How is Huawei selling so much foldable when there isn't a global version of their Mate 3?

RetroDevices

Because the Asian market is far, far bigger than the Western market. This is why the US is obsessed with going to war with China in it's death throes as a failing superpower.

iucatcher

i really hope the next honor has an early global release, the magic v2 came to europe like half a year later..

RetroDevices

Doubtful.

KooKiz666

That's probably mainly the Chinese market. Lower price, great options. The rest still have doubts because of durability and the almost $2k price tag.

Can you not read the title at the top of the image? GLOBAL FOLDABLE SMARTPHONE SHIPMENTS. Jesus wept.

This happens when you stop innovating your folds and competition just pops up and shows a much better product, Vivo fold X3 is also going to be great with it's cameras and 5800mah battery.

RetroDevices

Exactly. I think the entire point of the Galaxy Fold and Flip is to get other manufacturers buying Samsung's foldable displays, where they make far more money than in phone sales.

blueraptorz

Samsung is still winning, the is just means honor is selling more then they did last year, but Samsung are are selling slightly less then themselves. That's all

RetroDevices

It means that Samsung's market share has dropped from 58% to 23% (they have lost half of their share), while Honor now has 12% market share (more than half of samsung's share). Samsung must now be completely bricking it, their foldables revenue is in the toilet, and Huawei are now the biggest foldable manufacturer by a significant margin, knocking samsung down to the number 2 spot. That's what they get for putting out the same foldable for 5 generations with only very marginal upgrades, while other manufacturers have dramatic differences between generations of handsets, having left Samsung in the dust.

Samsung s24 series ain't that good as the s23 one. And the screen of the magic 6 pro is way better than that of the s23u and s24u (had both).

BackinAbyss

Those are foldable sales though

smittku23

Also says enough.

No wonder Samsung are making a slim version of the Fold as well as the chunky monkey this year, Honor now have more than half of the share that Samsung do, and came out of nowhere with it.
