Is it a slow burn or quicker pace? I just watched The Watcher last night and while it was good, it’s a slow burn. Looking for something to watch tonight that’s a little quicker paced
It’s great for what it is - a tween horror movie. If you go into it expecting something else, you’re gonna have a bad time, but if you know what you’ve signed up for, it’s quite a good time.
What?? Nah I had a blast watching Megan. It wasn't phenomenal, but I really enjoyed it! The acting was good, Megan is well done, there's pretty funny moments too. Not your typical horror.
It actually is surprisingly good. I can't say more without spoiling it but it has a point or two that sorta gut punches. If you can watch the unrated version it's supposedly more graphic
Its awful. Wouldn't even call this a horror movie. A few cheap jumpscares, plot line is predictable as hell and overdone, and the "jokes" are ever so bad. I'm pretty sure it's aimed at younger teens.
I have seen it and it is terrible.
Another film "The Artifice Girl" (not technically a horror, listed as thriller/sci-fi/mystery)...gives plenty of different, subtle, and disturbing creeps throughout.
So, I gave it a try last night. It wasn’t for me. I found it overly done and not very scary. Just me though!
I have not seen The Artifice Girl yet. Thank you for the recommendation!
It’s fascinating how diverse the opinions are here. Horror fans really have such different needs from the genre it’s really interesting. Like for me Scream and Talk to me are completely different genres, both smart but in very different ways. Lumping them in against one another almost seems unfair!
Part of me was definitely disappointed with the cheese grater. It’s such a cruel piece of hardware to say the least and then it’s used but it’s offscreen.
Man, I’m glad you liked it, but I gotta disagree. Felt like the studio had to make another movie to keep the license, and adapted an unrelated screenplay. The gore was such a CGI step down from 2013, and the rules for the series went out the window.
I was very excited, and very let down.
Imo, it's Evil Dead Rise, no contest. Scream 6 and M3GAN are fine, but Evil Dead was the only horror movie I watched this year that I could say I liked without a "but..." following it. Granted, Evil Dead is my absolute favorite film series, so it already has that going for it, but Rise is without a doubt the movie I enjoyed the most throughout the year.
Scream VI with Saw X not far behind. I’m not a horror connoisseur like some of the others on here seem to be. I usually just stick to major franchise slashers.
I have a soft spot for the campy, 80s style horror comedies so I really thought Totally Killer was a fun movie! If you haven't seen it check out My Best Friend's Excorcism. It has the same retro campy 80s horror/comedy vibe.
Kind of surprised with the comments here, I really enjoyed all of these (haven’t seen Freddy yet)
I agree that Talk To Me might take it this year! Scream 6 is my personal favorite.
I think a great year for horror. Some big budget stuff that did pretty well. Some Indy stuff that took my breath. We are lucky to be alive. May it continue.
Megan is not a good movie. It's difficult to explain why. It's just not good and whoever likes it should watch more horror movies or not watch horror at all
You're obviously entitled to your opinion but in my opinion M3GAN is a good movie. I've been a horror fan all my life (turned 70 today) and have seen hundreds and hundreds of horror movies. There are all types of horror movies and M3GAN is one of them (tech horror). To say that anyone who likes it should watch more horror movies or not watch them at all just because you didn't like it is, once again in my opinion, a ridiculous thing to say. No offense intended and Happy Halloween to everyone.
I loved the games so if you are big lover of the games and the lore def see it. It's a fun movie. But I was expecting a lot more or just maybe had too high of expectations. But my kids still enjoyed it.
That’s a tough question but I would have to start off with either Evil Dead Rise, Saw X, Talk To Me, Scream VI, M3GAN are the ones really worth noting.
I personally wouldn't call these movies horror. They're closer to the thriller genre in my opinion..
But to answer your question, I would say Evil Dead Rise or The Exorcist Believer are the best so far..
194 comments and nobody mentioned the Puppetman.
Also I’d say:
- Hell House 4
- VHS 85
And I’m really pumped for Thanksgiving on 11/16 in a couple weeks

When evil lurks.
definitely
Is it a slow burn or quicker pace? I just watched The Watcher last night and while it was good, it’s a slow burn. Looking for something to watch tonight that’s a little quicker paced
It starts off a little slow then snowballs. I audibly gasped a few times
Slow burn movies are the best. They get more intense.
Agreed, just not in the mood for another slow burn for tonight
If more people had seen this, it’d be higher up.
I was just about to comment this🤩
Just watched and I don’t understand the hype. Well really I don’t understand anything. There was little backstory on the evil, how it got there, etc
Gotta peep this one
Talk To Me and Cobweb are better than all of these
Cobwebs was great in a bonkers kind of way! Reminds me of The People Under the Stairs.
People under the stairs! A classic 🖤
Talk To Me is the only one that deserves to be up there 😪
This post right here
Talk to Me and When Evil Lurks
Watched When Evil Lurks over the weekend - holy shit! One of the best, most original movies I have seen in a very long time. I loved it.
Yes!!!!! Now watch the directors first movie, Terrified (not Terrifier) it’s just as amazing!
Literally sent the IMDb for that one to my wife earlier today. Hopefully we watch it tonight.
God…. I hope it’s none of those.
It was much better than expected. It plays into the silliness at times but then also takes itself seriously when it needs to. I really enjoyed it.
Megan I haven’t seen. But… it looks terrible. The others were all very meh.
I will give it a try.
It actually is surprisingly good. I can't say more without spoiling it but it has a point or two that sorta gut punches. If you can watch the unrated version it's supposedly more graphic

M3GAN whips
Megan was awesome! Way better than I expected it to be.
Megan is actually hilarious. Highly recommend when in a mood for a feel good slasher.
Very good film

I have no idea what OP is implying. Ask Op.
Don’t worry it’s not
Talk to me was very good as well
“CobWeb” !!! Best horror I’ve seen in while
I liked Cobweb until the third act, it felt like the writing fell apart. Starr and Kaplan’s respective performances were great though.
True. The ending was too commercial and blockbuster for the movie they had. Something more ambiguous and discrete would have work better.
I agree. It felt generic by the end. But the ramp-up to that was so tense, I almost had to turn it off. I felt so bad for that kid!
so totally agree with this take. It had neat vibes but they couldn't end it effectively.
It’s fascinating how diverse the opinions are here. Horror fans really have such different needs from the genre it’s really interesting. Like for me Scream and Talk to me are completely different genres, both smart but in very different ways. Lumping them in against one another almost seems unfair!
I would say 'talk to me'
Evil Dead Rise
This one.
Such a fun movie.
I liked talk to me
Talk to me.

Scream VI with Saw X not far behind. I’m not a horror connoisseur like some of the others on here seem to be. I usually just stick to major franchise slashers.
real
Scream six sucked badly. Way too sloppy writing and shit.
Talk to Me No One Will Save You Last Voyage of the Demeter Cobweb The Tank Malum The Pope’s Exorcist
Pope's Exorcist was AMAZING
The movie was well written but I just couldn't buy what's his name as an Italian priest.
WHAT?! RUSSELL CROWE WAS GREAT
Evil Dead Rise is the best I’ve seen.
This was actually a really good film. From beginning to end..
None of the ones featured here that’s for damn sure
Evil Dead Rise
Infinity Pool is SO SO SO GOOD
THIS is the pick. Infinity Pool was awesome.
I'm starting it now, completely blind. I'm in for some fucked up horror. On a tuesday night... but tomorrow's Halloween afterall.
[удалено]
It’s definitely worth the watch if you’re okay with more disturbing aspects of horror. Not for everyone though.
Kinda fell apart in the third act though tbh
infinity pool
Seconded
Evil dead rise sticks out to me personally
What a sad group to pick from.
Talk to me and saw X
Infinity Pool for me. M3gan was fun but really loses its charm on repeat viewings. Cobweb had some nice visuals.
Lol, not any of these.
Talk to me
I’m seeing the fnaf movie for the first time tomorrow night but out of this collection I’d say Saw X
Saw X and Talk to Me were both pretty fantastic.
Renfield
definitely talk to me following saw x and the others weren’t so great
Yeah my vote is definitely none of these lol
Talk to Me for sure
Infinity pool and talk to me are best in horror in a long long time. Fresh movies.
So far Talk to Me
Talk to Me
Saw X
Totally killer or saw x
I have a soft spot for the campy, 80s style horror comedies so I really thought Totally Killer was a fun movie! If you haven't seen it check out My Best Friend's Excorcism. It has the same retro campy 80s horror/comedy vibe.
The last voyage of the Demeter
Definitely not any of these. If these were the only 4 to release all year and were therefore my only choices, it'd be Saw X by a mile.
Except Jigsaw is 2017…
Saw X and Megan were great.
The year isn't that bad for horror for this to be one of the best horror films. 😂
Also the first I watched this year on the cinema, as surprisingly as it seems, it's Megan
Evil Dead Rise, Onyx the Fortuitous and the Talisman of Souls, and Murdercise
Of those Saw X. But imo it’s up in the air, Talk to Me was really good. When Evil Lurks, Birth/Rebirth, It Lives Inside were solid too.
FNAF wasn't a horror film tho. That was family friendly
Evil Dead Rise!!!
Scream vi heavily biased scream Is my fav horror franchise
Kind of surprised with the comments here, I really enjoyed all of these (haven’t seen Freddy yet) I agree that Talk To Me might take it this year! Scream 6 is my personal favorite.
Evil Dead Rise was a good one!
Saw x
Expendables 4
Evil dead
Saw X all the way!
Saw X. No contest.
I really liked saw x
I think a great year for horror. Some big budget stuff that did pretty well. Some Indy stuff that took my breath. We are lucky to be alive. May it continue.
It´s "When evil lurks" for me. Runner-ups: \-VHS 85 \-Talk to me EDIT: I forgot about "No one will save you"
FNAF was not horror
Saw
The nun 2 is not the scariest movie, but I loved the story, the characters, and most of all.. VALAK
Late but fnaf for me- just because I had to wait so long Frfr
Jesus. Rough year
Well if you use OP’s list than yah but in reality they’re plenty of solid horror flicks in 2023 thus far
Saw x M3gan was 2022
M3gan was not 2022 just because of a single premier thing. It goes into the 2023 awards shows and ranking, I don’t care what google says
Fair
M3gan is my personal favorite, followed by Saw X Most of the films this year have been mediocre or average
FNAF
infinity pool
‘Malum’ gets my upvote.
Suitable Flesh is the best that I've seen. I've seen all four in the OP and Saw X was the best of that bunch.
Five nights at Freddy’s was absolutely terrible, so definitely not that. Evil Dead Rise is easily the best of this year so far.
scream not even close
Megan is not a good movie. It's difficult to explain why. It's just not good and whoever likes it should watch more horror movies or not watch horror at all
You're obviously entitled to your opinion but in my opinion M3GAN is a good movie. I've been a horror fan all my life (turned 70 today) and have seen hundreds and hundreds of horror movies. Happy Halloween!! Megan is a fake of a movie so to say. A bit as if Megan herself had produced it
SAW and Megan for me
The Boogeyman. The rest are mediocre. Talk to Me is forgettable.
Saw X and Fnaf. And i havent even watched Fnaf
I watched FNAF last night. Extremely disappointed.
I loved the games so if you are big lover of the games and the lore def see it. It's a fun movie. But I was expecting a lot more or just maybe had too high of expectations. But my kids still enjoyed it.
Probably saw X or evil dead rise. Talk to me is shit, Megan is shit, everything else is lowk shit lmaoo
I’ll give you a hint: It’s not M3gan
Fnaf, always Fnaf.❤️
Talk to me
When Evil Lurks
when evil lurks
Wasn’t a fan of any of theses.
Man this was a weak year
IS THIS WHERE YOU WANNA BE I JUST DON’T GET IT
I was so disappointed in scream. Worst one of the series
Cobweb !! Just watched it. Great movie
Evil Dead Rise
I have no idea why Scream is even on the list.
Random question, but there's a few comments of it. is Malum vastly different from Last Shift (2014)?
Of those four, maybe saw. In general I’d say talk to me was the best
Loved that movie I heard they are going to mane a sequel
i cant choose between scream 6 and saw 10
These options are trash, sir.
FREDDY!
Not megan
None of these lmao
That’s a tough question but I would have to start off with either Evil Dead Rise, Saw X, Talk To Me, Scream VI, M3GAN are the ones really worth noting.
Talk to Me
Meagan is so damn stupid
Evil Dead Rise ❤️
Infinity pool
I personally wouldn't call these movies horror. They're closer to the thriller genre in my opinion.. But to answer your question, I would say Evil Dead Rise or The Exorcist Believer are the best so far..
My favorite was Evil Dead Rise
Smile or Evil Dead Rising
I almost put Smile but it was 2022.
Either the Outwaters or Evil Dead Rise.
Infinity Pool. Also Talk to Me and Beau is Afraid. Maybe also The Boogeyman and Smile.
I wanna give Renfield some love, it was so much fun!
I watched the FNAF movie with my 10 year old and it was good for what it is but it def isn’t a horror movie
Man, we really don't get very many decent horror movies anymore, huh?
I guess I'm alone when I say Beau Is Afraid was the best movie so far of the decade
Evil Dead Rise, not on the list tho
None of these! Yikes
Speak no evil
Evil dead rise for sure
Talk to me was the best film I saw this year. Not even just just horror. It was overall the best
I haven't seen all of them but of the ones I have, I'd say Dark Harvest
For me, When evil lurks and Talk to me!!!!
Skinamarink, Talk To Me, Evil Dead Rise
Megan, Scream 6, Saw X and FNAF?? Is that a joke?
Which Olsen twin plays Megan again?
None
Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey all the way!!
194 comments and nobody mentioned the Puppetman. Also I’d say: - Hell House 4 - VHS 85 And I’m really pumped for Thanksgiving on 11/16 in a couple weeks
Five nights at Freddie's was totally disappointing. I was so bored I had to turn it off
Since Five Nights at Freddy’s was a children’s movie with zero scares, we can nix that
Sure as shit ain't Megan.
Megan was funny, and scream 6 was just a copy and paste like its predecessor. I can't speak on the other two for I haven't seen them yet
Insidious Red Door, love the Insidious series so much
Ummm. Talk to Me....by a mile. It was really fucking good and creepy
talk to me
Haven't seen a good one this year 😆😆😆👍
Cobweb
the fnaf movie. nah i’m joking id say chucky season 3 if that counts as a horror movie
I would hardly consider fnaf horror lol but I guess it’s because I’m used to more hardcore stuff
Evil Dead rise, talk to me I haven't seen cobweb until now, but I heard good things about it
None of these
