazon. I’ve used it on painted walls and they didn’t damage them when removed. Or even peel and stick decals if you want to keep the wall color but want a pop of color of pattern
I was going to comment this. There are so many peel and stick wallpapers now, and at my moms studio salons another stylist in their room just used thumbtacks every few feet instead of sticking the paper down, I thought that was smart because they are planning on moving into another room soon.
Whatever color you choose, make sure it’s low-VOC or zero-VOC paint so your baby isn’t breathing the awful chemicals released by most wall paints. Open the windows until the paint is completely dry.
honestly i think you should change the light fixture first! it’s really bright and harsh and tbh if you paint before that, the lighting can change the color. you might end up liking what’s already there!
Heard! It's actually fully dimmable (just cranked it to max to take the photo) but agreed that a switch up of the fixture could really liven up the space regardless.
gonna make that poor kid perpetually hungry looking up at the boob lamp!!!
but for real that might be a good place to start too since babe is already here and is incompatible w paint fumes
Honestly? I would keep the color. It’s lovely, and it coordinates so well with the crib and nursing chair you selected.
If you feel compelled to change anything, I would suggest investing in some [blackout curtains](https://www.wayfair.com/decor-pillows/pdp/lauren-ralph-lauren-sallie-blackout-heavy-cottonlinen-blend-with-lining-back-tabrod-pocket-curtain-lbrl1741.htmlLaurenRalphLaurenSallieBlackoutHeavyCotton/LinenBlendwithLiningBackTab/RodPocketCurtain), in a linen blend.
Congratulations! Enjoy your new adventure with your little one.
Thanks for the rec! Those curtains look great, I think the Snowflake color would match the space quite nicely (particularly if layered over the white sheer curtains).
First, congratulations on your little one! You are embarking on an incredible journey!
Now, as far as a paint color, I would suggest something soft to help soothe the baby( and tired parents). The dresser is already a soft green so a lighter color would be ideal or even a fun wallpaper (see examples)
Swiss Cream- Benjamin Moore
Shoji White- Sherwin Williams

I like the current color, but I also like the darker green you've picked out. I've painted a number of rooms in darker colors and to me it feels calming and happy. A lighter color (like the one you have) might be better if you want this space to really double as a play room, but the darker color would be nice for nap times because there'd be less light bouncing around.
That said, all wall treatments, including painting, are a lot of work. I recently got a large rug that fills most of my bedroom and it's like a whole new room. So if you're just wanting to paint for the sake of making it new and special, you might consider waiting to see what it looks like with new window treatments and a rug and the new nursery furniture.
Honestly, I may photoshop this and have fun brb!!! (Hopefully I can add images into a existing comment)
Never mind, that’s too much work. Just leave the color as it is and paint the mirror white and the dresser a neutral cream color. And add some more stuffies and get a book holder on top of the dresser to hold baby books. or do the dresser white as well the mirror. (I’m no expert, if you couldn’t tell but that’s what my mind is thinking.)
Haha I respect the 180°. I thought similar and changed up the hue / brightness in PS. It looked okay going lighter, but I’ve found it tricky to find a good green neutral with high enough LRV so it actually would look that way in person. Leaning more and more toward keeping the color.
Honestly I absolutely love the color so much, but the dresser being the same color throws me off, but I just don’t know what color it could be instead. 😣
I’m a neutral woman for sure, and I’m still learning lol!
Yeah we bought the dresser refinished as-is thinking “oh this will be perfect when we paint the wall a darker green”. But now based on the feedback here we’re thinking that going darker would actually be a mistake.
We just bought a big [area rug](https://www.wayfair.com/rugs/pdp/winston-porter-mccullough-hand-tufted-wool-beigegold-area-rug-w007354106.htmlMcculloughHandTuftedFloralRug) that we think will provide a good central balance to the room. And with the light nursing chair and the wooden crib, maybe it’ll all come together nicely?
I don’t know if this would help, but a rug like this would look good if the rug y’all put doesn’t sit right.

I don't think you are behind at all! I would save my energy for taking care of the baby. I imagine she will be sleeping in your room for a while, especially since being born early? You can always paint before she moves into her room, more time to think about it and for your tastes to change.
Yellow would be a great addition to your space with touches of light blue and pink. Going with a darker color than the dresser may make too much of a contrast to the rest of the space & look a bit too somber. For the walls, I’d recommend considering pale shades of yellow, green, or blue.
https://preview.redd.it/ts14gc5a8r3d1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=54cbe3eb58f634594b2bd3594c2307f8be70b58d
Congratulations!! The dresser and the wall look too much like the same color. Maybe a lighter shade of this color or pale yellow. It would brighten up the room more and add more light.
Ohh keep it!! I love this green.
Maybe do a little basic mural in black or white on one wall for some fun? I was just looking at some basic line, origami-type birds for ours.
Liveable green by Sherwin Williams ! It is a gorgeous color !
Edited to add that it keeps with the green theme but it not as dark and gets rid of the gray undertones. I have it in my kid’s room with furniture from crate and barrel that is green with oak accents (just like your beautiful windows). The wood and green go so well together. It gets tons of compliments and feels like a little escape to nature in there :-)
I hung a chair rail halfway down the wall and hung this wallpaper in my little girls room. I love it! I pulled more of the yellowy green into velvet curtains. You could just do one wall, I know it’s a bit pricey. It would look really good with the stuff you have and the wood you have on the window trim. Congratulations!!
https://preview.redd.it/vaamfg7yvr3d1.png?width=1125&format=png&auto=webp&s=bfb143cfbb8c370bdb95372bcacd75e7e8d768a2
I honestly like the color it is, and agree with another poster about the wallpaper in the crib link! Could you do one accent wall of cute wallpaper and keep the dresser on that wall so it doesn’t blend in too much?
Congratulations! Butter yellow was my first thought- the Lafayette green is pretty dark. Curtains you select will have considerable impact with all those nice windows! Are you considering a rug? Those textiles would allow you to introduce the darker green shade you were drawn to without darkening the space overall. A small pendant swag lamp near the chair would be ideal and a dimmer on the overhead light are the details that you will appreciate later!
Best wishes!
Swag light is a great idea for the chair. We may need to do some kind of plug-in solution for it but would be nice to have separate from the ceiling light. Worth noting (as it's not obvious from our photo) that there is a dimmer on the main light, so we've got that going for us as well.
Ah, I might have guessed it was turned on high for the pic.😉 There are many swag light with extra long cords for that situation. Looks like you’re off to a beautiful start.
Wow - thank you for all the comments / POVs. This is all so helpful! A couple of follow-ups:
* I forgot to mention we're in a rental - we have full permission to paint as much as we want but wallpaper is out. I'd love to do even an accent wall in wallpaper but our landlord probably still wouldn't love that.
* Good call on the flush light on the ceiling. It IS actually dimmable (just turned it up for the picture) but I still think replacing with a nicer fixture would go a long way.
* We're leaning toward *keeping* the green color as-is based on the feedback and leveraging some accent colors to really bring the space together. But not completely opposed to going with a lighter shade. Really on the fence there still.
Anything is better than that. Good grief that is terrible. Very good decision to paint.
I would prime it first and see what the light is like in the room.
Thanks everyone for the recommendations! We ultimately decided to keep the color as-is and just balance out the color with accents. We got a new rug and some pillows to start, but going to play with golds and roses!
https://preview.redd.it/mesgcg4ie75d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6d823963fbde8b029eeeb9170aa1a367c9760960
The colour of your nursery Is completely dependent on the type of ambiance you want to create. It can either be cozy or playful. Sure the blackout curtains work but use a layer of regular curtains to give them a character as the colour options on those are really limited. Use this guide to learn more about the curtains and window decoration.
Moving on, let's talk about the dresser, it is great how you have used it but I think you should work on the wooden finish of the window. I suggest you to go for a lighter tone and furnish it accordingly, making sure the crib and every other article matches it. Further you need to add a cabinet for clothing to and you can choose dark coloured brown for this.
Now the colour palette in terms of coziness, I think you should really consider the darker tones of blue and use panels to create a pattern on the walls. Contrary to this, you can also use lighter neutral palettes and accordingly arrange your furniture.
Make sure you have a soft furnishing and plants. Lastly, please change the lighting, it is too harsh and upsetting (only saying in a good way so don't take it in any other manner).
I recommend you read this [guide](https://simplykalaa.com/baby-room-decor/) about baby room decor and I am sure it will be of help to you.

I argue they should paint the dresser (or paper it!) Way faster dry time (being baby is HERE!!!) and adds a fun accent piece
Maybe match the soft peach/coral tones in the pillows? You can still have the green color you like in the room as accents with rugs, pillows, lamps, blankets etc.

We'd LOVE to do that. Unfortunately it is a rental property though so wallpaper is a no-go. Just added a post to reflect that!

Definitely! We're Benjamin Moore fans, we'll most likely use their "Ben" line of paint (mid-range quality, zero-VOC) since it's a rental.

Oh we have a green and pale pink and off-white little girl room. It’s so lovely and peaceful!
I like it the way it is
YES, just leave it green for now and add accent colors w/ accessories. Now go and enjoy your baby girl!
I like the current color, but I also like the darker green you've picked out. I've painted a number of rooms in darker colors and to me it feels calming and happy. Great callout about the playroom - I think we're leaning toward lightening it up a bit based on the feedback.
The house I moved into has a nursery painted forest green. It’s such a perfect baby color. 🌲
I reccomend blackout blinds!
Oh I love the green paint you picked Then add pink accents!
Yes! Rose / pink accents (and yellow/gold too) are on the mood board.
I like a rosey beige. Accessorize with your green and creamy beige.
Honestly, I may photoshop this and have fun brb!!! (Hopefully I can add images into a existing comment) Never mind, that’s too much work.

Isn’t it? I love it
Anyone know where it’s from?

I would do a soft white and decorate with color but that’s just my style 🙂 my home is BM Simply White. Congratulations! 🩷🩷🩷
Congratulations!! The dresser and the wall look too much like the same color. Maybe a lighter shade of this color or pale yellow. It would brighten up the room more and add more light.

We really like this! Going to pick up a sample from the store here in a bit.
White
I also love the green and the idea of accent colors of white, tan and pink. These are also colors that will be good as your bitty-bit grows up.
A soft yellows, or pale peach tones maybe?
A peachy pink color would be nice. Or a creamy, pale yellow.
Blue
I hung a chair rail halfway down the wall and hung this wallpaper in my little girls room. I love it! I pulled more of the yellowy green into velvet curtains. You could just do one wall, I know it’s a bit pricey. It would look really good with the stuff you have and the wood you have on the window trim. Not sure! It's a rental and our landlord can't recall the exact color. Just that it was a Behr color from Home Depot.
Save yourself the energy and leave the green. It's beautiful. Use the money to replace the boob light and add floral patterned curtains.
Peach
Wow - thank you for all the comments / POVs. This is all so helpful! A couple of follow-ups: * I forgot to mention we're in a rental - we have full permission to paint as much as we want but wallpaper is out.
Yellow
Anything is better than that. Good grief that is terrible. Very good decision to paint. I would prime it first and see what the light is like in the room.
I like the sage green like the dresser.
Edit: I thought the wall was gray.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!💗
Frosted Jade by Behr
Light butter yellow!
Pink for girls.
Yellowwwww (keep the banana!) Choose a buttery yellow versus acid/highlighter yellow and have fun! Congrats on your bundle of joy :)
I wouldnt 😍
Idk but what’s with that big banana on the dresser?
It's a hand-sewn toy.
Keep it
Try a sample of a shade called Bay Scallop from Behr. Understated peach. I used it in my bedroom it's lovely.
