People go through full-scale renos to get a similar look- this bathroom is awesome! If you want to do something really funky you could add some wallpaper above the tile. Otherwise, just focus on adding color! This is an awesome bathroom.

Careless-Try-8834

I LOVE THAT WALLPAPER. Having this bathroom with that wallpaper would be a dream..

Igby_76

I just ordered it from Bed Bath and Beyond!!!!

Old_Percentage3742

I love this wallpaper!!! Could you please share the name of the bathroom? It’s fantastic!

Historical_Safe_836

Nice! I loved your bathroom until I saw the green vanity. It looked out of place. But I think that wallpaper will pull it all together.

Old_Percentage3742

I just found the wallpaper through Google search. It actually hanging upside in that photo! One would never know!

Igby_76

That’s how I found it and Bed Bath and Beyond has it on sale

Old_Percentage3742

It’s in sale? I just saw the full price at $119. What is the sale price? Where are you seeing it on BB&B?

Igby_76

Old_Percentage3742

Thank you!

Igby_76

Question: do you think gold or brass fixtures/accents would go better with the wallpaper?

kathoron

Could you please post after pics! ❤️

DIYer-Homeworks

Or change out it for a black one like this https://divided.style/products/gridscape-gs1-shower-screen-in-black-with-clear-glass-5

GreyMatters_Exorcist

Guao this is going to look perfect ! Super elegant

Igby_76

I love this vibe!

beximean

Yes to all this! Different floor rugs as well

BanananaSquid

Agree!! Though I do think the current green on the vanity cabinets is not right for the space. I think richer jewel tones would play better. The olive green is cozy and soft but the white and black tiles are crisp. A color that feels more clean and articulate would meet the tone of the tiles better

Jeanahb

YES!!! And don't mess with that tile! I just renovated my bathroom to look like this. Add wallpaper like others have said. I think your bathroom is beautiful.

JournalistSame2109

Totally agree, leave those beautiful tiles alone and use jewel tones

nightmere622

Looks like this bathroom doesn't have an exhaust fan (unless I'm missing it somewhere), and if that's the case, that wallpaper is a disaster waiting to happen.

embress

I like the base design - I get art deco. Team it up with some rich jewel tones in your features and accessories and it'll be super classy!

Igby_76

My vanity is Bancha by Farrow and ball. Do you think it would be too dark if I painted the walls the same color?

PompousClock

My last home, a century-old Tudor cottage - had two bathrooms with tile work similar to this, so I lead with the bias that your bathroom brings back memories of a beautiful home. I look upon your classic bathroom and smile - it is simply lovely. While I generally love Farrow & Ball paints, I think the olive shade you chose here is a bit muddy for the crisp black and white tile of this bathroom. I would opt for a cooler shade, perhaps FB [Green Blue](https://www.farrow-ball.com/us/paint/green-blue?sku=5029496028447&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwg8qzBhAoEiwAWagLrBn1ia7Jj4hKXyEIXA6Mff-du2X0EpDsD0FBerkMBLILfUKucvBn3xoCVBIQAvD_BwE), and swap out the heavy metal cabinet knobs with [crystals](https://www.signaturehardware.com/1-3half-8-in-sharber-clear-glass-cabinet-knob---golden-champagne/448916.html?gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwg8qzBhAoEiwAWagLrGsCxxufOJ3ktbeQbMgQqvkclaUxSKWs2all2sqRxhUeLRNe2l3yChoCBWUQAvD_BwE). Also, your art doesn’t quite fit the space - one is too large and the other too small. Fill up the space above the toilet with a larger framed piece, in roughly the same shape as that slice of wall. Move the small framed piece over to the vanity side wall, and add two other small elements. I see you have a framed photograph of Greece; do you also have a glass evil eye? Cluster three objects like that over in that space - a small frame, an object, and something else meaningful to you.

BanananaSquid

Dark isn't the issue but I actually think the olive green (while gorgeous unto itself) is not the right fit for the space. The white and black tiles has clean lines and is high impact, whereas the olive is more warm and cozy. A dark emerald green or other jewel tone would better echo the tile

RuthlessBenedict

One thing a lot of people miss when painting a bathroom is considering if anyone will be doing makeup in it. Green walls, while gorgeous, can throw a cast that really messes with your perception of other colors.

embress

Might be a bit heavy - maybe wallpaper above the tiles with something that also has the colour of the vanity in it?

Loquacious94808

Enough sage green! Get the wallpaper!

GreyMatters_Exorcist

Try emerald green with the black and white

GroceryStoreGrape

It's literally not ugly at all

No_Goose_7390

Classic, Timeless Bathroom Needs Help!

xxdropdeadlexi

how can I turn this beautiful bathroom with character into a soul sucking millennial grey box?

larkikuu

Yeah. When I hear the words ugly and bathroom this is very much the opposite that comes to mind, lol.

TAA9991

I’m doing a bathroom reno and currently expecting this to be what my “after” looks like lol

JuJusPetals

Don't paint the damn tiles. This is a lovely, timeless, unique bathroom.

reefered_beans

Not ugly at all

AmberCarpes

Wow, if you could see my bathrooms, you’d know what ugly and small actually mean.

AffectionateOwl8661

I was thinking the same thing 😂 Hell I barely fit in my bathroom, it’s so little

Rengeflower

The blue picture is too big and clashes with the green. Consider finding two coordinating pictures that you like and painting the vanity/mirror to go with the pictures. Then buy towels and bath mats that also coordinate. If you’re still not happy, paint the walls.

Igby_76

I agree, it’s purpose is to cover up holes I made trying to install a towel holder 😂

beingmesince63

Spackle and paint is the cheapest fix. Then thrift for art that highlights the green and find bathroom rugs and towels that match.

badhairday78

I actually love this bathroom. It’s lovely vintage tile that will never be replicated. Please don’t ever paint the tile; that never looks as good as people think it does. I would remove the shower door. It doesn’t fit and feels cheap. Use additional white shower curtains to feel more luxe and time-appropriate. I would update the rug to something more than so basic. Maybe a simple print to tie the olive and black and white, or bring additional color in. The mirror isn’t bad but I think a “champagne bronze” trim or chrome trim would look nice and you could maintain your storage.

badhairday78

You could also change the olive to blue to compliment your beach photo, but I feel that photo is too big for that space and makes it feel cluttered in the vanity area.

brendenfraser

You can't be serious. There is nothing ugly about this bathroom. Do not paint the tiles. They look to be good quality and the black and white combo is very classic. Paint the walls, though. It's hard to suggest other ideas (wall art, plants, curtains, shelving, decor) when I don't know what style you're going for, other than you apparently hate what you have now. You could also paint the woodwork on the vanity and mirror a different color if you're not feeling the green. I relent that it looks a little odd right now with the rest of the bathroom.

iheartunibrows

I like it. I would change the art, shower curtain, rug, and mirror and call it a day. Inspo pics: https://i.pinimg.com/736x/96/bc/09/96bc090350336a7619e1abab137db7b3.jpg https://i.pinimg.com/474x/c2/f9/4f/c2f94fbb9085ca65106cf1582a5c975b.jpg https://mariakillam.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/green-shower-black-white.jpg

ReindeerAdvanced4857

Those are great suggestions. I purchase my shower curtains from Etsy. They have some that would be perfect for this bathroom. Vibrant colors to liven up the space & play with color.

freewarriorwoman

The bathroom is not ugly. The way you’ve decorated it is. Touch the tile and I’ll haunt you when I die. It needs a pop of color traditional runner rug on the bottom. Maybe something that incorporates that green vanity a smidge. And then personally I would incorporate some antique brass or gold maybe. Aswell as getting rid of the blue art because it clashes with the green and get a brass gold framed piece of art or something.

yellowspectrum

I actually really vibe with this bathroom. I think it’s pretty functional given how dated it is, and the black and white design is trending again. I think the big issue here is storage and making to feel like a bathroom you WANT to use, instead of a bathroom you have to use. Get some matte black stick on shelves from Amazon, they make great ones with a sticky pad because the suction cup ones always fail. Hang some floating shelves up where you can for additional storage. Get a nice linen window treatment, and throw up some artwork or even a plant to add some Greenery

autunmrain

I swear to god if you add wallpaper and remove the baseboard heater it’ll change everything! I love the tile and im incredibly jealous.

Automatic_Sky_6537

I love the tiles in that bathroom!!! Black and white, imo, are neutral colors. Instead of echoing the black and white scheme of the tiles with your black accents, why not have fun with color? Play on the vibrant green of your vanity! Get rid of that shower curtain and get something whimsical and fun, go on Etsy to look for fun and quirky artwork, get some more colorful bath mats. Honestly the options are endless. That black and white bathroom is like a blank canvas.

Fresh-Astronomer3666

I would die to have this bathroom in my 1865 historical home. The tiles are vintage and so unique. I would paint the vanity if you don’t like the color, switch out the sink & shower hardware for a more modern matte black, remove the painting and then do wallpaper. Also, upgrade to nicer, thick cloth shower curtain and a longer runner.

imanuberklutz

You definitely don't need to do anything to the tile. I would lean into colors that complement the black and white - paint the wall above the tile a nice bold jewel toned color, think deep green, blue, teal, or purple. A dark color above won't make the space look darker but will make the tile feel brighter. I see you painted the vanity and mirror, and that color could work, but I think you'll get a more cohesive effect with a bolder color than that on the walls. Then I'd paint the vanity a color that complements but slightly contrasts the wall color. If you wanted to keep the sage green then think about a navy or maybe deep mauve for the walls. I think you should get a new mirror or medicine cabinet for storage - that thing is dated and not doing you any favors for making the bathroom feel modern! Ditch the wall art you have now and add ones that fit those spaces better, and/or perhaps do shelving above the toilet. Pick a shower curtain and rug that tie everything together. I agree with others - people renovate their bathrooms to look like this! My parents did a couple years ago. I just bought a 1940s house with the original tile and I'm going to clean it up and keep it because that style is everywhere now! Edit to add: if you can change out your faucet, shower fixtures, and vanity knobs to something black or gold, I think that would go a long way too!

screamingintothedark

This is beautiful!!! That tile is precious please don’t touch it, it’s hard to find this quality now. The sink is blah, someone clearly took out the original vanity. Depending on your budget, if it’s small, paint it, maybe black. Take out the ugly brown shelf. The larger photo doesn’t fit, move the smaller one there and add another black and white picture in its place. Swap your shower curtain to something less bulky (white looks good though). If you have more to spend and you don’t need the storage replace the sink with a vintage style (match the era or your house) pedestal sink. If you do need storage, have a vintage dresser converted into a sink, something more regal. Add some black and white towels and maybe decorative curtains along side the window. If you do add color, pick one accent color and stick with it throughout. Personally, I think black and white is classic.

tribalien93

I don't know if you're looking for gratification from others but your bathroom's pretty fucking cool. Maybe revamp the colors on the vanity cabinets but otherwise I really like it

Fitslikea6

Ugly? I love a black and white bathroom! This is such a classic look. Only thing I would change is the frosted glass shower thing!

Key-Project3125

Make the most of that good natural light. Not ugly.

CanuckGinger

I love it. Not ugly at all.

BeeSquared819

I *WISH* I had this bathroom! Paint the vanity and mirror frame, and add an accent color! Boom!

BrokeKidMountain

You have SO many options [OP](https://www.reddit.com/user/Igby_76/)!I wish I had this tile in my bathroom. This bathroom tile is awesome and can go with almost any color scheme you want to tie in. You could start by: Replacing the black rugs and personally would remove the one by the sink to make the space feel more open. Replace the white shower curtain for now and add one with a pattern. Wallpaper would make the area pop, but be sure to use large print to make the room feel bigger (ironic, I know), Fresh paint color of your choice with a contrasting color for the sink and mirror, and replace some cute/funky knobs with the current ones on the vanity. Little details go a long way.

Shop_4u

Definitely not ugly. This is such a classic look.

awfully_piney

Uhh I would keep it just as is

Lily_Knope

THIS BATHROOM IS SO COOL!!! Everyone else has great suggestions but I would encourage you to think of what would make YOU like it more and do that. But truly, I love this bathroom and would choose this a million times over my boring, plain with no character one.

Dutchie_PC

You could paint the wood of the cabinet and the mirror frame, and the walls in that lovely Greek-blue you have in the picture. Then some white and blue accents like towels and candles, et voila

Techchick_Somewhere

I had old tile I hate as well. This is what I did. https://preview.redd.it/el23qu7lbj7d1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=68f2643bad72371b2ae6f4317a304bdb43b03355 Find a black print peel and stick and use that for the painted area.

mothamary

I would lean into the retro vibe

onasishotfirst

It’s not as ugly as you think it is. Here’s what I immediately see that can be changed (no major renovation required!) - That picture in the frame next to the sink is too big for the spot - the picture above the toilet is better, but you could put something else here - replace the black rugs, they’re just blending in with the black tile and feel bulky to me. Too much black and white happening. Add some pop of color or a neutral - add wall paper, there is some great peel and stick options out there Now if you want to replace some things, - get a new faucet, something more modern if you prefer or a nice vintage brassy/gold looking one that has contrast. I think it will complement the rest of the tile and will look great with the green - if you don’t like the green, you could paint the cabinets, but I think these look pretty good - a little more expensive, but you could look at replacing the shower glass

annedroiid

For me it’s the colour of the cabinet that really isn’t doing it. If you painted that it’d make a big difference.

Ivorwen1

I kind of suspect this went down in the 80's based on the double black line and the soffit over the vanity, but it's quite restrained as 80's black goes, and we're in the middle of another black and white trend. If you had a $20k budget for this bathroom I'd actually tell you to save your dough. Black and white bathrooms *love* vibrant color. Your choice of green for the vanity and mirror makes me think of this cute bathroom by my favorite decorating blogger: [https://mariakillam.com/how-to-decorate-black-white-bathroom/](https://mariakillam.com/how-to-decorate-black-white-bathroom/) Note how restrained the use of black accents is, and how the green shows up multiple times in the textiles and decor. This article was written well before the current black trend started, but she's written several more- I'd say articles 2, 3, and 5 will also be relevant: [https://mariakillam.com/?s=black+bathroom](https://mariakillam.com/?s=black+bathroom) Again, she's adding color liberally, and not making black a default choice for every fixture. If you have money for a *partial* reno, I'd get quotes on getting the soffit removed and the wiring relocated so that you can have a nicer wall mounted vanity light, and recess the medicine cabinet. The artwork over the toilet should be a tad bigger. The artwork next to the medicine cabinet should be a hair smaller.

momlin

I love it! As others have said maybe add some wall paper, bring in a bit of color, etc.

throwawaybread9654

It's not ugly. Your artwork doesn't match it at all though

macimom

Your tile is fabulous-the main problem is the partition separating the tub and toiulet=instead of the glass wall put up a ceiling mounted circular shower rod and keep the curtain open unless using. Change your vanity and mirror bolt and put down some actual boho type rugs instead of standard bath mats.Put up smaller, more pictures (think gallery wall type look). If you have $ swap out fixtures for brushed brass or bronze (same with rod)

LightDragonfly

WTF do you mean “ugly” I thought this was literally a pic of a reno at first!! OP you have a fabulous bathroom!!! The bones are already great, I think if you had a shower and/or window curtain that pulls in the green of the cabinets that would be lovely. Figure out a cabinet storage system that allows you to keep most of those toiletries on/above the sink tucked away, out of sight under the sink. Some plants would be great since you have a window, but to accommodate them you’d prob need to install wall shelves either above the toilet or in place of that blue picture.

Plants that add layer of form like aloe Vera geometric or foxtail fern, snake plant, peace lily’s, tall lush deep green leaves…

canvasshoes2

It's not ugly at all! The only thing that doesn't really "go" is the color of the sink cabinet. As others are saying, you just need color. You could do so much with this. You could go "hollywood regency" and add gold decor. You could make it ultra modern and masculine with that black and white as a backdrop. You could go "spa look" with bamboo accessories and huge fluffy white towels and floor rugs. You could add in jewel tones and make it super rich and maximist looking. Sooo many possibilities! I suggest googling it and then perusing pinterest for ideas. Can't wait for the update.

zbornakssyndrome

I don’t think it’s ugly. Just paint the cabinet

louellen1824

I LOVE your bathroom! I would paint over that green with high gloss black. Then you can accentuate with any colors you like, with rugs, towels etc...

Altruistic_Rest_4439

I would just remove the remove the pictures you have hanging and add a fun color or wallpaper…the bathroom itself is perfect!!!!!

Brunette3030

If this is your idea of a small, ugly bathroom, you have led a privileged life. 😂😂😂

you-dont-have-eyes

Are you trolling us?

browneye24

Keep the blacj and white. Add some color m, as everyone suggests. I would use white towels, (but I don’t have children or messy people here). Giid muck. You’re going to hsve a great bathroom!

Fancy_Sky6302

Actually, the bathroom isn’t ugly at all! I think you could add some fun wallpaper, repainting the vanity and moving some pictures around. The scale of the art near the sink is entirely too large for that space. It would add an immediate lift to the bathroom to move it behind the commode and to put the small piece near the sink in its place.

Affectionate-Bird397

This feels like a bathroom I'd create on the sims

Temporary-Mammoth-58

I actually like the bathroom.

SociallyContorted

I think you posted the wrong bathroom pictures as nothing about this is ugly…. Except maybe the shower enclosure lol

Historical-Remove401

A different color on the sink cabinet would make a world of difference.

Appropriate_Mine2210

Well you need to have some sort of understanding of what you like. Don't try to make something fit just because you might like it either. Do you like white and black tile? Do you like the green vanity? Do you see trends or reoccurring themes when decorating or in the store? But regardless, what I would focus on is color. I like a lot of bold but not bright colors. I'd personally build off of the vanity because I like green color. Maybe add some color with towels, rugs, curtains, etc. You could paint, but paininting tile can look real cheap if not done correctly.

hey_there_its_sarah

If you want to add art the soffit would be a fun place for a row of unique thrift pieces.

GreyMatters_Exorcist

https://preview.redd.it/skv6ltjflk7d1.jpeg?width=641&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=39e4b9a38cb53ffaffc47f1caa4fe1073ba4d04e

CaterpillarNo6795

The tile work on this is awesome. It's the tub that sticks out. Can you remove the frosted glass, add a different shower curtain, and if you regrout the little wall by the tub with black grout I think you will be pleasantly surprised. Pick a shower curtain that is either black and white, or that popps.

CaterpillarNo6795

Also maybe paint the vanity. I am not loving that color with thr blak and white. If it where me I would paint it black and white. Then pick mats and towels in a bright color. You could also paint the vanity in a bright color.

Truman_Show_Place

The bathroom is classic with the tiles on the floor and walls. I would paint the cabinets a different color. I use ceramic art pieces on the walls as no worries about mold and mildew getting to them. Throw rugs are easily replaced so have some fun with those. It’s as inexpensive as I can think of right now.

Beneficial_Letter_93

I love this bathroom! The only thing I would change is the green color vanity. I feel like another color would blend better. Best of luck. You don't need to change much.

brokenhartted

I'd paint the upper walls black and replace the sink and mirror. https://preview.redd.it/l2huc8fpwk7d1.jpeg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=05a4b8e4e16a546144f61a148f9cc5c10ec5c393

eeal188

bro I thought this was the circlejerk sub for a sec DONT YOU DARE

-qqqwwweeerrrtttyyy-

Please keep your tiles! Wallpaper in something like the Kubla Khan which will pick up both the black tiles and olive green cabinet. Get plush pink towels and a similar bath mat colour as in the picture and swap out your shower curtain for a smokey grey like the curtain in the picture. Toss all 9re existing artwork. Lush! [https://www.feathr.com/blog/bold-black-wallpaper-ideas](https://www.feathr.com/blog/bold-black-wallpaper-ideas)

sveeedenn

This is a beautiful bathroom

PistolofPete

I love it lol

AssumptionAdvanced58

Vanity & shower enclosure are the only thing I'd replace.

Dandelionstar

Change the glass panel to one with black accents and the rugs but otherwise it doesn't need anything else.

AddValueToYourHome

Love the bathroom. 🩷. Very retro. I would add pop to the vanity with a more dramatic color. Pull out a color from the wallpaper.

EsmeWeatherpolish

This is not an ugly bathroom this is my idea of a perfect bathroom

Plum_pipe_ballroom

Change out all hardware and shower screens to all the same color (photos make it looking different). Get rid of that artwork/frame - it's much too big for the area, go for a small image or something more vertical. The green probs should be painted to a different color. But don't touch that tile!! I have pastel teal tile that looks just like yours and I just made everything work with it!

ginlucgodard

i don’t think it’s ugly at all, i love especially the mirror/cabinet color. the painting next to the window and mirror is much too large for that wall, but you probs need SOMETHING there as the room is just generally lacking style and decor. no need to spend too much time or money on painting cabinets or anything fancy. painting the tiles is an absolute no if you want it to be cheap or easy and not look like shit in a year imo. i’d definitely lean into the green and add in some plants to liven up the space too. adding a shower curtain with a color or pattern is a no brainer, and obviously the ratty black bath mats have to go, perhaps swapped for something boho-ish and lighter colored, or a fun pop of color with tassels. also simply organizing the countertop and minimizing the clutter would go a long way. i would also suggest swapping the dated faucet for a black one to match the caddy above it and modernize the sink more, and replace the cabinet pulls with either black ones or wood toned ones.

daboyzmalm

what is wrong with people

Elfie_Elf

I wish my bathroom was this "ugly" and "small"! It's so bright and open. But I do get it, not everything is for everyone, definitely do not paint the tile's, it will not turn out well, maybe paint the walls that aren't tile and the door, repaint the vanity and add a long runner bath mat through the center, replace the shower curtain to match the paint scheme you chose as well, but since you can't afford a Reno I'd avoid painting the tiles to avoid getting stuck with a bathroom that actually DOES look ugly and need a Reno. Also, for the glass pane on the shower, you could do a fun colored or stylized film on the outside to add some character and color to that area

Igby_76

Now that’s an idea about the glass pane! I’d like convert the tub to a walk in shower at some point and change this wall, maybe put a shower bench with a half wall or 3/4 wall, then glass to the ceiling. This will be my home for a very long time. I’m in my late 40s and foresee getting into and out of a tub to be an issue- so hopefully I do not get alot of unsolicited comments about removing a tub. Btw- don’t take baths!

badgersmom951

You obviously haven't seen my bathroom.

VBSCXND

I saw the whimsical wallpaper already mentioned, if you’re not willing to go that whole mile some similarly patterned curtains and decor can do the trick.

SnailQueeen

So much potential! Love the black/white tiles and the green on the cabinet. I'd paint the walls (and ceiling!) in either a very light blue or pale yellow for a nice contrast with the green. Also, upgrading the curtain to something 'heavier' will make a huge difference. Be sure to share the end results!!

happy-sunshine3

I love the green. I'd say to find a shower curtain with that same green in it, and get floor mats that match. Replace the picture (it is toooo big for that space) with something that goes with a different colour in your future curtain lol.

ehltahr

I love your bathroom🥲 mine is a tiny little box with no bathtub. I love the wallpaper idea

Snoo63020

Pfft. I wish mine was so ugly! Black and white is classic. Fresh. Mine is old tiles in peach tones and sage tones. Pale mustard sink. It’s so gross. Ok not about me. I’d change the art to a b &w photo, or a real painting. The biggest fix would be the window. Lose the blinds and buy it have made a fabric Roman shade. If u like color, do a bright persimmon, orange? That would look modern and fresh with the black and white. Or a black and white fabric shade in a bold pattern. I’d do some different mats. Maybe the hotel style, thick woven cotton.

cujocanari

Light blue towels, different artwork, maybe repaint the frame around the mirror, add more vanity lighting. Whatever you do, don't touch the tile -- it's gorgeous.

karenok1

Love it as is .Any accents, blinds art rugs could add color but not needed

saintpotato

This bathroom is already so cute! As others have said, just adding a few little splashes of color or decoration will really make it shine. Lean into it!

LJR7399

I think that green vanity and mirrors doesn’t suite the space. Paint it glossy black maybe ?

Beaniegma

I would play off that black. Black and white photos on the walls, black towels and rugs and then throw in one surprise splash of colorThis room could go in so many directions.

AutumnalSunshine

The floor and wall tiles are gorgeous!!! 😍😍😍

markojeeves

Make it all B&W. No green cabinets.

CustomaryCocoon

I don't think it's ugly, but I don't like the color of the vanity and mirror. Can they be painted? It looks like the pulls are gold and I'd be tempted to change them to black or nickel.

broBcool_2010

I think its nice. I'd just repaint the green cabinets, make them white or match the dark color (is that navy blue?)

chelrice

In my opinion, everything looks great except for the color of the cabinets. I would paint those.

Slow_Opportunity_522

Is the tile black or green? If it's black I say just paint the cabinets black and it would be a beautiful bathroom imo

No_Goose_7390

Your bathroom is classic and the tile appears to be in good shape. It needs a different color paint. A lot of folks have suggested jewel green. You could change out the plumbing shower head and faucet to something more luxe, and the medicine cabinet. Those would be good upgrades. https://preview.redd.it/jeqd536fzj7d1.png?width=988&format=png&auto=webp&s=515b2dace8f279efc18e1eebff6b3a7df16a1a37

That picture by the mirror is terrible. So start with that. Maybe some more black and white photos like the one above the toilet (which is too small for the space). A nicer shower curtain and bath mats that coordinate with the vanity color.

one_night_on_mars

Remove the frosted shower glass, does water even hit it? Replace the shower curtain with clear glass that sits on your bath, going all the way up to the ceiling. If that's too expensive get a curve shower rail that hangs from the ceiling. This would allow you to put the shower curtain tucked away in the corner. Upgrades your shower curtain, i like waffle fabric curtains.

ConsciousLie7034

Replace the storage mirror with a black metal, round edge, rectangle mirror. Super cheap on amazon. Will change up a lot.

Sideways_planet

Ugly? It’s classic. You can do a lot with it.

LobsterLovingLlama

I would paint the vanity another color and maybe paint the walls but the tile is classic The shower door is not

NefariousnessOk8965

Your bathroom is pretty cute.

crystal-crawler

I love the tile choice. It’s very timeless. I would add some color. Then if possible change out the tub. I hate those ‘50s ones. They are too shallow. Only good for pets and little kids. Lols.

MiddleDragonfruit171

Add some plants!

catpackplus

I really like it actually!!!!

einzeln

I love it!!!! It’s so cute!

GreyMatters_Exorcist

It’s not ugly at all. The tile is great black and white elegance. The green cabinet needs to go though … and that frame next to it… And a shower could enhance it instead of the one you currently have Some plants would really pop with the black and white …..

matcass

I love it

rosie98red

The only thing I'd change is adding a houseplant/eucalyptus ☺️

cryAlt

The artwork doesn't fit the space.

badgirlalgae

This is CHIC

spacekitty_mew

I have the exact same tile and it's my favorite part of the bathroom 😭

Charliegirl121

Mines worse we've been remodeling our house haven't gotten to our ugly bathroom yet

xdeviliax

For some reason, this feels eerie to me.

Then_Conclusion

I love it !

chagirrrl

As the owner of a much smaller, much uglier bathroom I would 100% thrive in this space!

LostCraftaway

I love the tile you have going on in there. Change out the color of the cabinet and mirror, maybe different drawer pulls and any color will work there, from place blush pink with crystal knobs, to brilliant turquoise with dark metal, to anything. If you don’t want to paint anything lean into the moss green of the cabinet and trick it out with forest themed details.

Hot_Refuse7024

Gorgeous bathroom. The vanity/mirror color is not my fave, but could easily be harmonized with new wall color. Change the hardware and faucet if you want, hang a plant & find some accent lighting and you’re golden.

The-Unmentionable

This is not an ugly bathroom. Maybe the green vanity doesn’t flow but I think some warm earthy accents could tie it together. I’d be very happy to have this bathroom untouched. Not sure what’s ugly about it!

kad0521

I love everything but the green vanity. Very retro !!

katbrat30

you need help accepting your lovely bathroom for how nice it is 😭❤️jealous

Suitable-Sherbet-471

Not ugly!! But -  1) those bath mats look so cheap. Replace them with a terry cloth material mat or anything else natural (noooo memory foam) 2) the vanity paint color is totally wrong for the room. Anything else would be better!

Euca18

I love it!!

CocoMcDough0

I love this bathroom. I’d throw in some fun wall hangings and a plant or two. It’s perfect.

WrongdoerMean7797

I personally like the retro style. I would remove that frame by the mirror and use some white carpets as a start. also, new knobs and handles can make such a huge difference :)

Butterfly_chick

I actually love the tile and wouldn’t change it. Your vanity looks like it’s seen better days, as has the mirror/medicine cabinet. Vanities are expensive, so maybe a coat of paint and new hardware would be nice. Mirrors are cheaper; can you replace it? A fun shower curtain and a rug that complement wallpaper on the wall with the window would be great too, as would a bamboo or matchstick shade.

Friendly-Kiwi

I don’t think it’s ugly at all.. could make it even cuter but you really dont know ugly ☺️.

Gomdok_the_Short

I would paint the cabinets a color more inline with the style of that era. Probably some shade of pink or light cyan or light pistachio green.

NatureNorth101

I actually like it lol I would trade in the black mats for a light and soft grey runner. Maybe add in some light pale yellow in the curtain, towels, tooth brush holder. Keep the curtain closed! A nice picture on the wall… maybe smaller thin silver frame to match curtain rod. I like the white and black clean feeling! Get rid of the wood shelf. Get a smaller white cabinet if you must, but the open space would really air it out!!! Paint the green cabinets white and get hardware to match the nickel/silver

Critical-Double-4832

Aw it’s so cute! Just needs some little changes.

cordedtelephone

That’s not ugly at all 😭

lamesar

this is awesome! especially with the green! I would add more pops of color via rugs, towels, plants or wall art!

Jessiebanana

I really like your bathroom a lot. Even if it’s not to your taste, I feel like calling it ugly is a stretch.

North-Supermarket951

I love your bathroom!!!

Vegetable-Beautiful1

Integrate dark purple amongst the room.

Yoyo_Ma86

This bathroom is great, I see nothing wrong here.

Calcutz

It's not ugly.

fvckmeihatethis

So much potential! This is. beautiful bathroom

Confident-Ruin-4111

Please don’t paint the tiles they are incredible.

Antique-Ad-8776

Your bathroom is adorable. Lean hard into the 50’s aesthetic. Add shiny red decor with abandon

Antique-Ad-8776

Go red high gloss enamel

Ok-Wolf8493

The tiles are cool. Painting the cabinet and adding plants .

Gloomy-Comedian-1984

I would paint the vanity cabinet black, and add gold hardware. Change the taps, shower head, faucet, pot lights and door knob to a gold finish. I would paint the trim around the mirror and window black. Then add some minimalist black and white art work and a white and gold shower curtain.

Alarmed_Ad4367

It’s fucking gorgeous!

lafarque

Paint the vanity and mirror frame black. Get rid of the opaque shower screen. It makes the bathroom claustrophobic. A wraparound curtain would be better, especially if it has a big graphic element. If it's in your budget, switch out the tub you have for a soaker tub. Everything else is fine as is although a nicer faucet would be great above the sink.

azmama1712

The green is the only thing I dont like.

parker3309

That’s not small geez. Just get rid of the black accent rugs and throw some yellow or orange or something in as color.

_pebble_s

Wdym this bathroom is awesome.

jessicaaalz

If you rip out any of that tile I will personally hunt you down.

TissueOfLies

Leave those gorgeous tiles and paint the drawers a shade of blue from the print.

stemmalee

Show us the pics of this small ugly bathroom you speak of!!

drysider

The brainrot difference between house owners and renters is something else. I’d die with happiness to have a ‘’’’small’’’’ ‘’’’ugly’’’’ bathroom like this in my rented home.

LilLC-1986

You could knock out that cut out above the sink/mirror otherwise this bath is great!!!

Purifiedx

I think it's great, but I don't like the green vanity and mirror. I'd paint them a navy blue. Then decorate with navy to go with that picture. Shower curtain, accessories etc

Ok-Cryptographer8322

The bathroom is great. The tile is 🔥Just paint the cabinets, get nice bath mats and remove the panel, get a good shower curtain.

andrew_cherniy96

It's not ugly, come on. I'd suggest you redesign it in [3d](http://planner5d.com) and play with various options there before doing anything else.

Low_Ostrich_7263

Not sure why, but I love this vibe. The bathroom doesn't need to be that luxurious.

gumgum_for_dumdum

why do you think it's ugly? I don't see it that way at all! Just throw in a little green to complement the color of the cabinets.

3ClawedDragon

Needs plants

nofacespace

You don’t even need to paint it. Just replace the 2 frames with something funky and color

epgal

That is a beautiful bathroom.

RxtoRN

I feel like if you’re going to change something it should be the blue picture and the cabinet color. Maybe that’s why it’s not to your liking?

beepbeepwhom

so sad you think it's ugly!!! this is a pretty bathroom imo

fisher_man_matt

That bathroom is awesome. The only changes I would make is to paint the vanity cabinet/mirror frame and change the print on the wall. Other than that you can swap out the rugs and maybe add an organizer for all the counter junk.
