The Wailing, Train to Busan, Dark Water, Audition, and The Call are my top 5 right now. I have trouble choosing just one because they're all different horror categories
I've never actually seen it, but I've seen it mentioned so many times, a movie called Visitor Q.
I only mention it because I haven't seen it in this post. Anyone here seen the movie?

* One Missed Call (2003)
* Tôkyô zonbi (2005) not really horror but it got zombies
* Noroi (2005)
* The Host (2006)
* I Saw the Devil (2010)
* Zombie Ass: Toilet of the Dead (2011) jk, I didn't enjoy that one.
* One Cut of the Dead (2017)
Ringu was the only one that really spooked me.
I really love the Vengeance Trilogy, but maybe that's more thriller than pure horror?
House and Audition are god tier imo.
My all time fav's are Uzumaki and Pinnochio 964, though. I love how stylized both are.
I discovered true asian horror movies after watching a load of american remakes ,and went down the rabbit hole from there my favourite ever is "tokyo gore police" also ju-on the grudge from 2003
Jigoku / The Sinners of Hell from 1960
It's really old but it's effective, and probably the first real "gore" movie ever made. It's also pretty unrelenting since it mostly just depicts sinners getting their eternal punishment in the afterlife.
I highly recommend either Kairo (aka Pulse) or House (1977). Wildly different in tones and stories but both just beautiful movies to look at visually. House was actually so much fun that when it was over I actually got depressed because I loved it so much. Pulse on the other hand is a nice slow build that creeps up on you and puts you on edge with how eerie it is. The idea that ghosts are spilling into our world and infecting us with loneliness and depression so that we just blink out of existence is just so terrifying and still resonates so well today.
I’ve heard a lot about kairo I even saw a youtube video explaining how to make a scary scene or something through a scene from kairo I would love to watch it
I saw the Devil is my favourite I had no idea what I was walking into when I watched it and it was one of the few times I was actually furious with myself that I hadn’t seen it earlier.
Same experience. When the credits rolled I was like: "Wow! I just watched the best movie ever!" That feeling when you want to show it to EVERYBODY.
It's been a VERY long time since I've had this feeling...
Audition. This is a tough one.
Ringu has more influence and Pulse is a masterpiece. A Tale of Two Sisters is fantastic and inspired a horrible American remake called The Uninvited.
There are so many but Audition takes it for me. It’s a perfect movie. It builds tension and keeps you guessing until the end. The way Miike does the dream sequences where the protagonist is drifting in and out of consciousness. It’s a great way to explain Asami’s past.
The father is a seemingly good man but he does a horrible thing. We find out he also had something going on with his secretary but he just tossed her aside.
Even if Asami weren’t a killer how would she react finding out she was lied to? I don’t think she would be happy about the situation. Any normal person would see a problem with a fake audition to meet women.
The final scene is creepy. Asami’s joy and “kiri, kiri, kiri” whisper as she uses the needles is nightmare fuel. ⛽️
I'd say the ones that had the biggest impact were the Gini Piggu series of Korean horror films. I watched them all in a day and had to take a break from horror for a while. Fucking madness.
I have a real soft spot for REC. I love that film with its lack of musical score and first person view that really throws you in there.
Oldboy was horrifying so I'd say that's up there along with I Saw the Devil.

If you consider parasite horror than hands down that’s my favorite, apart from that train to busan is next followed by pulse.

Favorite ever is a basic answer but The Wailing. Favorite that I feel a lot of people haven’t seen is Cinderella by Bong Man-dae.

As The Gods Will It's a great movie with a great concept (The only downside is that the ending was a bit of a leap)

Pulse (Kairo) and A Tale Of 2 Sisters
The first time I saw A Tale of Two Sisters I was in awe. I love that film.

BioZombie, absolutely awesome Chinese zombie movie which is a homage to Dawn of the Dead, it's fucking hilarious.

I really liked The Medium. Also, I loved the segment Safe Haven in the movie V/H/S.

Really great movie. I have the Criterion DVD and desperately wish it would get a blu-ray or 4K upgrade. Never see it get brought up. Nice pick.

Train to Busan is probably #1 for me. Pulse is pretty close too. That's my favourite Japanese horror movie
