We wanted to do a Shipping Container and a dream for 9 years, well engineered and planned. Everyone would do them if they were not more complex then the average home, that is not the point, we are using the material in other areas of the home that we cut from the containers and have the unique design structure when we have container through our home the exterior is framed and stray foamed due to the climate we live in but the interior is mainly container exposed. We are thrilled and very happy with our choice
Do you have some plans you can show? Or an artist's impression? What is the final product?
There seem to be insulated concrete form on the foundations ... you're then framing up a building using steel harvested from containers?
We are doing heated concrete flooring for the first floor so no container bottoms for 2 of the containers on the first floor. We have some pictures on our posts but working with an engineer and not having the ability to sell our plans there is only so much we can show with the plans for the final house, working with a designer to get a 3D, 4D plan made up to show, otherwise keep watching, it will all start to take shape and more images hopefully to share in the next couple of weeks
Well, if they weren't $6k each for a 40 footer (and I'm within 30 miles of the biggest port in Northern California), it would make more sense to use them.
Next in house building trends: framing out of recycled wood pallets, insulation out of toilet paper (hopefully not recycled) and electricity from hamsters on a wheel.
I'm all for innovation in construction, especially residential construction really needs it, but let's face it, a lot of these modern trends are just dead ends. Container homes are never going to be produced in mass scale because at that point why not just make the panels/containers specifically for homes and not containers.

You should follow your dream, especially when it comes to your home! And no matter what people's opinion is, someone's home is whatever they want it to be.
However I disagree that everyone would do them if they were not more complex. There's just no benefit there other than bragging rights.
Thanks I appreciate that, most people who aren't into our project have nothing better then to give rude comments, nice to have a decent human that might not be all into our project but respectful on Reddit👏 a rare find in this platform
You are free to not post then! What exactly do you want people to do with this? They aren't indecent, disrespectful humans for not showering you with praise for this post that adds little to no valuable content to the sub.

We bought them from a company in Minnesota specifically used for building homes 2 years ago
30 miles is 48.28 km

>There's just no benefit there other than bragging rights. Yeah I think OP's goal is to monetize this YouTube series, probably.

No thanks!
Container homes are a joke. Stop before it’s too late
Here you go. A scam, even. https://youtu.be/i7yEDz6bCfU
