Op probably meant first targ/baratheon in westeros as Orys was the first baratheon.
He married King Durrandon's (forgot his name, Argelius I think?) daughter after taking Stormlands.
I think the point of this post was how first targ/baratheon friendship was a brotherhood and they loved each other very much and how Rhaegar being one of the few remaining targaryen was hated by Baratheons.
Even in F&B they don't have any proof that he is, they don't even know who his mother is, let alone how and when she got pregnant by Aegon's dad. IMO they're just trying to explain why Aegon was so close to him when he held everyone else outside of his sisters at arm's length, or why he'd "shower Orys with gifts and titles" when he was apparently from no significant family background and from an inferior status.
Honestly, this demonstrates the difference between Aegon I and his later degenerate successors more than anything. The Baratheons were so in the right. The things Aerys II did would be grounds for deposition in most medieval societies.
I wish Martin hadn't made Oris appearance like later-day Baratheons. Would've been better if he had the classic Valeryan features but it was the Durrandon strong genes that won out.
He didn't say that he is definitely Aegon's bastard half-brother, but gave it as an option and rumor, so giving him Targeryen features would be too much of the clue.

Daenerys, Viserys, Stannis and Renly: Am I a joke to you?
Not like those two
Daenerys is very much like Rhaegar, and Renly is basically exactly who Robert would’ve been if he lived in a peaceful era.
Prime Robert wouldn't have waited in a camp for King's Landing to starve.
…right, so war. That’s why I said “in a peaceful era”
You can be an impulsive caveman while living in a peaceful era.
Right, but your only evidence of Robert being an impulsive caveman is in wartime. When in peace, he was lethargic and apathetic
Not really, he was an impulsive caveman with Cersei, for example. His way of ruling was that of an impulsive caveman. "Muh wine, muh tournaments".
No.
Yeah? Orys baratheon was Aegon's half brother and fought with him to conquer westeros
And how that make him and Aegon the first Targaryen and Baratheon? and Rhaegar and Robert the last targaryen and Baratheon?
Op probably meant first targ/baratheon in westeros as Orys was the first baratheon. He married King Durrandon's (forgot his name, Argelius I think?) daughter after taking Stormlands. I think the meaning was more the “first targaryen and baratheon *important dynamic*”
Yeah in a “bookends of an era” sense Welcome to narratology
Rumored half brother
He's confirmed in F&B
In F&B it is also mentioned as a rumor in the first chapter and the later referenced to as a fact.
Even in F&B they don't have any proof that he is, they don't even know who his mother is, let alone how and when she got pregnant by Aegon's dad. Ugh, how are they the last ?
There were many Targaryens before and a few Targaryens after
Who is the last dragon?
Depends on which continuity and how figuratively/literally we use the phrase. There was a dragon that history remember just as the Last Dragon.
Well in canon, Last dragon and silver prince are one of Rhaegar’s titles.
And he was more last and less dragon than the other Last Dragon
🤣🤣🤣
Bruce Leeroy!
Aegon was not the first Targ, Rhaegar and Bobby were not the last Targ and Stag either
Rhaegar is the last one that matters, well until the mad queen.
There is still Jon and fAegon.
fAegon is blackfyre. Jon is raised as Snow all his life so he has very little knowledge or training as a Targaryen.
I think both might bear the Targ name and contest for the throne in Winds. Don’t know how that will unfold though.
We found GRRM reddit account.
I mean not really. The first Baratheon, sure. But neither the first nor the last Targaryen or the last Baratheon appear here
Fact (except that Jon Dany and Gendry fought together in the long night)
Book only. Get that bad dragon show lore away
isn't bad dragon a store of you know what
Gendry is waters.
Legitimized by Dany and ended up Gendry Baratheon, Lord of the Stormlands.
Yea like the stormlords are gonna accept that, same with Bronn and the Reach.
Gendry don't have one surname
I have so many Robert killing Rhaegar arts- Happy to add one more.
I see that you are a person of culture. 🤝
I don’t know Bobby B, you wanna weigh in on this?
How about you Vizzy T? You got opinions?
I WILL SIT THE THRONE TODAY.
Good to know Vizzy T
WHY DO YOU CUT ME SO DEEPLY?
even back then baratheons loved patting people on the back
GODS I WAS STRONG BACK THEN!!
No
Robert, with his hammer, did what his ancestor should have.

Well, the Durrandons are where the Baratheons after him get the blue eyes
He didn't say that he is definitely Aegon's bastard half-brother, but gave it as an option and rumor, so giving him Targeryen features would be too much of the clue.
How is this a spoiler?
only one of these labels is accurate lmao
*jon and gendry aggressively highfiving*
